Pycho Snowman

dec24_005

So I am looking forward to the new Doctor Who Christmas Special tomorrow. It’t called the Snowmen and while I have very little idea what it’s about, it’s quite likely it will have scary snowmen. But will they be this scary? Of course, I would happily face this psycho snowman if it meant traveling space and time with the Doctor and enjoying a timey-wimey universe. The top is from Tameless – a find on Marketplace – however it’s not standard sized and I had to reduce my butt a bit because there was one tiny spot that peeked through. All the photos for this post are raw, unedited pics from Second Life. I used a projector and got that grainy texture using RenderSSAOFactor in the Debug menu.

If you have not snapped your holiday pictures yet…

Where to Shoot Holiday Pictures

Aren’t these Leith boots from Schadenfreude hot? You can find them at Collabor88 and if I had been smarter, I would have bought the fat pack.

If you have not snapped you holiday pictures yet, you could not do better than heading over to Wishing Well where Incendia Outdoors has created dozens of scenes perfect for holiday pictures. This is a snap in front of the fire, for all you know I could be roasting chestnuts.

Where to Shoot Holiday Pictures

You can even take a sleigh ride to tour the scenes before deciding where and what you want to shoot.

A New Way to Deal with Tiled SL Screenshots

dec22_013

La Penderie de Nicole has a great dress for the With Love Hunt. It’s a lovely blue one-shoulder dress with an asymmetrical hem that ends in beautiful ruffle. I had a lot of fun shooting the pics for this post now that I can have shadows and projectors and even depth of field again. For some inexplicable reason, though, a few pictures tiled, a glitch that usually happens when you are shooting pictures with scrolling clouds. I loved this shot but it had one square tile, the one that is at the bottom of the right hand side. I could have cropped it out, but instead I decided to go with it and made a layer of semi-transparent tiles of the same size and then colored them and changed the layer blend to difference to get this tiled effect. It was a fun experiment and does not distract much from your enjoyment of the dress, I hope.

The Rose Theater

dec21_002

A trip to Second Life’s® Rose Theater requires a gown worthy of the venue and this recent release from VoguE Fashion is in all ways worthy. It has the regal red, black and gold colors, rich and strong colors that for centuries have signified formal elegance. The gown has a rich brocade band marking the chevroned drop waist and a bodice of red glass beans embellished with gold threads. Even the lush shoulder fur is dusted with gold. My jewelry from Donna Flora for My Second Box is just a regal and rich and the topaz gems are huge.

Hunting With Love

DEc19b_005

Mijn Boutiques cat sweater seems made for me – the caretaker and servant of a black and white cat named Oscar.

My mom liked to say that everything you do should be done with love. It is one reason why I am so fond of the With Love Hunt an annual event that asks all of us to act with love. Creators are asked to create with love – making wonderful items that they will offer at a fraction of their worth. Bloggers are asked to blog with love and integrity, without giving away anything more than approved hints. Hunters are asked to hunt with love, without complaints about the nomimal 10 linden price or hard-to-find items. We may not all succeed, but we are asked to try.

This sweater from Mijn was certainly made with love, love for cats, for whimsy, for fun. And it came to my attention with love when a blog reader, knowing my fondness for Oscar, alerted me to this Oscarish cat. And yes, I am blogging it with love, love for my ridiculously entertaining cat and the fey spirit that creates such a fun sweater for me to enjoy and the diligent event coordinator who uses her skills to build community.

So Gidge and I Went Shopping

Dec19_005

One of the best things about getting my computer fixed is being able to go to places where there are people around and the best of that is that Gidge and I can go shopping together again. We had a lot of fun running from store to store and checking out the events. We good around when we shop, stopping at faMESHed to sit at the table (Gidge bought it) and try all the poses. She blogged the gorgeous coat she picked up on our shopping trip to Vero Moderno, so I thought I would show you the dress. It’s a one-shouldered shift with five tiers of pastel plaid, a lovely outfit that seemed to be right at home next to a larger-than-life lollipop.

Entertaining for Christmas

dec18_004

This year I get to host Christmas dinner and have been menu-planning for over a week and dithering back and forth between the many ideas rolling around in my head. I know exactly what I plan to make for my first course and second course, but the third course is giving me fits. I am serving beef tenderloin, but folks like a starch with their main course, so I am trying to choose between Pommes Anna, Patatas Aioli or Mushroom Risotto. I am planning on roasted vegetables for the other side dish. Anyway, my shopping list grows and luckily I have a gorgeous clutch to carry it and a handy pen around for reminding me of things I need to buy. 🙂

Inspiration Unfolds

dec16_009

Monica Outlander of MiaMai released her newest collection on December 8th. I love her shows. They are always an extravagant and imaginative work of art with music, text, illustration, photography and fashion coming together in a meaningful and thoughtful performance. I missed the show this time since my computer was still in need of repairs, but that doesn’t mean I missed the collection.

I found myself inspired by this rich brocade gown that brings together traditional formality in texture with a modern silhouette and avant garde embellishment. While brocade has been around for over a millennium, it reached its heyday in the 18th century. I have a mental image of one of the weavers who produced the lush silks for the Sun King’s Court seeing this brocade gown with its antlers and wings and wondering why she had not thought of that.

The Parties of Christmas Are Upon Us

Dec15d_006

Sissy Pessoa of Baiastice releases a gorgeous collection of stunning holiday gowns every year and this year, with mesh in her masterful hands, the holiday collection is more gorgeous than ever. This Juliet dress is a stunning cocktail dress that can be worn two ways, with the yoke and hem sheer or opaque. Its rich jewel tones and its wrapping paper shimmer are simply perfect.

An Event Trifecta

Dec15b_004

So now that my computer has been repaired I was able to hop over to Collabor88, The Arcade and faMESHed without getting a black screen kernel panic meltdown. Things are still not quite right and I think I will have to upgrade my operating system to Lion to get shadows again, but now I can go where there are people.

My dress is from Ingenue for the Collabor88 event and comes in many colors. It’s a perfect foundation dress to wear with scarfs, jackets or to show off fun jewelry. Its simply lines make it a wonderful frame for fun accessories. Speaking of fun accessories, here’s another of the pesca scarves from The Arcade Gacha. I plurked about my desperate desire for one of these stoles when Arcade opened while my computer was still in bad shape and was lucky to receive several different ones from friends. This pink plaid seems made for the Ingenue dress.
