Surfin’ Safari

faMESHed G. Field

GField made a gorgeous swimsuit for faMESHed. It’s sassy and oh, so adorable. It comes in four gorgeous summer colors so you always have one to wear while the others are drying.

I had to try out the fun pose set with props from oOo Studio for Vintage Fair – so I popped over to the Second Life Surfing Association’s sim and paddled out to catch some waves. Continue reading

I love the cute summer dress from NYU for faMESHed. It comes in a rainbow of colors that inspired me to try out a new trick with projectors in Second Life. There’s a video tutorial from Torley Linden at the end of the post explaining how to do it and you will want to try – it was a lot of fun.  As to the lovely cotton summer dress, you know it will be cool, breezy and a delight in the hot weather.

Morning Lounge – A Vintage Fair Preview

Wednesday is never easy. People try to pop around happy proclaiming Happy Hump day or other inane blather but to me, it’s like omg, the weekend – so FAR away. This morning I couldn’t be arsed to do more than lay about my house and consider getting up. Just consider it. Continue reading

She’s A Little Runaway – a Vintage Fair Preview

I’m running away. It’s settled. You can’t make me stay, you don’t understand my music or my friends or anything THAT MATTERS TO MEEEEEEEE.

No wait, that’s not right. I’m all grown up. Hmmmmm. What is it then? Continue reading

Hope for Emilia: Rebuilding Lives, Restoring Hope

Hello, everyone, i hope you’re all doing good.

I’m super stressed ’cause of the mega heat Summer has brought especially in Southern Italy, plus i’m more busy than ever at work: fun, isn’t it?? 😛

Anyway, i absolutely can’t complain first of all because i’m alive, then because i have a house, because i did not lose family or friends in the terrible earthquake that last May (the 20th ) hit the Emilia Romagna region, in Northern Italy, registering a magnitude of 6.1. In the following days many aftershocks and additional earthquakes struck the same area with terrible damages: 26 people died and thousands are now homeless, living in tents.

So, no, i can’t complain at all.

HOPE FOR EMILIA is an important event which started on the 22nd of July and will run  through to the 9th of August:  it includes a Summer Fashion Fair, fashion shows, an art expo and entertainment events to fundraise for the victims of earthquake in Emilia, Italy.

The talented and generous designers participating in the fair  offer exclusive items with 100% of the proceeds being donated to assist the citizens affected by the earthquakes.

Read here for more infos.

Please watch this video, created by the Pyramid Café Group, a video which explains well what happened in Emilia and the Hope for Emilia event:

*sighs*

In the following picture i’m showing the AD Creations exclusive item for the event:

Emilia

It’s a lovely 50’s goth mesh swimsuit which you can’t help but admire: Aliza Karu did it again, everything she creates is a lil piece of art and this time she did it for an important cause.      *Bows to Aliza*

Please, guys, come to the event and donate. Thank you.

Thanks Aliza, thanks organizers and designers, thanks Pyramid Cafè.

I love this fabulous cocktail dress from Gizza for Vintage Fair. It comes in five lovely shades of silk shantung and is embellished with a striking, bold bodice of black Venetian lace.

3379

jul29_005

This is the 3379th post at It’s Only Fashion – they do add up, don’t they? Why did I point that out? Mainly because I could not think of anything to organize this post around. I thought about writing about the effing brilliant Olympic Opening Ceremony – a democracy’s response to the despotic precision of China – but that doesn’t have anything to do with this outfit. I thought about writing about the ineffable presumption of some folks who are so quick to criticize others (creators, event planners, bloggers and photographers to name a few) and how that drip, drip, drip of negativity wears and erodes the spirit – but that doesn’t have anything to do with this outfit. I thought about writing about the fear of rejection that makes clicking an Add Friend button a fraught exercise in risk analysis – but that doesn’t have anything to do with this outfit either. But – I was wearing this outfit when these topics came up and somehow they came to mind when I started to blog.

I even thought about blogging about the upcoming Vintage Fair. After all, the skirt from Peqe has a vintage flair. The fabulous print jacket is called Vintage and the set is Long Angel’s Vintage Picture Window set. I guess three vintages could make that work, couldn’t it? Even if none of the pieces are at the Vintage Fair?  So, yes, Vintage Fair is coming – opening August 4th and running to August 29th. I am excited and know many of you will be, too, but there are only a few peeks and previews on Flickr and elsewhere. I know it will be wonderful, but how wonderful is still a mystery.

Bandana Day 2012 – from Gidge

As Cajsa so eloquently put it, Hair Fair culminates today  in us taking off our hair to celebrate the beauty inside of us all.  Our hair is a mane that speaks to the world before we open our mouths, but how much more important is our character and person than that? A thousandfold.

It’s why I am ecstatic every year when Hair Fair occurs. Not because we love hair (we do). But because it’s about something bigger and more important than our hair do’s and blogger selves.

I want to thank Sasy Scarborough and her amazing team for once again putting on an event to be proud of, an event that speaks to us all and shows us that real beauty is more than the sum of our parts.

The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries or the way she combs her hair.
~ Audrey Hepburn

Bandana Day

jul29_012

Today is Bandana Day, the culmination of Hair Fair, the last hurrah of the most widely and avidly anticipated fashion event of the year. We have drooled, fawned and mulled over the offerings of the many hair stylists. We have spent the last two weeks discovering new ones that excite our interest and rediscovering old stylists we have neglected. Perennial favorites have proven their worth again and brand new brands have shown that age isn’t everything. And here we are, on the final day taking a moment to be a little more serious and reflect on the ultimate and abiding purpose of Hair Fair, providing hair to children who have lost their own due to medical reasons.
