My Morning Adventure

My morning started simple enough, I thought I’d blog a dress that I had hung on my dressing room wall months ago, as decoration. I’d kind of forgotten it was a dress. But upon looking at it, I wasn’t sure it’d fit. Maybe Gidge had gained weight… Continue reading

What's Black and White and Re(a)d All Over?

Jan08_008

I like red, white and black – or shades of gray and red. When I put this outfit together, for some reason that childhood riddle popped into my head. If for some reason, you don’t know the answer, it’s a newspaper. I wonder if the internet will make that riddle obsolete? Anyway, I am black and white and red all over with this outfit made with pieces from Peqe’s summer and Christmas collection and a sweater from Alexohol. The sweater is lovely and I love the quirky irregularity of the buttons that remind me of when I have sewn on buttons. The top is from Peqe’s Christmas release and I love it with the flared pants from Summer.

Three Moody Monday Pretties For Your Viewing Pleasure

“Only great minds can afford a simple style.” ~ Stendhal

It’s Moody Monday and the merchants have lined up so many pretties I couldn’t decide which to blog. Maybe if I get energetic I’ll do more later. But so far, for your viewing pleasure I’ve got a cute owl necklace from ADDICTION and makeups! YAY! Continue reading

It's Snowing at Baffle

jan04_003

I dressed up for a nice sunny day in this top from u.f.o. and popped over the Baffle beach and was surprised to see that snow had come to Baffle. I would have rushed off to a more comfortable climate for my open-toed Lizettes from Kalnins, but I saw footprints of someone walking barefoot. I had to hang around to see who this intrepid weather warrior was and maybe catch some hot guy running from the sauna to the sea.

New Year's Eve Eve

Alicia Chenaux had a New Year’s Eve EVE party and I had a new outfit so I went over. Between the talk of wieners and what we’re looking for in them (my vote, tasty) it was a great time and so I thought I’d shoot what I wore since you still have time to snatch it up for yourself for a proper NYE party.

Look at this bird. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH THIS BIRD? I have no idea I’m kind of scared of it. Continue reading

The gift of silence

Dec23b_008

I was wandering about on Christmas Eve enjoying the quiet as I visited a few sims. I stopped at Alirium and wandering among the trees I came across an elk. I stopped and waited quietly, hoping he would not hear and take flight. Fortunately for me, elk in Second Life are much more calm and prone to stay in place than real life elk. I was once closer than this to an elk. I was deer hunting with my brothers, standing post on the side of a meadow while my older brother walked through the woods making noise so the deer would flee in our general direction. I heard a soft huff behind me and turned slowly and right across the old logging road, about 8 feet away was an old elk. You could see he was an ancient of the forest, far too old and tough for good venison. We looked at each other, both of us still and silent, and stood there hushed for what felt like several minutes but in the relativity of time may have been only seconds. After a bit, he made another huffing sound and walked quietly away. Later I showed my brothers his tracks and told them about how magical it was and they were thrilled for me. People often ask why I didn’t shoot him, though my brothers never did. They, like me, thought he had earned his peaceful passage.

Merry Gidgemas

dec27_002

I decided to show you what I wore to Gidge’s party on Monday. It was a Christmas sweater party, but I ignored the ugly part in the ugly Christmas sweater instructions and wore this lovely Christmas sweater from artilleri. I was not alone. Three of us there wore it in green and one wore it in blue! This was a popular sweater. I paired it with the red mesh miniskirt released last week by mon tissu. My booties are 2 years old, from Redgrave. They had huge invisiprims, but I edited them into a nubbin and hid them inside my feet. I tried on a few alphas until I found one that worked. With that, they work as though they were made this year.

And here’s one of my Christmas presents from Gidge – Christmas earrings and a necklace from Frangipani Garden! The hair is a new release from Exile called Veronique.

I Like Big Boots And I Cannot Lie

I wasn’t much of a boot wearer before I met Jackal Ennui but she certainly changed my foot covering preferences. Between her original releases of romantic, intricately detailed boots to her new mesh releases, I’ve enjoyed all of her inspirations that warm my feet. Continue reading

Aging Well

dec11b_003

I was so intrigued by the notecard announcing the newest skin release from Baiastice. A mature skin? I had hopes that, coming from Baiastice, it would be an elegant and fashionable mature skin, unlike the majority of aged skins that are mere caricatures. They have their place and have been inspiration for some brilliant parodies, but a healthy attitude toward aging should have room for the elegance of aging well as well as the comedic parodies of aging. Happily, the skin did not disappoint. It was, for me, significant in being named Sophie, so very close to my mother’s name. People often remarked on her elegance and she was elegant, despite being a pocket-sized 5’1″ who was dwarfed by my 6’2″ father. She had beautiful, thick auburn hair that silvered to a shining silver as she aged. She usually made her own clothing, though I loved shopping for outfits for her. She carried swatches of fabric in her purse that represented her palette, so when shopping for fabric, she could see how the new fabric worked with her palette. This dress reminds me of a vintage Oscar de la Renta I got for her with a beautiful peach floral print. It was not strapless, though! She wore it with a crocheted dark coral short jacket that was so lush – not exactly like this fur collar embellishment, but close enough i was immediately reminded of it.
