Blacklace Halloween

I am wary of holiday outfits – so may are one-day-wonders that will never be worn again. You cannot say that about this special Halloween Edition of the Foxy lingerie set from Blacklace.  Blacklace does extraordinary lingerie and does it well, so when Mariska Simons turned her hand to making a holiday set, she did it with a deft, imaginative touch that evokes Halloween implicity, not explicitly – making a lingerie set that can conceivably be worn throughout the year.

Um diddle diddle diddle um diddle ay
Um diddle diddle diddle um diddle ay

Does your Halloween costume yearning lean more toward the sweet and adorable? Well, who could be more rewarding than Mary Poppins. I found this costume when I was on the hunt for a Mary Poppins umbrella – not this umbrella, but the black one she usually carried.  I dd not find that, but I thought this discovery was reward enough. This is from A Halloween shop and believe me, you cannot let October pass you by without stopping there at least once.

Black Swan Events

Second Life has Black Swan events, but so does real life. Sadly, there’s no dancing, but there can be excitement. If you like history and philosophy, it’s an interesting idea. The name comes from the age-old assumption that all swans are white. All it took was one black bird (and allegedly a homely one at that) to disprove centuries of knowledge. In essence,  the idea of a black swan event is that it points out how fragile our system of assumptions and knowledge are – sitting there waiting for some unpredictable black swan event to toss them in the air. What does this have to do with this dress?  Well, I guess it’s the way the designer took our assumptions of the “black swan” and tossed them in the air to come up with a dress that breathes fire.

VaVaVelvety Leathers from Baiastice

Look how touchable and soft that little jacket is. It’s one of the appropriately named Sexy jackets from Baiastice made of rubbed leather, sueded to the point it seems more like velvet than leather.  With it I am wearing a top from Pixel Dolls – Isolde, aptly named with its Arthurian chasing on the belting. Simple Chic

It’s easy to pull together a simple, chic look in just a moment’s notice, just have a handy-dandy all-purpose high-waisted pencil skirt on hand. One in a neutral color will work with just about any blouse you care to throw at it. In this case, I didn’t go neutral as I have more than one of the super wonderful Little Rebel ruched pencil skirts. When I pulled out this pucci-pop top from Le Petite Fleur, I opted for the orange skirt.

At Hollow Forest: Quick Look

Didn’t get this posted before leaving for work, so this will be a quick one. Shot at the Hollow Forest sim, a place that makes me hear “Born on the Bayou” in my head.  Features jeans and a sweater from Ibizarre and shoes from Maitreya – good hiking and exploring clothes that are sturdy and wear well.

I do love Peacocks

The best treasure I found at Sari’s treasure hunt was a little top I bought for a mere 45L. You can see it in the photo. It’s called Diving Peacock – and you should know I find peacock deisgns irresistable. But what to wear with it?  Actually, yesterday i saw this adorable ruched high waisted skirt in teal at Little Rebel, but my dilemma was a few days ago. All my system skirts left about an inch of bare belly which is just too informal for the look I wanted.

okay, so I CAN mod my hair, sort of…

I was able to mod my hair last night and move the single offending hair prim out of my cheek. YAY! It took 4 minutes and clicking the move Y- button twenty-two times. NOT SO YAY!  And that was with everything going my way.  I was lucky that i guessed y-minus right off the bat and didn’t spend any time clicking the other 5 options at all. And of course, if the prim had been behind another prim, i woul have spent 10-20 minutes moving one prim out of the way so I could click on the prim I need to move and then moving the prim in the way back to position. Actually, no I wouldn’t, I would have given up and deleted the hair.  Honestly, edit scripts are a poor substitute for being able to edit hair. It’s time-consuming and frustrating. And Damselfly is one of my favorite hair stylists, dagnabbit. But on to more cheerful things like the gorgeous dress from TOSL that I have on. Continue reading
