Noob Surfing

So it seems odd but I don’t actually recall ever properly surfing. I’ve used surf boards as props, but I can’t remember ever riding one out on the waves. So I decided to do that this morning.

I learned some things. Such as, I’m impatient. I kept clicking REZZ on the surfboard sign, and it kept not rezzing and I’d click it again and nothing and I’d click it again and again and finally I was thinking HELL FORGET IT when I moved my camera angle I saw, OH, they were rezzing on the other side of a small brush of sea grass in front of me.

According to ABOUT.COM MaiTai translates into OUT OF THIS WORLD in Tahitian.  It’s a rum drink and one of the most delicious treats to make you feel like you’re having a real grown up cocktail. It contains two kinds of rum for god’s sake.

Cocktails like that were made back when men were men and women were ladies or dames. Bliensen + MaiTai for Hair Fair 2013 has served up fantastic vintage looks that are elegant and true to the period they’re representing.

What Can I Do In Slink(y) Stilettos

It started off like a fashion blog might. I took some shots of a lovely cocktail ring from Maxi Gossamer. I was delighted that it sits next to my wedding ring – I LOVE wearing more than one ring.

Then I shot the shoes.

And I had this THOUGHT! I’d do a THEN AND NOW OF THE STILETTOS OF MY SL.

Because, the world has changed. I dug into my inventory with glee planning to show you how far we’d come when I realized – I’d deleted them in a rare inventory purge. Which is sad, because they were really something. I’d gotten them in a freebie box at this place that had tons of free or cheap furniture and you could game there. YEAH that’s how long ago I got them. I looked on MP, so great was my zeal to show them to you, but alas, the great MAGIC BOX SUNDERING of 2013 must have obliterated them all.

I Hired a Personal Assistant Fairy

I decided that it was high time I too acknowledged how fancy and important I was by getting myself a personal assistant in SL. However, I didn’t want one I would pay a pittance and then would be responsible for answering customer NCs if they came in, and for reminding me to make items for events.

No, I wanted on that would be at my beck and call 24/7 and who would make things appear that I wanted, for no other reason than because I was dreaming of them in RL. I wanted someone with MAGIC.

Several Shoots Later

I shot this outfit five times. Five different times. This is a grand departure from my old self, wherein I would say TO HELL WITH THIS OUTFIT and delete it all and you’d never see it.

I used to feel like, it just wasn’t meant to be, if the pics were all shite. But that’s more Presbyterian than I care to be, so I kept going back and back and back to the studio, or that studio, or this location, or at my house, until eventually I even made myself a projector and played with it until I came up with these pics. This simple little dress from Drift is a perfect summer dress, loose-fitting and casual. It comes with a HUD so you can choose all the colors. In fact, it comes with two textures, a cotton knit and this lovely satin and each texture has its own little hud full of color. However, I thought I would wear it with some leggings because it was a little breezy and I was afraid the wind would catch it and cause an indiscretion. The Lydia Slingbacks that Ingenue did for Collabor88 are as perfect as can be.

The bolt leggings from MichaMi sure look great with it. I had to go to XS to get it to fit under the dress, but that okay since the dress covers the skinny butt. Well, not completely. When I walked, the dress and leggings intersected from behind, so moving was more of a circumnavigation so that I faced forward.

The Drama Train Never Stops On Sunday

There is something to be said for Sundays away from the computer. You miss a lot of name calling and raging and shenanigans. It seems like, on Sundays, our friends are unable to defend themselves and require us to rage against people that they may or may not be mad at. It also seems like, everything and everyone can’t just like, don’t worry be happy.

I however, opt for the latter. I made jello. Jello is, in my belief, one of the finest treats around. I am considering making something that I am told Australians love, Fairy Bread. I don’t know yet, that’s a maybe. Continue reading →

Take a Chill Pill

I am sure more than one person feels like telling folks to take a chill pill, but luckily this month that phrase won’t be a rude dismissal and instead is the very wise and sound advice sending folks to Collabor88 where the theme is Chill Pill and the colors and aesthetic are Nineties Brights. Perfect exemplars of the Chill are these bangles and the necklace from Maxi Gossamer for Collabor88. The fun and funky nails with the googly eyes are from FLAIR. They even have a narrow stripe of orange down the outsides.

And I am mostly decked out in the chill clothing and accessories from Collabor88. The top, skirt and belt are a single piece dress from VinCue. It comes in a range of colors, full of the fun of mixing wild colors together. It’s perfect for hanging out at the It’s Only Fashion blog office.

Form & Function

There are some things in SL that just strike my fancy.  The dress form is one of them. I love dress forms.  I love that creators are whimsical enough to create dress forms.  This month has seen an abundance of them.  Allegory Malaprop of Schadenfreude and Julliette Westerburg of Tres Blah both released dress forms as part of their Arcade Gacha items. Sienia Trevellion of Lark also released a lovely dress form and I pulled an older version that I’m particularly fond of out of my inventory, one by Theosophy’s Trace Osterham.
