Thursday Child Is Full of Woe

Girl Thursday is a newer to me store with an intriguing name. I’m wearing a holiday release of a festive cable knit tank top – perfect, cuz I live on the beach.

I am interested in the name, because I want to know what it means. Is it Girl Thursday because it’s not quite as good as Girl Friday?  (You youngsters can Google that shit.) Or is it as in, Thursday’s Child is Full of Woe? Continue reading

Hunts, Magic Shoes, And Reasons To Log In

This is a true story. I wanted an item at 22769. It was a hunt item. I couldn’t find it. It was one of my morning log in times, and usually I’ve got about 30 minutes to log in, dress, shoot, edit and post. I do this most days. I spent 20 minutes looking, got bitter, happened to find a different item, and left. I remembered that I hate hunts. I did however find this amazing dress, which I wasn’t looking for, for the Invitation Only Hunt? I don’t even know what that is.  But this dress is a total score. Continue reading

Hanging Around

dec12_002

I actually did have a hanging bed when I was growing up. My bedroom was U-shaped, a loft room curving around a staircase and overlooking the living room. That U-shape made getting furniture to the far side of the U very difficult. It was also very narrow and would have been difficult to sweep and clean under a regular bed. My dad has the bright idea of hanging it from the ceiling so there were no legs or any other obstructions to clean around. It was the best bed ever. He used regular swing set sized chain link rather than iron rods as is used in this bed.

Interestingly it didn’t really swing wildly as you might expect, but would basically rock an inch or two when I would shift in my sleep. It took real effort to make it swing more than 3 or 4 inches. However, I never had insomnia or sleepless nights. It was definitely the best bed ever. So of course, when floorplan. made a hanging bed, I absolutely had to have it. It makes me nostalgic.

Tree Trimming

My Christmas tree from LAQ Decor was a great find, Sasy recommended it when I was casting about for something new.  I haven’t been feeling well so comfy clothes from Somnia were perfect for my rainy night in.

Feeling crummy and wanting to do all the things is frustrating. Add to that gloomy weather, and a general malaise and decorating my tree was the most cheery thing I could think of to do. Continue reading

Busy Pixel Life

I had a busy morning and afternoon, but nothing some fuel couldn’t help me power through. I had to pay the rent and then run off to do some shopping. Pixel Food should just magically appear don’t you think?

Luckily I know a great meat market.

I picked up new heels from LaRoo at Shoetopia and they’re adorable. They’ve got an easy skin matching system, puts me in mine of how GOS does it with a database. The match for me was fast and easy.  The shoes were comfortable and cute for my daily shopping trip and perfect for entertaining. They dress up or down perfectly with their Mary Jane inspired styling. Continue reading

The Magical Land of Shoetopia

The Magical Land of Shoetopia opened today, and in it you’ll find the gauntlet of shoe needs for every kind of SL you might want to have.

I donned a pair of the new SLINK HIGH heels and set off to run through all two sims of amazing shoes .

I felt certain that these sleek and gorgeous shoes would carry me through the event with ease. After all, they make me feel so girly and cute, how could it go wrong? Continue reading

Studio Time:It’s a Cinch at Collabor88

It’s never a question that I will blog items from Collabor88, but for me the question is who to blog FIRST. There is such a consistent level of quality at the creators of Collabor88 that it has become painstaking to figure out which box I will open and like first.

That’s a cherished thing for an event, I would never lie and say I love everything I see. But the things that I love tend to be really well done.

So we’ll start this month with The SECRET STORE. Maylee Oh again hits one out of the park with a cinched high waist dress that leans toward a corset cut, juxtaposed with a Peter Pan collar. Sexy but demure. The name, Jezibell, leans toward the vintage cinched waist’s hint at corset pulling, but definitely keeps it PG with a delicately gathered bodice in rich deep tones. The skirt is textured with broad but faint stripes and shaded to indicate the fabric stretched over your curves. Continue reading

The Phone Rings At 7 Am…

I had this blog post planned. A couple of Arcade items, an item from Acid Lily, some Collabor88 – a well rounded event post. I’d shot it over a couple of days, dorking around with lighting, realizing after ten shots I was on medium resolution (this explained a lot).

Then my real life phone rang.  The cellphone in my pocket rang – and I looked at it with dread. No one calls you with good news at 7am. No one. It was Cajsa and I knew why she was calling.

You probably know it too, our friend Giulia, SL’s Squinternet Larnia had died. Cajsa was calling me to let me know, so that I didn’t read it on the internet that a friend had died. Continue reading

So Why DO You Blog, Anyway?

I can answer that question in many parts. First of all, it’s a hobby that ties in with two things I’m fond of, Second Life and fashion. It’s an activity in collaboration with my best friend, Cajsa, and with good friends I’ve made along the way like Hybie, Till, Acha and the rest of the team.

It’s also an ego boost. Anyone who says that they don’t get high when they’re invited to blog an event, receive a review copy or simply get a compliment, we’ll, they’re lying to you. I’ve been doing this for over five years, and I can tell you – I dance just as hard and happily when any of those things happens as I did the first time it happened. My first review copy was the LUCY Skin from LAQ. I remember that moment like it was yesterday.

I think, as I watch folks post their daily posts, I am missing your passion – the piece of your blog posts that are YOU. Where did you go? Are you just bogging XYZ because everyone else is doing it an you don’t want to be left out? WHY?  Continue reading

Clef de Peau

Cajsa had on a skin the other day that took my breath away, and with over 5 years at this blogging hobby, that’s not an easy task. It was pretty understandable, when I found out that it was created by none other than Marcopol Oh, the amazing photographer whose keen eye for beauty has astounded folks on FLICKR for some time.

The skin has so many options for customization it boggles the mind. Makeups, beauty marks, lashes, freckles, cleavage, plus the requisite SLINK huds (good job new skinner).

This is default lighting on my platform so you can see the skin in regular light.

I can’t wait to dig into this box and try more options.

Those of you who are always looking for a new look that isn’t “the same”, this one is for you.  Cajsa blogged everything and then some previously. As you can see, even between she and I this skin has a very different look.
