If you have not snapped your holiday pictures yet…

Where to Shoot Holiday Pictures

Aren’t these Leith boots from Schadenfreude hot? You can find them at Collabor88 and if I had been smarter, I would have bought the fat pack.

If you have not snapped you holiday pictures yet, you could not do better than heading over to Wishing Well where Incendia Outdoors has created dozens of scenes perfect for holiday pictures. This is a snap in front of the fire, for all you know I could be roasting chestnuts.

Where to Shoot Holiday Pictures

You can even take a sleigh ride to tour the scenes before deciding where and what you want to shoot.

The Rose Theater

dec21_002

A trip to Second Life’s® Rose Theater requires a gown worthy of the venue and this recent release from VoguE Fashion is in all ways worthy. It has the regal red, black and gold colors, rich and strong colors that for centuries have signified formal elegance. The gown has a rich brocade band marking the chevroned drop waist and a bodice of red glass beans embellished with gold threads. Even the lush shoulder fur is dusted with gold. My jewelry from Donna Flora for My Second Box is just a regal and rich and the topaz gems are huge.

So Gidge and I Went Shopping

Dec19_005

One of the best things about getting my computer fixed is being able to go to places where there are people around and the best of that is that Gidge and I can go shopping together again. We had a lot of fun running from store to store and checking out the events. We good around when we shop, stopping at faMESHed to sit at the table (Gidge bought it) and try all the poses. She blogged the gorgeous coat she picked up on our shopping trip to Vero Moderno, so I thought I would show you the dress. It’s a one-shouldered shift with five tiers of pastel plaid, a lovely outfit that seemed to be right at home next to a larger-than-life lollipop.

Entertaining for Christmas

dec18_004

This year I get to host Christmas dinner and have been menu-planning for over a week and dithering back and forth between the many ideas rolling around in my head. I know exactly what I plan to make for my first course and second course, but the third course is giving me fits. I am serving beef tenderloin, but folks like a starch with their main course, so I am trying to choose between Pommes Anna, Patatas Aioli or Mushroom Risotto. I am planning on roasted vegetables for the other side dish. Anyway, my shopping list grows and luckily I have a gorgeous clutch to carry it and a handy pen around for reminding me of things I need to buy. 🙂

Inspiration Unfolds

dec16_009

Monica Outlander of MiaMai released her newest collection on December 8th. I love her shows. They are always an extravagant and imaginative work of art with music, text, illustration, photography and fashion coming together in a meaningful and thoughtful performance. I missed the show this time since my computer was still in need of repairs, but that doesn’t mean I missed the collection.

I found myself inspired by this rich brocade gown that brings together traditional formality in texture with a modern silhouette and avant garde embellishment. While brocade has been around for over a millennium, it reached its heyday in the 18th century. I have a mental image of one of the weavers who produced the lush silks for the Sun King’s Court seeing this brocade gown with its antlers and wings and wondering why she had not thought of that.

The Parties of Christmas Are Upon Us

Dec15d_006

Sissy Pessoa of Baiastice releases a gorgeous collection of stunning holiday gowns every year and this year, with mesh in her masterful hands, the holiday collection is more gorgeous than ever. This Juliet dress is a stunning cocktail dress that can be worn two ways, with the yoke and hem sheer or opaque. Its rich jewel tones and its wrapping paper shimmer are simply perfect.

Awake and Unfold

And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom” ~ Anaïs Nin

Last Saturday the 2012 Miamai Black Label collection was revealed during an immersive and beautiful show called “Unfold” which was about the painful but full of hope journey from our inner fears and desperation to the birth of a new life. From the dark to the light. From the cocoon to the flight.

It was a stunning and meaningful show, everything was perfect, the spectators had to wear a moth avatar to get in. Brilliant.
If you missed it, you can watch the video made by Thalia Heckroth , an amazing capture of an amazing event.

In the following pictures i’m going to show you two pieces of the collection, breathtaking dress and boots created by the talented Monica Outlander and Pill Kanto.
*bows to Monica and Pill*

The gorgeous skin i’m wearing is from Glam Affair, a special version of Amberly, it’s called Unfold and, along with some others, Aida Ewing created it for the show, only for the show, and i feel honoured and lucky to have them.

I’ll add some excerpts from the beautiful poem especially written for the show by Kathryn O’ Driscoll ( Keira Seerose inworld ) and which accompanied the show itself, telling about the transition from cocoon to flight. Here you can find the whole six parts of this touching poem, they should be read together and in order.

Finally,Grace

Oh, mother,
Mine creatrix, help me.
Oh, won’t you lend me some new air to breathe.
I feel I may stew to death in melancholia;
Will I see you there?

Exodus

They say that the blackness,
the ravenous cave, has devoured me.
They talk of me,
as if I am not here. Am I?

Hello there! :)

*suddenly enters the room, visibly excited, waving at everyone*

Hello folks, Olela is back 🙂

RL kept me really busy the last three months, lots of things happened, i’ve also moved. I missed SL, i missed blogging, i missed you! Now i’m back and my inventory seems sooo poor and full of old stuff, but this problem will be fixed soon with lots of shopping which has already started. It feels so good, oh yeah! 😀

I received an amazing dress from the talented Aliza Karu, it’s one of her latest releases and i love it so much that i’ve decided to wear it in the first snaps i’ve taken after my return.

Covetousness

It’s called Covetousness, it’s mesh and also comes with sculpted skirt and hat which i’m not wearing in the picture. Aliza never stops amazing me!

Trust me

The adorable skin is the Pink Fuel item from the With Love hunt, the lovely hair is Ramona from esk-imo.

I took these snaps at Lea1 and played a bit with the Phototools settings, one of the new veeery interesting features of the latest Firestorm Major release.

I hope you’ll enjoy them, as much as my look 🙂

I’ll be back soon with some other wonderful stuff to show you, yayyyy!

Ciao 🙂 xxx

Christmas comes to New York

My Barnesworth Anubis NYC Skybox Apartment, that is! This has to be my favorite skybox yet by Mr. Anubis. I fell in love with his skyboxes when I bought one at Collabor88 a while back and now I have a kind of crazy fascination with them.

I’ve just put the finishing touches on my holiday decorations and I thought I would share with you….

NY Apt 3

Nothing is better than spending the day relaxing by a fire after working so hard to put all those decorations out….
More after the cut….

In a World of Gray

oct24_003

When I unpacked the gorgeous vintage-styled Vale dress from Donna Flora, I knew I wanted to style myself completely in black and white. A noir avatar in a pixel world. The effect was a fun combination of chic and shriek that had me heading to Silent’s haunted house for some pictures. The dress is a classic fitted bodice with a tulip skirt. Its most vintage elements come from the bolero jacket with the wide rounded lapels and the puffed shoulders. The floral corsage pin adds a bit more retro styling.
