Queen Mab

sep29_025.jpg

I am the Fairy Mab: to me ‘tis given
The wonders of the human world to keep;
The secrets of the immeasurable past,
In the unfailing consciences of men,
Those stern, unflattering chroniclers, I find;
The future, from the causes which arise
In each event, I gather; not the sting
Which retributive memory implants
In the hard bosom of the selfish man,
Nor that ecstatic and exulting throb
Which virtue’s votary feels when he sums up
The thoughts and actions of a well-spent day,
Are unforeseen, unregistered by me;
And it is yet permitted me to rend
The veil of mortal frailty, that the spirit,
Clothed in its changeless purity, may know
How soonest to accomplish the great end
For which it hath its being, and may taste
That peace which in the end all life will share.
This is the meed of virtue; happy Soul,
Ascend the car with me!’

The Looking Glass

sep27_006.jpg

Marcus Inkpen, whose amazing No Sound build for the Utopia Islands exhibition sims may be familiar to many of you, has a more recent build called The Looking Glass that is equally stunning and a beautiful setting to show off this gorgeous new suit from Sissy Pessoa’s fall collection for Baiastice.

sep27_001.jpg

The Looking Glass is a working sim with galleries and shops in beautifully built stores. As you can see through the window, these pictures were shot outside a gallery.

Loving Virtual Decay

sep27_017.jpg

One of my favorite places to shoot pictures is Virtual Decay with its grungy urban verisimilitude. It’s just such detailed and high quality build in terms of details. When I tried on these recent releases from Kunglers for Modavia Fashion Week (yes, I know it’s past, but there were too many releases that week to even show a tenth of them) I saw that same high quality detail, particularly in the fabulous Soraia Jacket.

Texture Love

sep26_009.jpg

Oh, that Sissy Pessoa! Her new collection is jumping up and down and hollering at me for attention because it’s just so luscious I want to wear it all at once. The colors are right up my alley with lovely creams, olives and salmons. What really has me excited about this dress, though, is the marvelous texture of the fabric. I love the three-dimensional look of it – as though it’s been puffed somehow – more like paper in some ways, than fabric.

The setting for this shoot was Carpe Diem – a lovely pastoral sim with wheat, farm buildings, animals and like any good garden – a snake.

MiaMai Moves Fashion Forward

sep26_005.jpg

I went to MiaMai’s Spleen and Ideasm Runway show on Saturday. It was more than a show, it was an exhibition and the clothing was fantastic in the most literal sense of the world. Depicting the epic struggle between good and evil, the clothing is wildly constructed, imaginative and strongly designed.

sep26_001.jpg

To highlight the modernism of the clothing – I decided to go to a sim with an old-fashion vintage feeling – Carpe Diem.

The Black Swan

sep23_005.jpg

Traveling on a space highway,
Three long years to this day.
A billion million trillion miles.
Home is a long, long way away.

From bow to stern she’s 20 miles long,
Ten miles high and wide.
A beautiful swan in a silent sea,
No water to slow her down.

sep23_001.jpg

Sometimes it seems we’re motionless,
Caught between time and space.
Other tiny star systems rush headlong by.
Signs are bursting in the rain

Luxuriating in Lingerie

Luxuria_007.jpg

The highly anticipated opening of Luxuria happened yesterday – with Roslin Petion’s release of her new lingerie collection. Roslin has been producing lingerie for her 5th & Oxford brand for a long-time and has a devoted following of people who admire her craftsmanship and skill in creating gorgeous hand-drawn clothing. The new Luxuria brand will focus on high-fashion, modern lingerie yet maintain the attention to quality and detail that often makes a person seek out vintage clothing. In the photo above, Gidge and I are wearing a sampling of all her releases, but I really have to focus on one in particular. Why? Vanity, of course!

Luxuria_022.jpg

Vanity, vanity, all is vanity! Of course I am going to focus on the Cajsa lingerie set and show you all the lovely jewel tones she made it in – because having clothes named for me makes my heart dance a little jig and sets me singing. I should point out that the pose box in the slideshow is from Dieselworks, but the many boxes used in the top photo are from Glitterati.

An Emerging Designer You Don't Want to Miss

sept25_002.jpg

I am going to see a fashion show this morning – the opening collection from Maven Haus (link to runway show) which will be shown at 11 AM and 6 PM SLT. I got a sneak peek last weekend when Applonia Criss of Chantkare im’ed me saying that there was a new designer, Elaera Maven, whose work she was sure I would like and offered a tp to come check him out. She was right and I snapped up this Captain outfit – loving its insouciance. I am eager to see the rest of the collection and suggest you all go to see this emerging designer.

sept25_004.jpg

Some of the elements that drew me to this outfit include the saucy little skirt that is a skirt in name only as all the coverage comes from the gorgeously baroque leggings. Still, it’s the skirt that really draws me in with its beautiful texture and the lovely ruffly form. The collar also pleased me a lot – reminding me of something that one of the Queen of Hearts many knaves might wear in Wonderland. Add the wildly wicked hat and the outfit is just irresistible.

360 Degrees of High Fashion

Scribble Saturday Morning_006.jpg

As a devoted Project Runway fan who has never missed an episode, I can remember dozens of outfits that impressed me coming down the runway only to crash into the Valley of Bad Design once the model turned and walked back to the curtain. A few episodes back Tim Gunn proffered some of his best advice ever, reminding the designer that good design is 360 degrees – looking good from all angles. Well, some designers he does not have to remind about that are Royal Blue’s Marni Grut and Kenzie & Co.’s Kenzie Craven. These clothes were created by designers so cognizant that good design looks great from the back and sides as well as the front, that I decided to showcase this look from the back.

Scribble Saturday Morning_004.jpg

The Kenzie & Co. Zipper Racerback is the most obviously designed with attention to the back – but look at the lovely Jodhpurs on Crack from Royal Blue – they make your bum look good and the houndstooth detailing adds interest coming and going. The photos were taken at The Looking Glass – a new build from Marcus Inkpen

Ooh, Baby, It's a Plaid World

sep18_004.jpg

Vogue made me happy by telling me that plaids are in this season. Of course, I could have told them that plaids should always be in, but that’s another story. Seriously though, can something as beautiful as this gorgeous full-length plaid taffeta skirt from Casa del Shai ever be anything but in? If this be plaid, give me more!

sep18_001.jpg

I shot this set at Alpha Point – a sim I discovered linguistically. I have shot many times at Omega Point. I don’t know why it took me this long to wonder whether there being an Omega meant there was an Alpha, but it did. I did a search and there it was. Alpha and Omega – should have known long ago.
