It’s Always Like This

The new lounge seat for outdoor relaxing at Collabor88 is from Second Spaces and I was excited to see it comes in a pink washed wood tone.  Obviously this one is my favorite.

Into the light is the theme this round, but I think it must be into the SUNLIGHT which is a good thing. Time to shed the winter.  Continue reading

Luxuriating

150507_006

I fell in love with the {anc} broken chair at Collabor88. In particular, I thought the animations and poses were extraordinarily well done. I took a lot of pictures of the poses and will post smaller pictures of them. I added some lovely lacey lingerie from Luxuria. I love how the lace is an abstract representation of roses. Luxuria’s lingerie comes with all the layers for clothing as well as appliers for Slink and Maitreya. This picture also shows off the lovely necklace from LaGyo.

The lighting is not photoshopped. I used the Dark Ambient windlight setting that comes with the standard Firestorm collection. The lighting comes from the Pilot candles and the half-deer curtains. I also used one self-made projector prim.

Waiting…anticipating

150507_004

I am uncommonly good at waiting. I do not know why; I do not have any particular fondness for delayed gratification. I would just as soon never have to wait at all. Nonetheless, I have so many ways to make the time pass that waiting does not bother me. I usually bring a book to read everywhere I go in case there are unanticipated delays. Sometimes there are delays long enough that I finish the book, but I still have distractions. I watch people going by and compose descriptions of them. I try to note all the details, the type of clothing, the fabrics and patters, the hair, makeup and accessories. You should try it sometime. It is an entertaining way to people watch. Sometimes, I get caught out staring, so I simply smile and say something like “I was admiring your scarf, is it silk?”

There are some fashion events coming soon and I have been waiting and waiting and waiting. One, Collabor88, opens in an hour. The other, Penumbra’s Spring/Summer Fashion Week opens on May 16th. While waiting for Collabor88 to open, I am taking a bath, listening to Art Pepper playing saxophone and hoping my candles do not set my curtains alight.

One of the highlights at Collabor88 already is this broken chair in the foreground. It is from {and} that contains several poses and animations. The quality of the animations and poses is amazing and you will see that in another post that I already shot but have not uploaded to Flickr yet. I figured I better wear some clothes when I am posing in the chair.

Rock me Gently

Helena Stringer - IOF - Rock me Gently - 1

I often get comments when I go out, that certain thing I wear seem “out of character”. I’m aware that over the years, I have set a certain persona for my avatar. There are many things that I enjoy in the fashion world, and sometimes these things don’t work with my more dark, supernatural, magical tastes.

That does not mean I choose to stay away from them. I often embrace them, and get a kick out of confusing people, haha.

I do have a love for historical fashion, as well as things considered retro. Genre this round is Rockabilly, mixing the love of the old with something a little bit playful and feisty.

Zippity Doo Dah

Sissy Pessoa of Baiastice has a gorgeous zip dress called Damie at Uber this month. It comes in 10 color combinations, all with gold zippers and a gold belt. She also has a coordinating clutch on sale at Uber, but I left it in the car while i took a walk on the beach. 🙂

I remembered LiValle’s gorgeous Classico zipper shoes and dug out a pair to wear with the dress. Zippers R Us.

The Hydrangea God Surveys His Minions

150502_003

From the bottom of the garden, enthroned in his earthenware pot,
the hydrangea god surveys his minions— Rosanna Warren (listen here)

Who does not love hydrangeas? They blossom with such abundance and generosity, their palette of colors at once delicate and wild. Oregon is awash in hydrangeas and their leaves are budding now. I thought I had seen every color of hydrangea until I saw this gown from Gizza with the black umbels of hydrangea. Now I know all about adding or subtracting aluminum phosphate to make soil more or less acidic or alkali to change hydrangea color, but how did they get black. I turned to Professor Google and learned they simply paint the umbels. However, the effort pays off with a gorgeous drape of hydrangeas for the neck and headpiece that accompany this gorgeous gown.

Serendipity shows her face again. These bracers from MiaMai for We <3 Role Play were in the same grouping of notices waiting for me when I logged in. They were sent with a few hours of each other. Now some might thing they are rough-hewn in contrast to the delicacy of the dress, but contrasts between hard and soft can be exciting and the silver petals on the braces are reminiscent of the hydrangea petals.

Pretty In Punk

150501_001

There are a few more shopping days left of the Pretty In Punk round of Collabor88 and you won’t want to miss it. Look at this gorgeous dress from ISON for this round. It comes in several solid colors and well as two plaids and these gorgeous stripes. I love ISON’s contemporary style, minimalist and fashion forward with just a few details that reflect the designer’s discipline. You will never hear Nina say “it’s over-designed” about anything from ISON because the designer in control.

Void Fill

PXL Creations has released a new skin with a new tone for Fantasy Faire complete with tattoos for your face if you want to embrace your animal huntress side. I’m hunting lately but it’s not an animal.

I’m hunting for something lost. I don’t know what it is, but I decided Omega Point was as good of a place to find it as anywhere. Continue reading

Fantasy Faire 2015 – Light Weaver

Fantasy Faire 2015 - Helena Stringer - Light Weaver - 1

Protector of magic,
Weaver of light,
guide us through the unyielding night.

Fly up high,
If you dare,
Shadows encroach and you must beware.

Forces unknown,
Wish to fight,
To hammer down those who shine bright.

Fear not,
One so fair,
I am here to heed your prayer.

A poem by Helena Stringer

Fantasy Faire is only here for a short period of time, and while many of us wish it wasn’t so, and we could have the sims for a whole month, or more, it is not to be.
