June 27th, 2021 – Walk on the beach

Today, I went for a walk and ended up on the beach. The sand was warm and the weather was nice, albeit a bit windy. I also met a beautiful crane that didn’t seem to mind me.

Prints and Colors

Cinderella is proof that a new pair of shoes can change your life

Don’t Mix Prints! That was once the conventional rule of fashion, but again and again, people have flouted the rule with great success. It’s tricky and can look atrocious, but folks who can mix prints well are among the most exciting fashion designers and icons. Gia Seorn of Gizza knows how to mix prints. The collection of five Tracy Strapless dresses recently released by Gizza is a masterclass in mixing prints.

Cinderella is proof that a new pair of shoes can change your life

Thalia Heckroth™ released a fun new jacket that I added to dress. I love sleeves, so often add a jacket over strapless tops and dresses. The details are perfect and happily fits comfortably over a dress. My pet peeve with mesh jackets is that they too often can only be worn with applied textures or with a set piece made just for that particular jacket. I love to find jackets that I can wear with other brands.

Oh Yes!

Fashion is what you're offered four times a year by designers. And #style is what you choose - Lauren Hutton

There is so much to enjoy at Collabor88, but I have to admit that Emery is always one of my faves. I just know the quality will be peerless and the separates will work perfectly together as this jacket and dress does.

Hair Fair Designers — Alice Demonia

I wore my first Alice Project hair three years ago this month. Alice Project holds a special place in my heart for scaring me the first time I put on an all white hair that I applied a texture to. I am certain there was an involuntary squeak or two before I realized I had not broken it and just had to add the hud and click. We are friends on Plurk and I don’t think I will be telling any deep, dark secrets if I tell you she has a wicked, sardonic sense of humor. And as you can see from her favorite photo, “Nobody parties like Alice Demonia.”

Hair Fair may be closed, but you will be able to find these styles in the stores. I have some remaining profiles to do, so on we go.

It’s Only Fashion: What’s the craziest thing you ever did in Second Life? Most exciting? Silliest? Is there a story you can share that captures your Second Life experience?

Alice Demonia: My Second Life has been pretty boring, I think, hahah. When I first started, I did the standard exploring and trolling and laughing at various sex related sims. That’s probably the most excitement I’ve had. Nowadays, I’m notorious for AFKing at my friends’ platforms or sims for days. I tend to just sort of set up wherever I am, if they’re open to that. The Flickr photo I’ve included is the product of one day where I logged in at a friend’s and everyone just decided to start throwing down things around me, lol. Continue reading

Snow Falls Softly

Untitled

For whatever reason, the chronic pain that I am usually habituated to has decided to make itself front and center this week. I swear it’s using bullhorns and neon signs to make sure I can’t ignore it. Even my fingers ache, so I won’t write about the outfit other than to tell you that what you see is what you get. There is not even the tiniest bit of editing since I cannot save pictures to disk now and have to upload them directly to Flickr.

Bedazzled or Shoe Glue Is Magical

141116_004

When long-time model Fuzz Lennie told me she had begun designing for Zanze and had just produced her first dress, I had to see it. She has a great sense of style and exquisite focus on detail and I was eager to see what she was going to make. All I can say, is wow! if this is her first, I cannot wait for her second. This dress spoke to me on another level though, reminding me of one of my favorite gifts I gave for Christmas.

It was several years ago, back when I had my very first job in political organizing – working for the mission more than the money. My “discretionary income” was close to nil and in choosing between getting the NY Times of a telephone, I opted for the Times and walked two blocks to a convenience store for phone calls. So Christmas would have to be frugal and I would have to make gifts. Well, I grew up on frugal Christmases with homemade gifts, so that was no problem.

Would you update your viewer in the middle of a photo shoot?

141024 Raw from SL

Normally my answer would be “Hell to the No” but when I was shooting these pictures today, I figured it could not possible get worse and might get better. So when I saw there was a new update, I went for it. I have not been able to save a photo to disk since Monday and was saving raw shots directly from the SL viewer to Flickr. The photos for this post are raw, unedited pictures. They have not even been cropped. I know Flickr has a photo editor, but I don’t like it. Still, it turns out fine. I just like to play with a few little touch ups now and then. I am wearing a fun and adorable sailor sweater and flared skirt from MotiAme that I found at Kustom9 when I dropped by to throw money at Apple Fall, as one does. The sweater comes in gray, brown, blue, black, red and white. The skirt is in black, white and blue. They fit together well and have a lovely early fall feeling – for those days with brisk breezes, a bit of mist in the air and moments of sunshine. October in Oregon.

Working On My Tan Lines

I got it into my head to work on my tan lines, so I took my new tapeman from SOY that I picked up at the KUSTOM9 event and headed out in a new to me bikini from BAIASTICE. But I have to confess, I like the idea of laying out in the sun more than actually doing it.  So after a short time in said pixel sun, I retreated under my new beach tent from ALOUETTE. I get to enjoy the water and the beautiful day, plus my tunes, and I’m not burning alive. WIN. Continue reading
