Rite of Spring

posted by Gidge Uriza

Spring is coming. Where I live everything is in bloom and it’s been sweltering warm in the afternoons.  So how else to celebrate the Earth shrugging off winters cold and grey ugliness than to go dancing in the flowers and forests at Oubliette?

I'm an Excellent Dancer

I actually wasn’t paying attention – and wore the shape that came with this costume from Wishbox. 🙂 It’s cute. Continue reading

Las Pas in Nirvana – from Nymphetamine

posted by Gidge Uriza

There is a lovely area of the Nymphetamine Isle that has been set up as a romantic hideaway……Nirvana. I decided that since I was reshooting the beautiful Las Pas gown and lingerie (I had previously shot nothing but long hair stuck into my boobs) that I’d go give it a whirl and see what there was to see. It's Homespun

When my grandparents left Sweden, they left in a hurry. My grandmother was about to be arrested for an altercation with village’s minister who felt very strongly that an atheist should not be allowed to raise even her own children. Since they picked up what they could in such a hurry, they did not bring much, but one thing they brought was her spinning wheel.  The name of the new store Homespun made me think of my grandmother – who died more than 30 years before I was born – and the heritage of free-thinking independence she passed down. I never knew her, but sometimes I do feel such a strong identification with her independent tough-minded spirit. I got a letter from my sister yesterday and she mentioned that she just had that old spinning wheel reconditioned last month – Spinning Wheel Keep On Spinning!

This lovely little birdie cardigan is from Homespun.  Like most of the Homespun offerings, it makes me think of the everyday clothing of the simple life. Simple sweaters with hand-stitched embellishments, cotton dresses and sensible shoes. The clothing you might see in an Andrew Wyeth painting which made me want to shoot outdoors. Hopping around to interesting looking places I came across Sanada Go where I saw several people engaged in sword fights, but also found a lovely setting where you can rez for easy picture taking.

We Seek the Dark Tower, Thankee Sai

posted by Gidge Uriza

Baiastice’s new release of the CAGE TOP was an on the fly inspiration to do a shoot together and Cajsa knew just the place to go – IMMERSIVA.

To me it was extremely GUNSLINGERISH – and I kept expecting Roland and company to come rolling through chasing the Man in Black.  Well – like UltraModern Gunslinger – just as parts of the book are quite anachronistic, the sim reeks of both primitive and ultramodern tones. It is, not to put too fine a point on it – extraordinary.

With bold and futuristic design this top has two options, one modest – as we’re wearing so you can’t see ALL of our goodies, and one NOT so modest, with your goodies on full display. We’ve also added Baiastice’s LEATHER RIDE pants because if we’re going to chase the Man in Black – we need sensible pants. Continue reading

I Used To Rule The World…..

posted by Gidge Uriza

…..seas would RISE when I gave the word……

I know, lotsa fashionistas have blogged this dress. But it’s totally festive and I wanted to wear it too. I just had this whole pirate thing going on the second I saw it. So I went exploring and found this nutty build of pirate ships. And a guy apparently role playing a hanged man behind me. (Yeah that’s a person not a part of build). Continue reading

Brrrrrr

Snow has fallen at Embryo and there’s a chill in the air. Nonetheless, it’s an extraordinarily beautiful place to stop  and snap some pictures. Silly me, though, I forgot my coat.

Nothing like fooling around a bit to warm you up. I could not resist the candy cane antlers from Studio Sidhe. They’re adorable and flexible. You can wear them and go shopping and walk around as normal until you feel like surprising your friends with the pose and simply run the animation. Besides, everyone knows laughter warms you up.

Quick Look:*Linc*, Exile and Sh!t Happens

posted by Gidge Uriza

The ENTIRE reason I ever tried out 50L Fridays was because of these damned leggings from Sh!T Happens. I have yet to curse Ana, their creator, because she’s unleashed a new shopping fetish.

I NEEDED another one of those, right? Continue reading

All I Need Is a Beautiful Girl……

posted by Gidge Uriza

The song by Van Halen went through my mind endlessly as I went through this shots of Cajsa and I at Oubliette wearing our new gowns from Miamai. I have no idea since the song is about oogling girls at the beach and we couldn’t be further from it.

Perhaps it’s just because I thought we looked like beautiful girls.

The crystalline texture of the Cristallo dress were perfect at the winter wonderland at Oubliette. Don’t you think?

We haven’t done one together in a long time. We’ve got to do this more often, it’s fun.

EXILE!BOOM!PXL CREATIONS! TRUTH!

posted by Gidge Uriza

It all started with the hair. This damned hair that Cajsa has been flaunting from Exile…….I had to have it. As  Hannibal Lector taught us – WHAT do we Covet? That which we see every day. So eventually I broke down and bought it because OMG it’s big and floofy and FANTASTIC. Continue reading

Babes in the woods

Here it is Halloween and I have not posted one costume. This is not actually a costume, either, but a lovely Victorian Lace nightgown that could be worn year round. However, something about it reminds me of the most frightening of Mother Goose rhymes, Babes in the Woods:

My dear do you know,
How a long time ago,
Two poor little children,
Whose names I don’t know,
Were stolen away
On a fine summers day,
And left in a wood,
As I’ve heard people say,

Poor babes in the wood! poor babes in the wood!
Oh! don’t you remember the babes in the wood?

And when it was night,
So sad was their plight,
The sun it went down,
And the moon gave no light!
They sobbed and they sighed,
And they bitterly cried,
And the poor little things,
They lay down and died.

Poor babes in the wood! poor babes in the wood!
Oh! don’t you remember the babes in the wood?

And when they were dead,
The robins so red
Brought strawberry leaves,
And over them spread;
And all the day long,
The branches among,
They mournfully whistled,
And this was their song;

Poor babes in the wood! poor babes in the wood!
Oh! don’t you remember the babes in the wood?

The nightgown from Studio Sidhe is such an iconic gown that would be appropriate for so many interpretations. I could imagine it as Mina’s gown in Bram Stoker’s Dracula or the nightie that Anne of Green Gables wore when reenacting the Lady of Shallot on the pond. I can see Jo March and her sisters wearing it, too. But, it’s Halloween and this gown reminds me of the heartbreaking illustration of Babes in the Woods from my childhood Illustrated Mother Goose and the little white  nightie worn by the little girl.
