Beige Patent Pumps Just Like Kate

I heard a radio show shortly before the Royal Wedding, talking about beige patent pumps. Beige patent pumps are apparently everything. Kate Middleton had been seeing wearing them at appearances, suddenly you had to have them. The morning shopping guide on the radio show (because this is now a thing apparently) went through and told us what brand Kate was wearing and since we obviously can’t afford those (commoners) told us where to get them priced in our (commoner) price range.

Luckily for us pixel girls, LVLE has come out with a gorgeous pair of beige pumps that fit the bill with gorgeous texturing that subtly shines.  We might not get to marry a prince, but we’ve got cute shoes so really, that’s probably good enough.

Pixel princes are a dime a dozen anyway, girls. Continue reading

Glam-O-Ween

Vogue_006

Halloween is such a fun holiday. We get to play dress-up and be a kid again. Of course we all have our favorite way of dressing up for the holiday – and for me, it’s glam, of course. The perfect Glam-O-Ween dress is from VoguE – where Halloween has resulted in three special outfits and 2 Halloween hats, one with a skeletal hand and this spider web hat.

Growing up in state where mosquitoes can gather so thickly they look like a smudge cloud on the horizon, I am fond of spiders and their hard and constant mosquito-eating efforts. There’s nothing quite so beautiful as a spider web damp with morning dew when struck by sunlight. So yes, a spider-web dress is going to be gorgeous and this one from VoguE is a stunner.

New To Me

OZI_006

Another designer from AVENUE Fall/Winter Fashion Week who was new to me is Ngozi Faith of OZI. She presented a small mini-collection that featured black and white pieces of deceptive simplicity. Her aesthetic is distinctly minimalist, but with a passion for deconstructing. Take this Origami crop top in black. It’s a simple tee with segmented sleeves that make it so much more interesting, but in a simple, clean way – without embellishment. In fact, she achieves by taking away, what most achieve by adding. A neat trick. I have already styled this top in three different outfits – over a lace bodysuit, with a leather pencil skirt and with the eye-catching Curve skirt that she presented it with at Fashion Week.

Autumn is Coat Time

oct02_002

I had to wear this coat from NYU – it goes so well with the skirt and top I wore in my last post. It features a Peter Pan collar – so very chic and fun.

Plurk has too many good ideas.

Oct01_001

I was tired, cranky and out of sorts, trying to think of a good title for this blog post, I shared this photo on plurk asking for ideas for a post title. They were no help at all, not because they didn’t help, but but because they helped too well.

Really, how can I choose between Sophee Mojo’s elegant and oh-so-autumnal suggestion of the title “Nothing Gold Can Stay” from Robert Frost’s lovely poem.

Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf,
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day
Nothing gold can stay.

Robert Frost

But then there’s Tymmerie Thorne reminder of the commercial we have all seen again and again, “Help, I’ve fallen and I can’t get up.”

or Frequency Picnic’s suggestion of the immortal line from McBain in The Critic:

And that’s not all. What to do? What to do?

LOTD – September 1 2013

My look today is brought to you by Indyra and features one of the newest releases, Madrigal.

Indrya - Madrigal 1

I have been pleasantly surprised by Indyra lately. In the past, the products were out of my price range, but since her venture into the mesh world of fashion the outfits have been moving more into my idea of a value purchase. When I can purchase ALL colors of an outfit, for what I used to pay for one dress… well, I’ll do that ANYDAY!

LOTD – August 25, 2013

I’ve been doing too much shopping and not enough blogging. So this lazy Sunday morning, I thought I’d throw together a quick LOTD with some of my newest purchases.

When Miel is on the $50 L friday list – its the FIRST place I head and this last week was no disappointment.

So who at The Liaison Collaborative works for the CIA?

aug23m

Seriously, does anyone really think it is pure coincidence that the CIA confirmed the existence of Area 51 when The Garden opened up its Area 51 showcase? Besides, doesn’t the name Liaison Collaborative sounds like a cover organization for a covert mission? Covert operative liaise while the rest of us hang out. I wonder who it is? Please share all your random and reckless speculation.

So, Gidge wanted to run with the Area 51 idea and I worked with her to make a projector box. She made 11 poses. Her pose selection menu is a prose poem, an ode to sci-fi. The projector has three textures. All of these shots are done in the chrome texture, the differences in lighting come from the windlight.

Saturated

aug20_004

I love the rich, saturated colors of Aux’ Studded Cocktail Dress for Collabor88. I had the hardest time choosing which one to wear because they were all like jewels in an imperial treasury. What finally helped me decide was finding which of the Baistice Winter Leggings with Spikes I liked best with a dress. Those studs in the color called out for more metal and that’s the way I went.

Aglow

jul25_002

So Love Donna Flora is now open. Frankly there is so many wonderful things I am overwhelmed trying do decide what to buy myself. This dress from Ghee for Love Donna Flora was an easy choice for me, though, being my favorite color. Also, Ghee is a new-to-me store and that is always fun. The dress is alive, can you see the sparkles?

I am showing you the back so you can see that it enhanced with a big bow that drapes down the skirt. And look at it sparkle!
