Well, I don’t have a ponytail, but I do have a wiggle in my walk, so long as my AO is turned on. I picked this up from Tres Blah at Collabor88 last time – not this time, so don’t get too excited. I have been wearing it the last couple days and thought it worth blogging simply because the quality of the work on this dress is exciting.

Barra Barra
When I put on the Star dress from Alafolie I was so distracted by the glitter of the paillettes that I didn’t even notice on of the best features of the dress until I hopped over to The Velvet to listen in on a friend’s set and spend the evening dancing. That was when I noticed how beautifully the dress moved. But you don’t have to take my word for it, I shot a very short little movie that I will post after the cut so you can see for yourself. As to the dress, I love this simplicity of the idea of the intense coverage of paillettes that decreases as they go away from the bodice.

Ingrid & the Oscars
For the past four year my friend, Harper Ganesvoort, has put on a fun photo contest focused on the true highlight of the Academy Awards – the fashion. This is a very different contest from most in Second Life. It’s a contest sponsored by an individual out of enthusiasm for the art and fashion of Second Life, not by an event seeking to build interest or a store promoting its business. There’s nothing wrong with those contests, but there’s something tremendously right about a contest just for the pleasure of it. You can post entries on Flickr or KoinUp and the rules are very simple. Whether you enter or not, you should definitely take a look at the fabulous fashions.

Chantkare Giftables
Let me just start by confessing that I hate Marketplace. I don’t dislike it. I hate it. I don’t use it for myself, but have thought it was an acceptable option for gift-giving, but I have changed my mind. After more than L1000 in presents were not delivered and the responsible store owners did nothing, did not even respond, I have decided that all my future gifting will be things that I can purchase in-wolrd, put in a nice box and hand over in person. I will also still use in-world gift vendors, but Marketplace is simply not an option for gifting until its delivery system becomes much more reliable. So, I thought I might spend some time highlighting a few stores where you can purchase gifts in advance of Valentine’s Day. Yesterday I highlighted some fabulous jewelry from Donna Flora, but sometimes you might want to give some clothing – and Chantkare is a great place to start. Most, though not all, of the items at Chantkare are transferrable. Be sure to check permissions before purchasing though since items with resize scripts are no trans.

Jewelry Blog Challenge – Donna Flora
Gogo challenged folks to make a collage of 10 favorite jewelry pieces. I accidentally miscounted and did 11. Oh well! I got excited about it as I was thinking about Valentine’s Day coming up and what great gifts these will be as they are No Copy/Transfer. So you can buy them, wrap them up in a pretty package with a bow and give them personally.
Be Bop a Lula
Gidge and I threw an impromptu just-because party last night. I put together a Rockabilly set and invited folks for a night of fun rockabilly music. I tossed this together using a dress for the top and some capris from artilleri – the home of all things rockabilly.
C is for me…
A friend game me my initial letter for Christmas, so I had to take it out for a spin. It seems just camp enough for this fun little outfit I put together with the new bodysuit from Chantkare and the mesh mini from Mon Tissu.
Y&R Goodness
It’s been a week since I shot these pictures, but I have been under the weather. I wonder where that phrase comes from. Does it have to do with people feeling achey when the barometer falls? I saw someone suggesting it had to do with being seasick and going down below decks. That doesn’t quite make sense to me since often people who are seasick feel better with the fresh air. Another suggests it has to do with being on the weather side of the ship – the side getting hit by a storm. That makes a little more sense. However, if top of the morning is supposed to be good, I guess under the weather must be bad, right? Well, that’s how I have been feeling and so have no been online much at all. I did, though, want to get this posted. It’s an adorable top and skirt I picked up at Y&R while I was shooting there with their adorable bears. The top has a prim to make it into a more baby-doll style, but I liked it better without.

Where's the Snow?
Since Thursday the weather forecast has been filled with breathless anticipation of snowfall and every commercial break has had a promo about preparing for snow. About 11 pm last night there was giddy live coverage of a few flakes falling over at Mt. Scott, one of the higher elevations in the city. They even zoomed in to show that a piece of wood actually had some white cover of unmelted snow. I went to sleep before any snow fell in my neighborhood and checking out the window this morning, whatever snow that may have fallen is all melted away. Coming from Minnesota, I always am entertained by local weather coverage of snow, but this was the ultimate in much ado about nothing.
Besides, if I want snow, I can just hop around the grid and find some snow. In fact, I just took a peak at French travel blogger Karro Lean’s Winter Collection post and hopped on over to Y&R to snap some pics. The store had moved, but they left a landmark. Now, none of my outfit from today’s post comes from Y&R, but being drawn to their store to shoot a few pictures, I naturally went shopping and you can see the results in Gidge’s post from yesterday and another that is coming. For this, though, I was bundled up and ready for snow! As you can see, I have a fabulous thermal knit ribbed sweater from SAKIDE and over that a huge, thick, warm cable-knit sweater poncho from Baiastice. I was loaded for bear, as they say.

Red Hawt
Monica Outlander of MiaMai knows how to make a sexy gown and she used all her mad skills at once when producing this red hawt number. There’s the low back, the front-crossed halter and the deep keyhole bodice, the skin tight torso and hips and the subtle mermaid flare at the bottom. Any one of the elements add sex appeal and glam to a gown, all of them at once makes that gown smoke. The gown is called Kleo and comes in an flaming hot rainbow of colors. The dress has additional embellishments of diamonds and feathers at the hip and neck, but I left those off because I love how just the form of the dress itself is so very sexy.
