One Dark Alley You Don’t Want to Avoid

Aug23_007

Lost Angel made a fabulous Dark Alley couple’s pose set for Vintage Fair. It’s one that evokes Sam Spade and Brigid O’Shaughnessy and love, greed, betrayal and all those other old-fashioned values of the noir detective. Happily, I was able to still use the poses and just delete the one I was not using at the time. I did think about inviting someone to come pose, but figured that would just make me crash – since that was the way my viewer was behaving.

Are you a Chiffonzie?

Aug23_003

A chiffonzie is a designer who automatically reaches for the silk chiffon when making a dress. It’s a new term coined by some Project Runway competitors to refer to a small cadre of drape-addicted designers who seem to only design with silk chiffon. Appolonia Criss is not a chiffonzie. She uses all sorts of fabrics and designs highly structured as well as soft, flowing work. However, this silk chiffon dress is a wonderful example of what a chiffonzie can do – make a delightfully feminine froth of a dress.

The Great Wall of China

Aug20_001

I visted the Great Wall of China during my first month in Second Life five years ago and it was always a wonderful place to go. That’s why I was sad to read that it and three companion sims owned by Amiryu Hosoi may be forced to close. Please stop by and drop off a donation in the box at the landing point and don’t forget to shop at her store, Hosoi Design, if you’re looking for Japanese furnishings, prefabs and decor.

Dead stuff and alive stuff

/artilleri/ and MiaSnow stuff!

Look at this awesome stuff! I do love stuff, especially when it’s worn, macabre, and slightly dingy, like this lovely rug, skull, and scarf-draped box from MiaSnow. I also love stuff when it’s vibrant, green, and lively, like this set of plants from /artilleri/. In fact, I’m pretty sure that if I cautiously opened my “garden” folder, I’d find that plants take up more than half of my inventory, and macabre stuff the rest of it…

Stuff:
/artilleri/ Plant – Cute climber *green pot*
/artilleri/ Plant – Awesome aloe v2 *brown/green pot*
/artilleri/ Plant – Awesome aloe v1 *blue pot*
MIASNOW Home – SKULL Mustache Man
MIASNOW Home – CRATE Draped Grey 2
MIASNOW Home – RUG Raggy green

The Mad Hatter Goes for Baroque

aug18_007

The theme of August’s Collabor88 is Baroque – a thematic direction sure to bring dramatic and bold fashions such as this confection from Nylon Outfitters – the Baroque Bustle Mini. It comes in pink, gold, lavender, black and green, I had to go for the pink because it looks like a lovely little bonbon. Continue reading

New Donna Flora for Vintage Fair

aug18_002

Donna Flora added another dress to their Vintage Fair offerings. It’s a luscious little dress released in ten colors (See vendor pic 1 and pic 2.) including this glorious gold silk charmeuse. It’s amazing how beautifully shiny the silk is, but then you see the inset piping around the breasts and at the waist, and just have to marvel at Squinternet Larnia’s texturing ability.

Fabienne – A Palace for A Kept Woman

My Universe

The Fabienne skybox is the latest release from Barnesworth Anubis for Collabor88. It’s amazing to me what architecture can inspire in a person. While the name, Fabienne, put my brain in a very salty Pulp Fiction sort of place, upon rezzing it and seeing the beautiful build, I slipped into a very different frame of mind.

It reminded me of the sort of place a kept woman would live. Lol.

It has a masculine elegance and with just a touch of feminine grace that truly reminded me of a place that a man would BUY – for a woman. Barnesworth is going to kill me now I can just feel it. Continue reading

Such pretty feet

Jackal's blossom wedge sandals

O where have you been, wandering Acha?! I’ve been a million places, and I’ve rocked them all, of course. Actually, I’ve been contending with the fact that SL no longer likes me to take snapshots. Remove snapshots from the blogger and what’s left!? Things seem to be settling down again, so I managed to catch these beautiful sandals before they got lost in the realm of capped messages.

They remind me of Indian Summer, these Blossom Wedge Sandals from Lassitude & Ennui. They remind me so much of it that I put on a bathing suit to soak up a few final last rays before August succumbs to September. (You can find these sandals at L’Accessoire!)

How have your summers been? Mine came and went far too quickly.

Such well-defined feet!
