Do you believe InMonster(s)?

Aug16b_006

I love finding a new (to me) store at events like Vintage Fair. It’s a double bonus when their designs are fresh, high fashion styles that make me happy. InMonster certainly does that. There’s so much to love about this dress, from the bright scarlet lace to the structure cap sleeves. I definitely will be keeping my eyes out for more from this high fashion brand.

Projectors Made Easy as 123

BAIASTICE @ Vintage Fair

Since Gidge and I have been playing with projectors lately, a few people have checked out the tutorials and asked a few questions about how to do it. So Gidge got the great idea of setting up a pose box with the projector and light leak texture built right in along with some poses situated in the sweet spot where the projectors come together. Thus the Status Dual Projector Box 1.0 was born. It makes taking fun pictures as easy as 123. But first, let’s take a look at this gorgeous top and skirt from Baiastice for Vintage Fair. It comes in several colors and you can put the same color top and skirt together to look more like a dress, but I love hot pink and lime – they are just the perfect expression of summer. I love the easy style of the top and skirt with the great details that make it special, like the inset belt and the soft pleating at the hem of the skirt.

I Knew A Girl Named Milly

She was the walking incarnation of the karma wheel, was Milly. She did good things, good things happened. She did bad things, bad things happened. Yet just like the old witchcraft rules, her evil returned to her threefold (although who is doing that counting is always somewhat suspect to me).

Born in the coal mining hills of West Virginia, the 9th of 13 children, Milly was born into poverty. Her exhausted mother looked at the two nurses who had just come to the house to deliver her and asked “What are your names?”.  Sister Imelda and Sister Ann they were, and thus – Imelda Ann was named – called Milly. 3379

jul29_005

This is the 3379th post at It’s Only Fashion – they do add up, don’t they? Why did I point that out? Mainly because I could not think of anything to organize this post around. I thought about writing about the effing brilliant Olympic Opening Ceremony – a democracy’s response to the despotic precision of China – but that doesn’t have anything to do with this outfit. I thought about writing about the ineffable presumption of some folks who are so quick to criticize others (creators, event planners, bloggers and photographers to name a few) and how that drip, drip, drip of negativity wears and erodes the spirit – but that doesn’t have anything to do with this outfit. I thought about writing about the fear of rejection that makes clicking an Add Friend button a fraught exercise in risk analysis – but that doesn’t have anything to do with this outfit either. But – I was wearing this outfit when these topics came up and somehow they came to mind when I started to blog.

I even thought about blogging about the upcoming Vintage Fair. After all, the skirt from Peqe has a vintage flair. The fabulous print jacket is called Vintage and the set is Long Angel’s Vintage Picture Window set. I guess three vintages could make that work, couldn’t it? Even if none of the pieces are at the Vintage Fair?  So, yes, Vintage Fair is coming – opening August 4th and running to August 29th. I am excited and know many of you will be, too, but there are only a few peeks and previews on Flickr and elsewhere. I know it will be wonderful, but how wonderful is still a mystery.

Schadenfreude Is Good For You!

jul22_003

I fell in love with the Schadenfreude dress for Collabor88. It’s adorable and the lace-up back is even more so, though you can see that in Zas’ first post highlighting the backs of several outfits.

My Attic…

Stockholm Attic for Collabor88

Barnesworth Anubis has released a new skybox that is amazing and comfy for work or play, and you can pick it up now at Collbabor88.

It’s got a beautiful view and wide open space inside, perfect for us bloggy types who like to take pictures, and that also means if you live in it you won’t keep running into the walls as you cam around to see this or that.

We’ll leave out what this or that might be.

I am going to use this box for my work space, because it makes me feel peaceful and elegant just being inside of it. I am about 90% sure it’ll make me more awesome at everything I do.

You’ll have to let me know.

The Stockholm Attic skybox is now available at COLLABOR88 from Barnesworth Anubis.

Things my father taught me

Using alternatives to PhotoShop - I edited this with LunaPic to emphasize the pouring rain.

I have many great memories of my father. I remember him singing and playing banjo, dancing with my mom and telling stories with a twinkle in his eye. I remember his voice and his laughter. One of my strongest and most powerful memories, though, is from a day he made me miserable and angry.

My dad and a picture of the woods above the river

I grew up in the country on the far side of a lake, deep in the woods. It was a 3.5 mile walk to the school bus, though I often shaved some off that by taking deer paths through the woods. That day it was raining and dad offered to give me a ride to the school bus stop. We had gone about a mile when a squirrel ran in front of the car and we could hear a slight thud as it was struck by the car. Dad pulled over to make sure it was dead, but it had run off into the woods.

Mixing Mesh

May09_002

In my quest to find mixable mesh, I have found a few allies. Two of them, Eboni Khan of Hucci and Drinkenstein Sorbet of The Sea Hole, are featured in today’s post. What makes them an ally? Producing tops and skirts as separates so I can experiment with them in different looks beside the singular one they envision. This gives me the movement and texture depth and resolution of mesh and the flexibility and creativity in styling of system clothing – the best of both worlds.

I Tumble Out Of Bed and I Stumble To The Kitchen

Lisp Bazaar Mermaids and Sea Dogs Kitchen

One of the best things about moving into my houseboat has been redecorating and making the empty shell my own. I’ve been kitchen shopping but living on a boat, I find that space is a huge consideration and I just can’t throw in much of the furniture pieces I like because I don’t have space. BUT PRAISE SWEET LITTLE BABY JESUS Lisp Bazaar has the best kitchen on the planet AND it has a nautical theme, for sale at Collabor88. Continue reading
