With the lovely hat from Bliss Couture and the sleek pencil skirt, everything about this outfit is so very chic, but the polka dots and the bright cherry red point me toward rockabilly. In fact, RC Cola and a Moon Pie ran through my head the entire time I was blogging.

The new FROSTBITE Cottage from Trompe Loeil has been released for Collabor88 and I couldn’t wait to rezz it and see how cozy and wintery it was. I chose the white but there are several color variations and you can opt for frosted windows or not just by touch.

Kauna has Christmas Sweaters for men and women in all the holiday shades and patterns at faMESHed. Everyone needs a Christmas Sweater for holiday pictures, parties and holiday cheer.
Until glaucoma took away her ability to see the details, my mother knit a sweater for me every Christmas. I can remember most of them. My least favorite was a traditional Scandinavian pullover in red, white and blue she made for me when I was in 3rd grade, even then my color palette was subtler than that. My favorite was a longer tunic sweater she knit in a dark sienna with a Scandinavian knit border print from hip to mid thigh with sienna, pumpkin, cream and dark forest green. One of the most stunning was one she knit of variegated yarn that through serendipity happened to have the exact number of stitches so the yarn formed a gorgeous argyle plaid pattern on the front panel. She knit a gorgeous lacy shell one year that was so soft and made with such fine yarn I could squeeze it into a ball in one hand. The last one she made before her vision dimmed permanently was a soft dove gray, seashell pink and white Scandinavian cardigan with silver buttons. I loved my sweaters and their loss is one of the harder losses from our house fire.
That’s why I dislike the “Ugly Christmas Sweater” trope. How can a sweater made with love ever be ugly?
Brains brains brains… It’s tough to remember where I put them after a day of chemotherapy, but luckily Acha’s Animus (boy soul, Jungian term) seems to have ’em for me. He’s in my newest acquisition from Lassitude & Ennui (for the challenge). OK, Jackal might have handed me something even newer, but (to tease you) I can’t blog it until next week. These boots totally suit my Animus’ incarnation as a Deer-shifter. Right? “Come. Run with me and my reindeer this Christmas.” Lol.

There’s a nip in the air today that asks for a big, comfy sweater. And you can find just the thing at Zenith for the With Love Hunt. This is a nice, tunic sweater with a beautiful snowflake pattern on the bottom. It also comes with a big woolen scarf to wrap around your neck that is edged with round puffballs of yard. The scarf even has a color change HUD to let you choose among the different colors in the sweater to coordinate. It’s not cold enough, though, to haul out the scarf today.
I realized I was almost grey from head to toe and couldn’t resist the fun with the 50 shades reference, but I didn’t actually ever read it so, I’ll probably have to leave it there. Continue reading
hyasynth Tiramisu of ~silentsparrow~ in L&E’s Thecla boots
My oldest friend in Second Life is hyasynth Tiramisu, and she was kind enough to model one of her oldest pairs of Lassitude & Ennui shoes for the Seven years of Lassitude & Ennui challenge. Actually… hyasynth originally put on shoes that came in two parts, but the prims never un-chunked for me, poor old shoes! So we settled on the Thecla boots, which are not all that old (a few years?), and still very beautiful.
My own oldest pair of L&E shoes are probably a little pair of Victorian heels that I got during my year of living in Caledon. Jackal lived there too, and I met her for the first time at a small concert that someone threw. I fangirled all over her, and she handed me a pair of sculpted flats (the Chloe flats), her first sculpties. “You seem to really have a purpose in SL,” I told her with great envy. “I don’t have that purpose yet!” Then Jackal disappeared into WoW for a year, and I slowly began to blog more and more, setting myself the goal of one blog post a day on my modest little blog (www.achariya.net) so that my blogging skills would improve. I wore many more of Jackal’s shoes…and many more of hyasynth’s clothes. And by the time Jackal returned, she had a whole new series of skills to apply to her creations.
It’s funny how sometimes stuff, and certain outfits, can bring on a whole slew of memories. hyasynth in those boots reminds me of the days when I blogged a lot, and hya had the time away from a 9-5 day job to create a lot of beautiful things, and Jackal had just returned to SL…

My computer has been hobbling along lately, in need of a new graphics card and system upgrades. That is one reason why I shoot fewer pictures with shadows and projectors. I can crash if I even think about doing that. But the worst symptom is how antisocial my computer has become. Any crowd, even if I drop RenderAvatarMaxVisible to 1 overwhelms and crashes my computer. I can rez about two people before crashing, so when I DJ I zoom in on the wall so I don’t see anyone. Needless to say, huge events like the Arcade Gacha are completely off limits. I saw one item in the shopping guide that I wanted desperately. I did run around to several yard sales on this huge list of gacha yard sales, but the people who are buying the pesca stoles are keeping them. Fortunately, I get by with a little help from my friends. The red plaid stole I wore yesterday was a gift from Gidge and Sylvia Olivier dropped this and a pink version of the Pesca stoles on me. They are certainly my favorite of the Arcade Gacha treasures made even better by virtue of the generosity of friends.
Saiyge Lotus of Balderdash in L&E’s Wanderlust boots
Tonight I thought about my favorite boots by Lassitude & Ennui. They are the Wanderlust boots, and they come hand in hand with my favorite people and activities in Second Life. What I’ve always loved most about blogging was not taking pictures of myself, but instead collaborating with other people. I decided that for the “my favorite item” part of the Seven years of Lassitude & Ennui challenge, I’d do my favorite thing — photograph someone else. I love the Wanderlust boots because of the shape and construction. They look like a pair of boots that can kick some ass while being perfectly in place at a Babbage banquet, elegantly flexible!
The avatar that I felt perfectly embodies the Wanderlust boots is Saiyge Lotus. There’s something rakishly fey about her avatar and all of her creations that puts me in mind of far journeyings in magical realms. Could it be the vardos, or the rest of her creations? Or perhaps her personal style, a fine magical realist mix of contemporary and fairy? Maybe all of it. Saiyge was kind enough to pause in her creation of Yuletide fare and lean against a vardo for me.
