Oh my GOSH you guys the Thanksgiving holiday is almost here! I’ve got so much to cook and get ready because I hope to have some guests at my new bigger house this year! It’s a lot for one girl to do, but I know I can be ready before tomorrow.
Lacuna released two tone turtlenecks that are perfect for a cute look but casual comfort. I had made an early run to Casa de Shai for her new polka dotted jeans release and just happened to pick them up in a chocolate color to coordinate – PERFECT!

Vogue made me happy by telling me that plaids are in this season. Of course, I could have told them that plaids should always be in, but that’s another story. Seriously though, can something as beautiful as this gorgeous full-length plaid taffeta skirt from Casa del Shai ever be anything but in? If this be plaid, give me more!
I shot this set at Alpha Point – a sim I discovered linguistically. I have shot many times at Omega Point. I don’t know why it took me this long to wonder whether there being an Omega meant there was an Alpha, but it did. I did a search and there it was. Alpha and Omega – should have known long ago.

Another great jacket and pants set featured at Modavia Fashion Week comes from Shai Delacroix of Casa del Shai. It’s the Vixen Knit Kimono with Leopard Print pants. I really love the texturing on this outfit. In fact, I oohed and aahed like an idiot while watching it come down the runway at the show.
I shot this again at the Subway Station that Urban Decay sells. This is in the front part of the station before the turnstiles that lead to the tunnel.

Shai Delacroix is back in a big way. After taking a short hiatus from designing and producing new clothing, she has released three new pieces in the last month. In contrast to the bright summery swimsuit and sundress I blogged about the other day, this newest release is all about classical elegance. Reminiscent of Grecian gowns, her new Eleganza is all about elegance in form. The color of the cocoa one made me think of another of the Utopia World Expo sims – Utopia01 – no love.
Utopia01 is a beautiful sim with the rich turquoise landscape. It requires patience as it’s no fly and the walk way appears in front of you as you move through it – so don’t walk to fast or you will fall in the water. When two people have a personality conflict that seems intractable, we say, “Like oil and water, they don’t mix.” That expression in one form or another is so old we don’t know its origins. However, its essential truth has become painfully obvious over the last two months since the Gulf spill began. While one attempt after another fails, scientists and DIY inventors have made a cottage industry of uploading ideas to youtube to help the clean up. From clever to whimsical to crazy, those ideas are profoundly human. People are eager to do something because that’s what humans do. For good or ill, it’s part of what makes us human.
Casa del Shai Capricciosa Dress
Not all of us can, or should, take a boat out on the Gulf and try to rescue birds and sea turtles. Still we want to do something. One thing we can do is help support cleanup efforts by established conservationist organizations with experience in ecological restoration. Sadly, it’s been more difficult than usual to get support for those efforts because this disaster is man-made and has a villain who is expected to pay for the clean-up – assuming they don’t decide to file for bankruptcy reorganization. The idea that BP will pay for it all ignores that these groups are not waiting around for BP’s permission to begin wildlife rescue. They are already doing the work.
This is my newbie self and yes, I was fortunate. When I entered Second Life, one of the first people I met was an SL mentor named Lilien Jewell who took it upon herself to ensure that I didn’t look like a noob for long. My 3rd day in SL I purchased the RaC (now LAQ) skin Amy – that she helped me choose and had a decent shape. The white skirt is the second purchase I made in Second Life – after the skin. The swimsuit I got a day later. I thought I was so clever putting a skirt over my swimsuit. The shoes were from Shiny Things. I think I was in SL six months before I knew there were more shoe stores than X3D (Digit Darkes), Shiny Things and Enkythings. This is me at about a month or so. It’s not my first hair which was Brittany from Bewitched, but I deleted that in an inventory purge long ago. You might note I had no jewelry. I really had none. It took me forever, it seems, to find jewelery stores that suited my taste. I searched for jewelry, but it was all too too too beauty pageant princess for me, so I just didn’t get any. From the first, I knew that I didn’t want bling. I also had no lashes. I didn’t even know they existed. I should add that I wore this outfit most of the time. It was my “go-to” outfit for the longest time.
My shape is shorter, with a larger waist and smaller breasts. My face is softer with more of a smile. I still don’t wear bling, and mixing and matching outfits is an everyday thing. I still wear that Mandy hair from Muism – though for this I am wearing a favorite from Amrita. The shoes are Maitreya which has become a favorite of mine for shoes. Back then, I might not have realized that I could wear my boots without the calf prims and would not have worn them because the calf prims intersect the pants. Now I wear jewelry almost all the time – and it’s my worst Second Life addiction.

A cold and windy morning had me pulling for sweaters in both lives. I had completely forgotten this great cowlneck from Casa del Shai and had to wear it around on such a blah day.
I don’t know when it happened, but SN@TCH has turned into my go-to JEANS store. I have tons of jeans from there and she just keeps churning out such fun jeans, I can’t stop loving them. NEVER STOP MAKING JEANS! I added the TRASH HEELS also from SN@TCH because they are serious shoe fun. Continue reading
