Three Day Weekend

We are taking a short vacation at It’s Only Fashion while our blog migrates to a privately hosted server run by Kesseret Steeplechase. We have been wanting to do this for a long time, but neither of us had the technical fortitude to take it on. This will allow us to do some things we can’t do on regular wordpress which makes us happy. However, that does mean a short vacation while Kess moves stuff and the new DNS percolates through the web. It has me so excited, I jumped for joy. Thank goodness I was wearing mesh!

My dress is from Prizm and the style is called Adele. It comes in different prints and this one is called San Diego Dots. I think is should have been called Torley Scrumptious. While it is rigged and their medium fit my medium standard sized frame, I did have to reduce my upper leg size just a bit to keep my thigh from showing right at the very bottom of the green band below the blouson skirt.

I love the deep, rich red in this sexy, transgressive little dress from Diram. I also love the contrast between the soft draping neckline and the bold, militaristic shoulder pads complete with spike. It’s a dress that reflects dueling ideas that come together in a striking combination. I love the shoulder details, but must confess that getting the shoulders and collar to fit every pose is extremely difficult. It looks pretty good for just walking and standing, but changing poses presents real challenges to the sculpts.

naughty but nice (nsfw)

This corset I’m wearing had been sitting in my favorites on the marketplace for a while. I saw it and was like “whoa…that’s neat-o”. Of course, I’m not sure what occasion would call for a corset with large spikes but if there is ever such occasion…I’m f’n ready! The corset has nice detail BUT it’s no mod (it has a resizer which is fine too). Perhaps I dont understand the mechanics of sculpts but I assume that if something comes with an alpha layer…it doesn’t need an invisible prim around it anymore. This has one of those..it’s really annoying because when you are standing with your arms to the side, parts go missing due to this invisible prim. So, now I have mixed feelings about my new corset. Thursday Night's Alright for Dancing

The newest mesh dress from Chantkare is made for dancing. I was checking out the March Mesh Madness event, standing with the eager hordes waiting for stuff to rez so I could actually see one article of clothing when I got an IM inviting me to a club where they were playing a set of TV theme song covers in honor of Davy Jones. So I set myself the question, “do i want to continue to swim in the lag waiting to see something – anything – or do I want to go listen to a weirdly appealing idea for a music set?”

And that’s how I ended up at Soundproof, the new club opened by Paradox Messner who has DJed at The Velvet for years. And yes, it was a fun set – full of great musical covers that I had never heard before and of course, culminating with “Hey, hey, we’re the Monkees…” As to March Mesh Madness, I am going to try staying up late and logging in after folks have gone to sleep. Just don’t everybody else try that.

Mami Jewell produced it in eight luscious colors, including one with an amazing opalescent fabric, but I could not resist the naughty nearly nude color of this one. ChouChou Ch-Boogie

ChouChou has returned for a short time and I popped over to check it out. I opted to adopt their region windlight settings to see it as they wanted it to be seen. It sure is dramatic, though you cannot see my outfit. I wandered around and then noticed that their other sims were open, too, so I popped over to Babel.

Babel is also very dramatic with a seemingly never-ending stairway with lots of boxes – each with a short measure of music that affects the play of music as you climb the stairs. This is a sim that you simply must have your sound turned up so you can experience it at its best. I was wearing a sweater from Diapop for Back 2 Black – the awareness campaign for mental health issues. This sweater focuses on comfort and it really is a comfy sweater, isn’t it?
