Snuggling My Chonk

I planned to get out and hit some sales today but you see, I’ve got this old chonky boy who wasn’t having it. He wanted all the snuggles even though I was ready to roll, and how could I resist. My original pair of KittyCats are over 4000 days old and I always have them out in my home, it’s truly what makes my linden house my HOME.

Do you have something that makes your home feel like your own special place? What is it?

Feels Like Fall

I have to confess I’m an addict for fall. While the heat in the RL stays in the 90s my SL turns into a pumpkin colored wonderland at the first hint of autumn. The SALEM event kicked off and that has to mean it’s fall doesn’t it? I’m positive it means that. I’m sporting new lips and eye BLACK MAGIC makeup from ALASKA METRO that you can pick up at SALEM.

I’m doing a bit of urban shopping today in a sharp suit from Baiastice and my favorite HAT HAIR from Hair Fair this year. Every year I declare a BEST HAT HAIR at Hair Fair and honestly – THIS IS IT FOR ME. SO CUTE. Perfect for the breezy city streets while I look for the next bargain! Continue reading

Halloween Steps Lightly Onto the Grid

It says a lot about a creator when they’re your Go TO for an item. With an inventory pushing 134k I’ve got a lot of “jeans”. Ok a lot of them are system jeans and I need to let that shit go. BUT, BLUEBERRY is always my “Damn I need jeans” go to. This is probably because she makes for all the bodies and I am always in Belleza when I need Maitreya or Maitreya when I need SLINK and not having to rearrange my entire ensemble for the day is a WIN.

I love you Blueberry. You stay cool. Continue reading

The Arcade closes at midnight, do you know where your gacha is?

“ that fragrance which fills the soul with optimism and faith, the fragrance of the crushed beans beneath the jet of boiling water curving from the kettle, the smell of coffee.”

“…that fragrance which fills the soul with optimism and faith, the fragrance of the crushed beans beneath the jet of boiling water curving from the kettle, the smell of coffee.”

In Halldor Laxness’ extraordinary book Independent People, there are well over 150 references to coffee, most of them reverent. That is as it should be. Laxness was Icelandic and they are among the world’s greatest coffee consumers–along with all the other Scandinavians.

Although Swedish-American, I am closer to real Swedes in my coffee consumption. When I was a kid, I put coffee in my milk, sometimes now I will put milk in my coffee when I get a latte, but usually drink it black. There is no perfume in the world quite so warm and evocative as the smell of coffee.

So I was thrilled by the coffee shops at The Arcade. I took some pictures outside the other day, but today I am shooting inside where I combined elements from the RH Designs Coffee House and the PLAAKA Coffee Factory.  The building is from PLAAKA’s coffee factory. I just fell in love with the look of the crumbling old factory being repurposed to serve coffee. The broken down wall and patio appeals to my love of things old and worn.

Enter The Succulents

I’m missing some sort of female knowledge base, wherein information about plants is kept. I always feel like I’m supposed to know wtf some plant is, and really my knowledge base is limited to roses, daisies, dandelions and possibly tulips if they aren’t strangely flowered.

So when I got to rezz these succulents from MISH MISH my brain said SO THAT’S WHAT THOSE ARE! I’ve heard this term forever, I had no idea. Also, I’ve seen this plant a million times and had no idea what it was. Continue reading

It’s Written In The Stars

This gorgeous jacket and long skirt from Baiastice is still available at COLLABOR88 this month and I think both pieces are a must have. You can’t see the shoes she also put out for this round because for reasons I can’t divine I cropped them out, but they’re very kicky. I like’m. Continue reading

Such a Nasty Woman

Such a Nasty Woman

It is Election Day at long last. Elections in America are far too long and of course, the campaigns in the commentariat are even longer. After all, there’s already speculation and talk about 2020 before 2016 is decided, because the media would rather talk horse races than policy.

This is the first truly existential election since 1860. People who complain that the election is not about issues this year are wrong. It’s just that the issues on the ballot are not the issues we are used to voting on—whether we are a free country or an authoritarian one, whether the United States controls it foreign policy or follows the dictates of a former KGB agent, and whether we want to continue as a democratic republic or are ready to just give it all up and hand it over to a despot. Thwse are the issues of this election and they could not be more important.

I am wearing suffragette white even though I voted two weeks ago. I am excited to be electing the first woman president. I wish the election were about her policies in competition with his, but it is not. This is not an election about marginal tax rates, health care policy and higher education funding. It is not about traditional issues. It is about our humanity.

Such a Nasty Woman

I am wearing a delightful white leather jacket from Pixicat for Collabor88 over a fun sports bra and pants from Azuchi. The Pixicat Night Jacket has a hud to allow color changes. It can be bi-color as well. I love the details on the pants. On a side note, I have been reading The Best Nature and Science Writing of 2016 and it included a great article from Racked on the science and engineering in developing sports bras. You should check it out, “Why Are Sports Bras So Terrible?” Fortunately in Second Life® if the sports bra fails to provide enough support we can just adjust the physics layer. If only it were so in real life.

A-Frame Life

One could do worse than be a swinger of birches.

Growing up on a resort lake with twenty-one year round residents, but thousands of weekenders who flood the lake and live in the more the hundreds of lakefront cabins that are empty most of the year, I am very familiar with A-frames. Lots of people bought A-Frame kits or pre-made A-Frames, much faster than the old-fashioned bungalow style cabins that signal older homes on the lake. This A-Frame from Barnesworth Anubis has an advantage over many of the lake front cabins as the ceiling rests on a short bit of vertical wall. The A-frames on the lake often did not have that bonus, which often meant a lot of space behind the couch when it was shoved against the wall and sometimes a clunk on your head. A-frame weekenders almost never came for winter ice-fishing, their cabins hard to heat with what heat they had rising to the ceiling and escaping from the lakefront windows. But they sure are pretty when you’re out in the canoe late at night, all the light from their wall of windows facing the lake, so bright and illuminated in contrast to the smaller windows on the bungalows. Kind of like big jewels in a necklace of smaller stones.

One could do worse than be a swinger of birches.

A-frame homes are very open plan. After all, walls interfere with the loft of those high ceilings. Here a rug and the Scarlet Creative Venice couch back serve to mark space for dining from space for lounging.  Lots of plants along the windows are a requirement when you have that kind of window exposure. Otherwise, you would be wasting the sunshine, wouldn’t you?

Brevity is the soul of lingerie

Brevity is the soul of lingerie.

Dorothy Parker always knew exactly what to say and her wit sparkled. I love her quip about lingerie even more than I love this lingerie which is quite a lot.

Brevity is the soul of lingerie.

It’s covered up by the sheer Reva cover-up from Zaara, though bits peek through. Just keeping the front page SFW. This was released at June’s Collabor88 so will be at the store now. The fairy lights are from Floorplan and can be found at Collabor88 for three more days.
