Snow has fallen at Embryo and there’s a chill in the air. Nonetheless, it’s an extraordinarily beautiful place to stop  and snap some pictures. Silly me, though, I forgot my coat.

Nothing like fooling around a bit to warm you up. I could not resist the candy cane antlers from Studio Sidhe. They’re adorable and flexible. You can wear them and go shopping and walk around as normal until you feel like surprising your friends with the pose and simply run the animation. Besides, everyone knows laughter warms you up.

Some Ting Chinese

I got the sweetest notecard a week ago, asking me if I minded if they sent over a couple of chinese costumes for me to look at and possibly blog. I said sure and made a note when they came over.

I got a landmark – but no store name.

However, I tried on this TING ensemble and thought it was cute – you guys know I love Asian influence and this one comes with the hair and the shoes (that are as different as the cowgirl boots canada) so I decided to find the name of the store and blog it.

Except, I couldn’t figure it out. The creators info is all in Chinese. The store is a kiosk on top of a huge build.

So here is what I know – you can get this cute outfit and other Chinese costumes HERE. The name of the store MIGHT be Tian Xia Hu or that might just be the whole shopping complex. I have no idea. Continue reading →

The Best Event of the Day

Sixteen hours down and ten to go! A record in SL DJing is being set today with a 26.2 hours single set by a single DJ. I know it’s a crazy idea, but it’s for a good cause, building the bottom up economy of Uganda by providing cows and goats to poor households who will, in turn, pass on the offspring to additional households. It’s the Uganda Umbrella Project of Heifer International.

Maht Wuyts is my favorite DJ and he’s playing at my favorite club, The Velvet. He plays a great mix of indie and rock music – danceable and fun and he puts together a witty playlist.

The event has several sponsors who have provided lovely gifts for all donors. In the spirit of the project, Shiryu Musashi of Musashi-Do has made a polo shirt inspired by the Uganda flag and Adelaide Ade has made everything the Heifer beekeeper would need, including the bee’s nest. The gifts are fun and eclectic – just like the music set. The largest donor also gets a free photo session with Maht Wuyts, co-founder of MDR Photo Studio.

This extraordinary ball gown is a tribute to Coco Chanel and the overwhelming femme design with so many “finishing” touches – such as all the roses all over it, truly makes it a lovely and modern take on designer who was far ahead of her time.

If you’ve ever worn Chanel or SEEN Chanel’s creations, sometimes they seems like there are a lot of PIECES, a lot of details that create that overall look – yet lose one and you lose the symmetry of the style and design – even when that style is assymetry. The song by Van Halen went through my mind endlessly as I went through this shots of Cajsa and I at Oubliette wearing our new gowns from Miamai. I have no idea since the song is about oogling girls at the beach and we couldn’t be further from it.

Perhaps it’s just because I thought we looked like beautiful girls.

The crystalline texture of the Cristallo dress were perfect at the winter wonderland at Oubliette. Don’t you think?

We haven’t done one together in a long time. We’ve got to do this more often, it’s fun.

There is something just so sassy about the releases I receive from Nymphetamine. I smile as they rezz. I really love the creativity and just FUN that goes into each creation.  I have no practical use for this dress yet- I sort of think that everyone should own it, just because it’s so much fun it hurts. MY GOD just look at the bustle (I’m calling it a bustle but it goes all the way around so now I’m just making up terms. I’m American. We do that.)

This dress is a classic example of the duplicity of Victorian fashion. Demure, simple and lady like fashions were extolled (see – it’s just black and white that’s simple, right?) yet the ornamentation was just over the top to make up for the subtle fabric. Continue reading →
