Hellbound to Paris

When I saw the ad for Diversity Hair’s newest hairstyle, the model was wearing this corset and I was all “gotta have it.”  Thanks to Aleri and Sasy, I was able to track down the eye-dazzling corset, the jacket layer of a lovely black and purple lolita style dress called Hellbound from Sn@tch. Some of its appeal comes from the lovely ruffle detail along the top, but wait until you see the zing on the back. Continue reading

Bubblegum Lip Smacker – (And the Best Freebie Earrings in SL)

posted by Gidge Uriza

Maht was DJing at the Garage one night and at a loss for what to wear, I pulled together some oldies and newbies for a fun club ensemble. The skin I picked up at the Velvet Heart hunt on Bianca’s new shopping sim just reminded me too much of the days of slathering my lips with bubblegum lip gloss.

The kind that actually tastes good.  Continue reading

Glam It Up for Shopping

So I decided to go check out Viva la GLAM, eager to see what they have done. I decided to fortify myself before heading out to the sim, just as a sensible shopper has a snack before going to the grocery store. So, I dressed and accessorized and all round glammed up. Not that this stopped me from going downright silly when I saw the great necklaces and bangles at Viva la GLAM, but I tried.

I started out with a lovely pink dress from Pink, formerly SeVan, called Tessa. I don’t know if you have been to SeVan, but if you haven’t, it’s a treat. The clothes are arranged by color there – and for some reason, I just love seeing all the reds and all the greens in their groups. I added the Tropical Heels from Digit Darkes that I picked up at the RFL Fashion Expo last weekend and the luscious Glam Earrings from creamshop. You can get them in several colors. Believe it or not, the set comes with an even more massive set of earrings.

June in June

Mallory Cowan of Laqroki sent me samples of her newest hair with the oh-so-timely name of June. Redhead that I am, I gravitated to the Hot Red. Yes, it is hot. Normally, I would tint it just a bit darker. I usually purchase her Mahogany hair and add red to it. However, for the purpose of this review, I shot it as it is. The color is rich and vibrant, a bright red, but not at all brassy or orangey. It’s a red I am comfortable wearing. The headband is black and consists of three prims with a black fabric texture. It is not color-scripted, but as you can see, it was quite simple to add a dash of green to the texture to accent my dress. Like all her hair, I didn’t have to adjust it one millimeter to fit my head, though of course that won’t be true for all avatar shapes.

What I love about Laqroki hair is clearly evident in this and the photo of the back after the cut. Ms. Cowan thinks about more than how the hair looks, she thinks about how it interacts with the avatar. I don’t know how she does it, but with Laqroki hair, you seldom see a sheaf of hair appearing mysteriously from the middle of your breast. As a photographer, I love that. I also love the luminescence of the hair. It makes it so  easy to work with lighting because the light doesn’t just get sucked into the hair and disappear. Continue reading

Butterflies Are Free

Some of these butterflies are free – a freebie from Baiastice. When I put this lovely, whimsical dress from Biana F on, it struck my how similar in color intensity and detail the butterflies and flowers were to the darling gift from Baiastice and I wondered if they would suit as well as I imagined. Well, I will let you judge for yourself, but I liked it. I liked it even more when I tossed on MiaSnow Myriam’s delicate and fragile Black Dahlia skin. I admit I would not wear it everywhere, but for the right party – I think it’s a great combination.

You can see more photos on my flickr. A more conventional accessorizing of the dress and style notes are after the jump.

Polka Dotty

Polka Dots

Posted by Cajsa Lilliehook

Polka dots are such fresh and lively prints. Just putting on one polka dot item will wake you up almost as much as a cappuccino, but imagine the effect of layering polka dots on polka dots with your accessories. In this outfit, I even feel ready to tackle my laundry.

This starts with one of the several freebie tops in Baiatrice’s April Free Gift (still there if you hurry.) However, I am not fond of kneepants – especially golfing style knee pants, so i add the lovely Developer pants from Digit Darkes. Honestly, these pants are so richly textured, that you might find yourself stroking your monitor. To top it off, I added on of the indispensable Helena sashes from Persona – a massive fat pack of jacket layer sashes that you can wear with hundreds of outfits.

Baiastice

Baiastice GownBaiastice Gown

Feb 15 –

I wanted a glamorous gown for Valentine’s Day, but not a ball gown that swept the floor so of course, I went to Baiastice -a stylist and sexy black velvet gown from Nicki Pessoa, the Baiastice designer. Baiastice gowns are always elegant, always have rich and delicious textures and are not worn by half the women on the grid.

Baiastice Black Gown

I put it together with the oh so elegant Muse pearl necklace and the Incanti sandals from Adam & Eve. The result, an elegant but not too formal evening dress that’s suitable for all bu the most outrageously up scale events.
