Can anyone wear yellow and black and not have at least a passing thought of bees? While this dress from Les Petits Details is far too lovely to sting like a bee, it does float beautifully. Combining system layers, mesh and sculpts, it was designed to cleverly take advantage of each element of clothing manufacture. Continue reading

Illusions
Who does not love a dress with a bit of illusion? Illusion is the sheer fabric that is often used to make clothes look like they are defying gravity. If well-matched to your skin, it is invisible and can be the structural support for bodices that appear to stand on their own or, as in this Action dress from Countdown, the base for garlands of beautiful embroidery and beading.
Even on a clear and warm May evening, I like something to throw over my shoulders in case I feel a chill. This stole from Sascha’s Designs that I dug out of my inventory is a perfect complement to the dress, it’s duotone color picking up the gold from the embroidery and the pink-tipped ends adding a slightly darker shade of the same pink as the dress, tying it together with the hat. Tinting my white gloves from 5th & Oxford (no longer available) to a pale gold helps emphasize the pink and gold theme.

The Suspense Is Killing Me
Whimsy Winx and Sasy Scarborough have been collaborating on photo sets for several months now and I look forward to each new photo set for My Attic at The Deck. This session has closed and the items are in the W.Winx & Flair store at The Deck, so I am still going to show you this great photo set with poses even if it is late. I also have on the new dress from Baiastice, but you will have to wait until I finish changing.
I’d Like to Be Under the Sea
I was not sold on this dress the instant I saw it at Collabor88. It had to grow on me like tentacles getting a purchase and expanding their hold little by little until their prey is helplessly entangled. I loved the bodice from the instant I saw it with the corseted bodice, the welted seams, the rick-rack trim, the buttons. I was in love. Octopi, though, that took some getting used to. I guess my memories of pulpo en su tinta with my host family in Spain remain fresh after two decades. But really, it’s a cartoon octopus, so I got over it.
Birds of a Feather
So I am under the weather today, enough so that looking at the computer makes me dizzy. So this is going to be short and sweet. The mesh dress is from Vero Moderno. Love it. It looks good without the shoulder puff attachments too. Really love the bracelets from Goucci. They are color-change. I wish they were resizable. They just barely fit. They are no mod, and the script only changes color, not size. But I love the silver and white boldness.
My shoes have wings
VoguE released a fabulous dress full of feathers and drama though the big drama comes from the STG shoes that are a feathery shoegasm.
Too Much Fun at Fashion Week
I have had a lot of fun watching and lusting for all the fabulous fashions at Fashion Week and will be perched on a comfy chair watching today’s shows, too. If only my budget matched my enthusiasm. I picked up this fabulous swing jacket from Ladies Who Lunch in the Retail section at Fashion Show. It came with flats and a coordinating dress, but I decided to mix it up, adding a swimsuit top from Sn@tch and pants from Goucci.
I stopped by a new-to-me shop the other day and fell in love with the foyer before I even saw one piece of clothing. When you look up Goucci in Search, you teleport into the perfect spot, as though you have just stepped off the elevator. So clever. That’s where I picked up these adorable pants. Bargain hunters, add Goucci to your list. The clothing is beautifully made and more-than-reasonably priced. The flat you see are the ones that came in the Fashion Week set from Ladies Who Lunch. Fashion Week
It is time for the AVENUE Spring/Summer Fashion Week and the floodgates have opened as one design house after another releases the their latest collections for the season. The Spring/Summer fashions focus on a breezy casual look as you can see in this design from MIAMAI that paired skinny trousers with a short floaty floral top. The scooped in shoulder gives this a new shape and a modern edge.
An Ingenue in the Forest
The new top from Ingenue features a lovely retro print with a white Peter Pan collar, a style perfect for an ingenue. You can find it in fifteen different colors at The Arcade. Continue reading
Days of Wine and Roses
I know all of you have seen this top many times over. When it came out, it was so new and distinctive that fashionistas rushed to buy it, including this one. It was blogged over and over again. That happens when items are exciting and fresh. The thing is, though, that this top has qualities that make it good investment dressing, too. It’s something to hang onto for the long haul, to be pulled out next year and the year after that because it is not only well-made, but it is made to play well with others. The relatively short waist keeps it from conflicting with skirts and pants. The lack of a collar lets it fit with lots of jewelry and even several jackets. It’s a keeper.
Today I paired it with this fabulous new pencil skirt from Baiastice. I love that she put in this soft version of a kick pleat in the back, adding an extra bit of stretch when you walk so the fabric does not get so streched. This skirt was released in five solids, six bi-colors and six leathers.
