I love copper and bronze much more than silver and gold. They seem to have so much more life to them. They are more interesting colors. So when I saw this sillk blouse at Baiastice I jumped on it. It’s just such a gorgeous shade of copper.

Slow down, you move too fast.
You got to make the morning last.
Just kicking down the cobble stones.
Looking for fun and feelin’ groovy.
I was certainly feeling groovy when I put on the lovely new sunglasses from Lelutka. A fun surprise group gift, I could not resist adding them to this fun little outfit featuring a sweater and skirt from MiaMai.

Magnifico Exclusive is new to me. Finding new stores is one of the great benefits of exhibitions like The Future is Now and I think this was a great find. I think it projects a strong attitude that had me reaching for the pack of Attitude poses from Studio Sidhe.

The trouble with naming an exhibition The Future is Now: 2010 is that it leads to thinking about what that means. The Future is always now in that our decisions today determine the future, but I wonder if with our faster world of today, it might be that Now is the Future. I hope not. As our communication systems get more universal, faster and more interconnected, we have become able to create world-wide networks of friends and acquaintances that involve us in new ways in a broader world. This leads me to hope and optimism and that our decisions will be smarter, less parochial and in that way, the future is now – or could be. There’s a grimmer counter effect, however, to our faster, more efficient communications. People have all sorts of theories and ideas, but I kind of think of it as the Relentlessness of Now. We know so much of what is happening NOW that NOW drives our decision making process more than the future. This leads to unfortunate, sometimes disastrous decision-making on the individual and the national and international levels. Much of the global financial crisis can be directly credited to Now trumping the Future in investment and planning. Sometimes we need to slow down and think – and think about the future, because if Now is the Future that we plan for, we are in trouble.
But enough about that. The Future is Now event is actually a celebration of thinking past today and anticipating a future unknowable and unexpected – full of delights and mysteries and life of all kinds. You will be seeing all sorts of fantastical imaginings from this event – but I am drawn to the more earth-centered exploration of futuristic clothing that is wearable today. The Disconnected Dress from Baiastice is just that. I can imagine it being worn on a starship or on a sidewalk – and that’s wonderful.

The Old Man Is Snoring!
It’s a bit chilly today with the rain and the wind, so I decided to wear something toasty. The lovely fur jacket from COCO is just the thing. Adding the high-waisted tuxedo pants which are a nice wind-resisting wool will keep me comfy and still chic.

Baiastice’s new release of the CAGE TOP was an on the fly inspiration to do a shoot together and Cajsa knew just the place to go – IMMERSIVA.
To me it was extremely GUNSLINGERISH – and I kept expecting Roland and company to come rolling through chasing the Man in Black. Well – like UltraModern Gunslinger – just as parts of the book are quite anachronistic, the sim reeks of both primitive and ultramodern tones. It is, not to put too fine a point on it – extraordinary.

With bold and futuristic design this top has two options, one modest – as we’re wearing so you can’t see ALL of our goodies, and one NOT so modest, with your goodies on full display. We’ve also added Baiastice’s LEATHER RIDE pants because if we’re going to chase the Man in Black – we need sensible pants. Continue reading

Those physicists who employ the chronology protection conjecture to assert that one cannot travel in time have never been in Second Life where one can travel from Stonehenge to Ancient Greece to newly imagined cyber-futures in mere seconds. That such travel is restricted to the digital world at the moment is merely a factor of our technological limitations, but our imagination has no such limitation. Imagination was set free for the Rezzable® event @ Greenies Home. Called The Future Is Now, it features the fashion imagination of some of Second Life’s most well known and most experimental designers.

Event organizer Winter Jefferson gifted me with one of the lovely gowns from the collection by a designer who foresees a future that still has time and space for romance and frills. From Bliss Couture, the futuristic Xennah gown is an exuberant homage to romantic finery which inspired me to do some time traveling back to the ancient ruins of Stonehenge on the CAM1 sim.

Tain’t what you do, it’s the way that you do it.
Tain’t what you do, it’s the way that you do it.

That’s what gets results!

We would all benefit if we took this song to heart, wouldn’t we? I think when you look at Sissy Pessoa, you can see she has. I have been enjoying her designs since 2007 and have loved watching her learn new skills and expand her line. When I first started shopping at Baiastice, she made beautiful clothing. Then she made some purses and sunglasses. She was prolific and you had to hop all over the grid to her different stores to see her entire output. Then she finally got a sim and you could see everything in one place – and she started making shoes. Amazing shoes! And then she started to make skins – and always, getting better. Her clothing also got stronger and better as she began to experiment with sculpts and new shapes. She has never rested on her laurels and has yet to plateau. You can see that constant striving in this gorgeous gown and her lovely new skin line – Casting.

When Winter Jefferson challenged Gidge to style an outfit featuring Exile’s exuberant Zoe hair, she rose to the challenge and threw down the gauntlet. Well, it seems Lord Winter is too busy planning his upcoming nuptials to Tenshi Vielle to answer the challenge – but never fear, I decided to give it a go and flap that glove in Winter’s face a few times. After all, shouldn’t a challenger actually do the challenge, too? So, here it is: Exile’s Zoe. Yes, it’s a wild and hairy sort of challenge – literally. However, I found it was deceptively easy. You see, the hair may be wild and full of exuberance, but it’s expertly placed exuberance that somehow just didn’t seem to intersect nearly as much as I expected. I really did not have to do a lot of searching for poses that work.

I did, however, think it deserved somethind wild, so I raided a pants set from Chatkare for the top and paired it with the truly wild Feather Skirt from So Many Styles.

We’re all alone, no chaperone

The world’s in slumber–let’s misbehave!!!
There’s something wild about you child
That’s so contagious
Let’s be outrageous–let’s misbehave!!!
While MiaMai’s new Venom dress doesn’t make me feel particularly poisonous, I thought it is definitely hot enough to lead to temptation – so let’s misbehave.
