A Sea of Sirens Tears

Helena Stringer - IOF - Love Donna Flora - 3

When I first heard and then read about the Donna Flora event, I cried, I really did. I don’t do it often, but it really hit me. I cried a little again, when I realized I missed the cutoff date for applications for designers.

So I shopped instead.

Helena Stringer - IOF - Love Donna Flora - 5

I have never had the opportunity to talk with Squinternet. I’d sometimes see her setting up vendors in the shop, or out and about at events. I do however know her store line personally, as I have acquired many pieces from it over the years.

Some of you may know me, or of me, some of you may not, but one thing that can be universally seen in many of my posts is my love of colour. I also love period and retro styles. Donna Flora was one of those places I could go, get a Purple/Orange/Red patterned dress, grab gold, like real looking gold jewelry(so hard to find) and come out not looking like a clashy mess.

Shark Bait

Helena Stringer - IOF - Shark Bait

I was going to do this super complicated post with this dress, as I really loved the colours. I figured I could do all sorts of things. I can make a magical half dragon, half human princess who hoards jewels.

I went off and did my daily things, shopped a wee bit, got so many compliments on this simple styling, that I said, hey, why not just blog it this way, people seem to think it works. What probably threw me off was the normality of it.

If ever I do become a magical dragon/human half-breed jewel hoarding princess, I will let you know.

Something Supernatural

Helena Stringer - IOF - Supernatural - The Gang
One night on plurk I saw a post asking if anyone would like to do some crossdressing Supernatural cosplay, and I said sure why not. That is how I became Rufus, a wily grump haunted by his own horrid hunter’s past.

I choose this shot out of many simply because it was a different view than what some of the others took.

The RoboBambie Challenge – Do YOU Have What It Takes?

First……..the CHALLENGE.

Ok bloganistas…..I’m issuing you a challenge to get the hell out of your box and blog something that absolutely falls under the category of NON-TRADITIONAL BEAUTY. I totally want to see some of you blog ROBOBAMBIE by THE STRINGER MAUSOLEUM which you can find at the HAIR FAIR.

This is my #1 Favorite hair from the Fair and I’ll tell you why in a minute.

But first, I think that I want to lay out my rules for my challenge. THERE ARE NO RULES. I just want to see everyone wearing this hair. I want NOTHING BUT THIS HAIR ON THE FEEDS 24/7………ok ok ok maybe not. That’s a lot of robot hair. But I’m kinda dying to see what other people would do with it.

Me? I made a dress out of it.

Why?

Well that’s a funny story…..it goes like this. Continue reading

Filling Our Blood Spattered Demon Deficit:Guest Stylist Mae Tabak

posted by Gidge Uriza

I met this plurker and grid resident at my husband Silo’s rezz day party where she shot lizards out of her vajayjay.

I knew that wasn’t the last I’d seen of her.

Mae told me she was going to be a demon and wanted to shoot something incongruent with her demon. I thought the Sanrio-esque pastel background was festive and about as anti-demon as I had on hand.

Well, I didn’t look to see if I had anything with a puppy. But she might’ve eaten the puppy anyhow. Continue reading

Content Theft PSA – Keep Hope Alive

The Clara Bow Dress from Rebel Hope Designs

The Clara Bow Dress from Rebel Hope Designs

It was great seeing so many of you standing up against content theft with posts featuring some Rebel Hope Designs. It’s exciting to learn that Linden Lab acted quickly and effectively and have excluded the stolen content from SL. What that means is that when people who have the stolen content try to rez it, they cannot and they get a message the content is blacklisted.  You can read Rebel Hope’s statement on the SL Forums. Nonetheless, the scale of this theft and the assumption on the part of the thief that nothing would happen (an assumption fed by past events) and the development of even more effective theft technology has content creators concerned. They have started a the Step Up campaign and there will be a special edition of Fabulous Fashion TV on Monday that I encourage all of you to watch. If, like me, you will be at work then, you can watch it later on Itunes.   Please check the links and Angie Mornington’s blog for more info.

You Had Me At Skittlepop Princess

posted by Gidge Uriza

Helena Stringer of the Stringer Mausoleum clearly knew that while I MIGHT be able to pass up Skittles, that skittles + princess + purple hair would end up being irresistible to me.  It was a must buy for me the second I saw it a preview of it and frankly I had FORGOTTEN it though- until I ran into it at the Hair Fair.

WOOOHOOO…….Purple Hair with Candy in it. Color me delighted. Continue reading
