Early AM Studio Time

FAMESHED has another great round in store for you, and this gorgeous gown from Baiastice is beautiful. I love the washed out watercolor looks of the texture where it pools on the floor. Darkley posted a different color on her blog and styled it differently.  You can see it’s amazing whether worn very minimally styled or with accoutrements.  My computer is trying to spell accoutrements incorrectly. It’s driving me nuts. It keeps underlining it in red, and then I check it with a dictionary, no I’m right. What cretin set the spell check on this machine?

But I digress. Continue reading

Early AM At Flo’s Trailer Park Jamboree

Everyone else is still snoring in their campers but I’m up early because there is so much going on! Hair Fair still goes until tomorrow and I’ve forgotten to go pick up the dollarbie Kavar from EXILE put out. It’s sort of a silly rainbow hair and I have to have it.

There is still time to pick up this gorgeous ‘do from Wasabi Pills also, in fact Hair Fair several years ago was where I first became acquainted with Wasabi Pills. I fell in love then and have been delighted as time has pass at what an amazing and versatile creator she’s become.  Who will you fall in love with at the Hair Fair this year? Continue reading

Working On My Tan Lines

I got it into my head to work on my tan lines, so I took my new tapeman from SOY that I picked up at the KUSTOM9 event and headed out in a new to me bikini from BAIASTICE. But I have to confess, I like the idea of laying out in the sun more than actually doing it.  So after a short time in said pixel sun, I retreated under my new beach tent from ALOUETTE. I get to enjoy the water and the beautiful day, plus my tunes, and I’m not burning alive. WIN. Continue reading

Safari Style

0713_004

This month’s theme for Collabor88 is Safari and Baiastice’s offerings are stylishly on point – taking inspiration from African fabrics and textures and colors but making something new  with it. Her skirts and tops are irresistible and should be kept as great mix and match pieces.  The top in particular will be a great one for layering as it skims close to the body.

After a Long Day At HAIR FAIR

My long night running the gauntlet of Hair Fair, in and out of every shop, buying, making plans to buy later, demoing, trying to look pretty, all of these things created an intense desire to find a mellow spot to relax and take in my spoils.

CHEEKY PEA has created a perfect summer spot for summer repose with the WHITBY set. You can pick it up at the Season’s Story event, and it’s a great spot to relax or hang out with friends. Delicious beverages are also available. Continue reading

Second Life Synchronicity or Ballaké

jul01_002

Second Life fashion is full of moments of synchronicity and this is one. It all started with the dress from Baiastice. It was released in many solid colors and prints, but I was most drawn to this earth-toned batik. I was fidgeting about, trying to choose hair and MiaMai released some gorgeous turbans with an Afro-centric inspiration and this tobacco version is perfect with the dress. Meanwhile, Kunglers released a necklace in a coffee color and of course, coffee and tobacco are the peanut butter and jelly of louche lotus-eaters. And then, if that were not enough, PXL Creations released a Jazz quartet of skins for Rhapsody. All events have no causal bearing on each other, but they are uncannily in synchronicity.

The combination of pieces made me think of Ballaké, a classic of African Jazz by Bembeya Jazz National— after all, Jazz developed in America from African roots and American music traditions. Then it migrated back to Africa and found a new iteration. These pieces draw their inspirations from Indonesia and Africa but are modified and changed in translation just as the music was. Here I Sit Broken Hearted

Ok no I am not finishing that little poem.

I do have a magical boat that lets me levitate, however. I’m fairly impressed by that. You should be too. Well, in fact, I’d adjusted my sit to show my shoes better then rethought that and forgot to adjust back. I figure, if I acknowledge it, then I no one can sweat me for it.  I always sort of wonder if people know they are floating, or that objects around them are floating when I see this. Time is the mind killer, we spend so much time doing this and that it’s easy to miss a little thing like levitation, amirite? Continue reading

When you dream

0601_001
One of the joys of Second Life is allowing us to inhabit parallel lives, the lives we dreamed in our youth. Like many of you, I dreamed of all sorts of “when I grow up” scenarios. Mostly I said I wanted to be an archeologist when I grew up, but there were times when I declared my intent for president, supreme court justice, artist and dancer. Of course, I did grow up to inhabit none of these dreams, finding instead my adult dream as a political activist. I am happy with my adult dreams and only feel a faint nostalgic wistfulness for my childhood dreams. How fun it is, though, to live those dreams as an avatar. This season’s offerings from The Arcade are really the stuff dreams are made of.
