1965 was a strange year in fashion with the advent of bell-bottoms and granny dresses, one-shouldered sari dresses and metallic catsuits, flowing paisleys and the Mondrian dress. It was also the year of Edie Sedgwick, declared the “It Girl” by Vogue. Sedgwick was a fashion original with a free and rebellious style. She wore tights with nearly everything and added huge chandelier earrings, heavy eyeliner and a casual short moptop cut. She has an ease and freedom to her that made her captivating in photos. How perfect, then, is this Sedgwick dress from Ingenue for Collabor88.

It's Not That Easy

It’s Not Easy Being Green
It seems you blend in with so many other ordinary things
And people tend to pass you over
cause you’re not standing out
Like flashy sparkles in the water
Or stars in the sky

But green is the color of spring
and green can be cool and friendly like
and green can be big like a mountain
or important like a river
or tall like a tree

This song made me think of creators who truly make nice, very well made items that might not be THE BIG GUNS you see releasing news at Modavia. They’ve got talent, they’ve got verve but they’re not the big fashion houses we’ve spent the past week drooling over.

Regardless, there are some brands that release fun and pretty pieces that are just as NOT TO BE MISSED as anything else. The precious dress from SOMNIA is a great example. Released in MYRIAD colors and on basically EVERY LAYER POSSIBLE (good god Sanura when do you SLEEP)  this is a great example that there are gems laying about.

You just have to get out and go shopping. 🙂

It’s a quickie today while I’m a busy bee in the RL. But did you know that Cool Beans released HAIR? It’s a sweet little do and you know, it came in pink so I was ALL about that.

Ingenue has released the Sedgewick dress which reminds me of Hedgewick and I can’t recall who Hedgewick is. This release is for the Collabor88 event which is either a weekly sale or a monthly sale or a one time event.

I can’t keep them all straight anymore.

Regardless, it’s from Ingenue and that = CUTE regardless.

Why do I have a condom in my mouth? I don’t know. Why do half the people with stuff stuck in their mouths on the grid have stuff stuck in their mouths? I spent my Monday sitting around hatching kittens. I had a few but this is the only one that I kept. I’m slowly turning into the crazy cat lady of SL because once I name them then I am hesitant to send them off to the Menagerie. (This is kitty cat heaven although someone on my plurk line says that Callie Cline has a big KITTY OVEN and that this is where they go.)

This is the only kitten that made the cut, named Diamante after the hilarious fake diamonds from 80s infomercials. My grandma once told me all about these new diamonds that were so cheap. OH YES Grandma. Diamante for EVERYONE (PS they were glass.) Continue reading →
