Float like a Butterfly

nov24_003

Applonia Criss of Chantkare has given us a floaty dream of a dress that had me popping over to the Musei di Roma Capitale where there’s this marvelous new exhibition with a hallway all aglow with shifting gold lights and marble columns. With a dress so elegant yet effervescent, I wanted a setting that seemed to have that same brilliant combination.

This jumpsuit makes my butt look sooooo cute!

Hiya!

Skin, jumpsuit and hair i’m wearing in the following pictures are some of my fav items ever and I must admit I have been wearing them quite a lot lately. I just love each of them and I think they go really great with each other.
You already know the Miamai jumpsuit ‘cause Cajsa blogged it and, yeah, it’s another beautiful gem created by the super talented monica Outlander:

SL Weekly Words Challenge: Crisp and Clean

Crisp and Clean.

Next Weeks Word(s):  Whimsical

The SL Weekly Words Challenge is a weekly blogger challenge where I pose a word and you take that word and depict it with an image. There is no right or wrong way to do this challenge. Pictures can have avatars or not, it’s about what that word means to you.

So feel free to participate. And there is no deadline, no rules, just something to inspire you besides “what shoes go with this?” which is why I created the challenge in the first place. Thanks to you who left me comments asking me to keep going. I needed a kick!

There is a FLICKR group too for funz.

Black Friday

nov24_013

I come from a town with only one store and I can list everything it sold. Eggs, bread, butter, burgers and fries, hot dogs and onion rings, 3.2 beer and soda, minnows and earthworms and that’s about it, other than renting canoes, boats and cabins. Needless to say, it didn’t have a Black Friday sale. The next town down the road had a gas station and a grocery store though only with the most basic fresh foods. For something so esoteric as, let’s say, broccoli, you would have to drive 50 miles or more. With that background, Black Friday never caught on. I guess that leaves me looking askance at those who wait in line for hours to shop. There’s nothing I want that much.

Beast

I’ve been shopping. I can’t help it. Sometimes I have to buy stuff. Horns + Winter Boots = Hooker Horned Beast. At least that’s what I’ve been calling this for the past few days that I’ve been going around like this. Yes, I’ve been dressed like this for three days. And going shopping. I can’t help it. SO ginger

New MIASNOW ginger skin!

I’ve loved MIASNOW skins ever since they came in the most shocking shades of green and blue and purple. Now they come in human flesh color, and I still love them. This one is called Ginger, and is especially made for redheads, it seems. Look at all those lush freckles! You can also get many sorts of lip colors on a tattoo layer. The rest of the body is similarly blessed with freckles! I’m wearing this new skin with a new set of jewelry from Lolapop, the Corvus cameo set. I’m a sucker for crows (my tattoo is ~silentsparrow’s~ Crowjane), and I really like how Lola made this! Her store is currently having a 32L sale (in honor of her birfday) throughout the weekend, too… [SLURL to MIASNOW] [SLURL to Lolapop!]

1969

nov23_003

Come back to 1969 tonight at The Velvet for this 10th in the 52 week Rock Per Annum weekly tour of rock music history. DJ Maht Wuyts will be spinning music from the year 1969 – the year that man walked on the moon and over 350,000 people gathered on a farm in Bethel, NY, for a seminal music event – Woodstock. This was a year of increasing protests against the Vietnam War as the first draft lottery since 1942 was held. It was the year of the Chicago 8 Trial and the Charles Manson murders. Richard Nixon became president and immediately threw away his pledge to end the Vietnam War. Operation Menu, the secret bombing of Cambodia was launched. Meanwhile, the Air Force declared there were no UFOs.

Fashion in 1969 was a little bit of everything. There were officially five skirt lengths that were all “in fashion” from the micro, the standard (formerly known as the mini), the kneesie (for dressing up), to the midi and the maxi. Jersey knits were popular and worning in clinging wrap dresses. Kilts were another fashion hit as were pattern mixing of plaids, stripes and dots. Ethnic bohemian fashion continued to be popular with gypsy tops and long print skirt and granny boots remaining a popular item. Another popular fashion trend that carried forward from 1968 was the Bonnie and Clyde look, thanks to the successful movie. This lead to a resurgence of interest in Art Deco – particularly in jewelry.
