Pretty in Python

aug24_027

Kunglers has released a new dress called Eleanor with six texture options – from pop art stripes to sexy pyhon.  I was drawn to the python even though I generally like snakes. I was not always fond of snakes and certainly hold a snake responsible for breaking my wrist when I was in 9th grade. I was climbing in Montana and was startled by a rattler while on a cliff. Considering I fell 60 feet, I guess a broken wrist was nothing to complain about. In college, though, I worked at the Minnesota Children’s Museum and one of my duties was showing the snakes and feeding them. I developed a fondness for Squeeze – who was incredibly well-named even though he was a mouse murderer.

Shining in Vintage

aug24_011

The Mesh Button Vest from Shine is all kinds of wonderful. I love its glittery goodness in every color. I had the hardest time choosing which to wear especially since the Seberg Pants from Ingenue seemed made for them and came in a rainbow of colors that could coordinate with any of the vests. Such a quandary, but I ended up choosing the Teal because who doesn’t love teal?

No Ordinary Cats

Well it’s true.  I’ve had all sorts of cats. I’ve had cats that were my best friend. I’ve had cats that were total assholes but I loved despite themselves. But ordinary? No. Never. Our friend in fashion Gospel Voom, the creator of those GOS shoes you love so much, has a cat that is also not ordinary. This amazing cat, named Archie, was hit by a car.  He suffered traumatic head injuries, but as he isn’t an ordinary cat obviously, he has survived thanks to some amazing vets. Continue reading

Tongue-Tied

Aug24_002

This fun sundress from Ingenue for Vintage Fair had me reaching for some rockabilly and the incomparable Wanda Jackson. Some people say she is the female Elvis, but frankly, Elvis is the male Wanda Jackson.

Oh, great good golly, he thrills me so
When the apple of my eye whispers in my ear
I get real speechless and I act so shy
And all I can say is neenie-neenie-ny
I get tongue tied, ooh
I get tongue tied, yeah
I go, well ah-ah-ah…
What I’m tryin’ to say is
I love you, yeah!

I added so stockings from League which are super sexy with their garters and the hot Pinup Pumps from N-Core.

One Dark Alley You Don’t Want to Avoid

Aug23_007

Lost Angel made a fabulous Dark Alley couple’s pose set for Vintage Fair. It’s one that evokes Sam Spade and Brigid O’Shaughnessy and love, greed, betrayal and all those other old-fashioned values of the noir detective. Happily, I was able to still use the poses and just delete the one I was not using at the time. I did think about inviting someone to come pose, but figured that would just make me crash – since that was the way my viewer was behaving.

Are you a Chiffonzie?

Aug23_003

A chiffonzie is a designer who automatically reaches for the silk chiffon when making a dress. It’s a new term coined by some Project Runway competitors to refer to a small cadre of drape-addicted designers who seem to only design with silk chiffon. Appolonia Criss is not a chiffonzie. She uses all sorts of fabrics and designs highly structured as well as soft, flowing work. However, this silk chiffon dress is a wonderful example of what a chiffonzie can do – make a delightfully feminine froth of a dress.

Peripatetic Posing

aug21_001

Whimsy Winx made some photoboxes for My Attic, the discount room at The Deck, that should have all retro and pop art lovers running to pick them up. The theme for this My Attic event is Shaken, not Stirred and Whimsy produced three boxes, Shaken, Stirred and Royale. As soon as a saw them, I thought of the dresses from Drift for Vintage Fair with their fabulous op art prints.

After I shot the set in the WinxBox, I was picking it back up from the platform and backed into the Dual Projector Pose Box from Status and with the windlight setting I was using for the other pics, it really made a striking effect, reminding me a bit of David Downtown or Rene Gruau illustrations. I could not resist snapping a few pictures because the effect seemed so cool. It really emphasized the headpiece and necklace from LaGyo that I picked up at Collabor88.

The Great Wall of China

Aug20_001

I visted the Great Wall of China during my first month in Second Life five years ago and it was always a wonderful place to go. That’s why I was sad to read that it and three companion sims owned by Amiryu Hosoi may be forced to close. Please stop by and drop off a donation in the box at the landing point and don’t forget to shop at her store, Hosoi Design, if you’re looking for Japanese furnishings, prefabs and decor.

The Mad Hatter Goes for Baroque

aug18_007

The theme of August’s Collabor88 is Baroque – a thematic direction sure to bring dramatic and bold fashions such as this confection from Nylon Outfitters – the Baroque Bustle Mini. It comes in pink, gold, lavender, black and green, I had to go for the pink because it looks like a lovely little bonbon. Continue reading
