Wherein I Drool Over Jewelries

posted by Gidge Uriza

There may have been a 30 second lapse of time between seen the notecard about the new releases of jewels and my desire to obtain them.

Maybe.

I’m a sucker for jewelry, LIKE EVERY SINGLE OTHER ONE OF YOU DON’T LIE TO ME.

And when I find jewelry that makes me believe it  been rented from Harry Winston, well, then I’m like a pot-head in Amerstdam. Continue reading

Regal

sep29_015.jpg

Monica Outlander’s Black Label collection for her dazzling Spleen and Ideasm show is full of stunning and amazing outfits. The range in mood from the outrageously avant garde to the sedately regal. The Indrith gown is one of the most regal gowns in the collection with its rich colors, its fleur-de-lis textures and its massive panniers that give it majesty.

A dress of this scale deserves a setting that is also majestic – like ChouChou V – Memento Mori with a staircase made for long gowns.

Queen Mab

sep29_025.jpg

I am the Fairy Mab: to me ‘tis given
The wonders of the human world to keep;
The secrets of the immeasurable past,
In the unfailing consciences of men,
Those stern, unflattering chroniclers, I find;
The future, from the causes which arise
In each event, I gather; not the sting
Which retributive memory implants
In the hard bosom of the selfish man,
Nor that ecstatic and exulting throb
Which virtue’s votary feels when he sums up
The thoughts and actions of a well-spent day,
Are unforeseen, unregistered by me;
And it is yet permitted me to rend
The veil of mortal frailty, that the spirit,
Clothed in its changeless purity, may know
How soonest to accomplish the great end
For which it hath its being, and may taste
That peace which in the end all life will share.
This is the meed of virtue; happy Soul,
Ascend the car with me!’

MiaMai Moves Fashion Forward

sep26_005.jpg

I went to MiaMai’s Spleen and Ideasm Runway show on Saturday. It was more than a show, it was an exhibition and the clothing was fantastic in the most literal sense of the world. Depicting the epic struggle between good and evil, the clothing is wildly constructed, imaginative and strongly designed.

To highlight the modernism of the clothing – I decided to go to a sim with an old-fashion vintage feeling – Carpe Diem.

NOW IN THE CENTER RING! Guest Stylist VICTORIA SABRA!

posted by Gidge Uriza

Guest Stylist Victoria Sabra is a plurk friend of me and my husband Silo and I was excited to see her pop in wearing a classic gown from Evie’s closet.

Evie’s Closet rocks my socks.

I thought her ballet length mix and match of the Isabella from Evie’s closet was perfect for trick riding, and had to make her a circus queen. Not the cowboy kind. The lost Russian Princess kind. Continue reading

Guest Stylist: Squinternet Larnia

Squinternet Larnia_008.jpg

I ran into Squinternet Larnia, Designer/Owner of Donna Flora, at PXL Creations the other day. She was wearing an amazing dress with stunning embroidery. In fact, she was so beautifully styled I immediately asked her to be a guest stylist for our blog and she graciously agreed. In this shoot, she is wearing that dress she was wearing the other day and on second sight – it’s as beautiful as ever. The Lorelei dress is a lovely form-fitting dress with lovely puff sleeves accented with a lovely beaded fringe.

Squinternet Larnia_003.jpg

I asked her to come to Elonia for the shoot because I though the lovely blend of ice white and gold would make a beautiful setting. It looked even better than I thought it would. The surreal combination of an iced-over river and palms is stunning and the fantastic buildings gleam like jewels on the ground. Continue reading

hai(r)evolution two

jul30_002.jpg
The next step in the (r)evolution of hair design is making a hair base worn on the tattoo layer – enabling it to be worn with any skin. To demonstrate exactly how versatile this method is, I though that I would go gray – really gray – so that you can see the strongest possible example of how it works with this collection from MiaMai by Monica Outlander.

Expectations 8: Mixed Expectations

It’s pretty clear that with the many Sn@tch separates we can put together all sorts of looks, but let’s not forget that we can also take pieces of outfits and mix with separates for an entire new look as well. For example, the cocktail dance dress that Gidge blogged the other day is a perfect resource for mining for ingredients in a new look. Here, I take the bodice and sleeves and mix with a sash from Personal and a skirt from Sn@tch for a new look.

IFW10 – The Best Laid Plans

International Fashion Week is winding to a close and so are my highlights of some of the lovely designs on offer there. I could not miss out on showing you the lovely Milena dress, an IFW10 exclusive, since MiaMai is a long-time favorite of mine and always produces luxurious and beautiful gowns. The Milena is no different. It has a back that dips into the Tropic of Capricorn and a bodice that dips to the Tropic of Cancer and entire continents of ruffles.  Now as to those best-laid plans….

IFW10 – Lusts of the Flesh

In addition to getting a concentrated does of high fashion and raising funds for charity, events like International Fashion Week also introduce us to new creators – perhaps not new to the grid, but new to us. This IFW10 I discovered more than one new-to-me designer, but only one was also a new-to-me word – Convoitise. So I had to look it up and while it can mean covet or desire, I had to go with the last one for the blog title in light of the micro-mini but macro-sexy dress from Convoitise.
