The Bluebell is the sweetest flower
That waves in summer air :
Its blossoms have the mightiest power
To soothe my spirit’s care.

Azul Linda for Culture Shock
My favorite of the three offerings from Azul for Culture Shock is this gorgeous brown and gold floral print. It’s a slinky, body-hugging mermaid style dress that is elegant and formal, but with an easy style that is very contemporary.
Azul at Culture Shock
I was a little worried how my curvier shape would handle this sleek gown from Azul.
I think I handled it JUST FINE.
Culture Shock is open and this is one of the amazing pieces you can add to your never ending pixel closet.
You probably need this.

Drama
I love fashion drama – when it’s the drama of bold colors, flowing fabrics and the sheen of heavy charmeuse. Mami Jewell is one of the most dramatic creators with her rich formal gowns that explode with drama.
There’s enough drama in this skirt to fuel a daytime soap opera.

Emerald Green Squared
It’s certainly not original to wear an emerald green dress like Jeanie from Azul at the Emerald Green sim, but I had to do it anyway. The dress is stunning with layers of soft, sheer and ethereal panels that give flirtatious glimpses of the legs. Boldly bedazzled with silver roses, it is a stand-out-in-the-crows sort of dress. I shot it on the forest floor, a beautiful setting.
Beyond Black and White
One of the pleasures of Fashion For Life has been seeing how creators have responded to the theme. Most obviously are the amazing greyscale builds that remind us all that black and white has a power all its own. Most wittily, SarahtheRed Aubierre of Vanitas Vesture focused on red, green and blue – the RGB color mixing that is literally beyond black and white. Some did not incorporate the theme into their clothing, guided by their own inspirations. Some, like Mami Jewell of Azul – adopted the theme fully and created black and white masterpieces. Canna Sombra is a powerful statement in black and white. You’ve seen the gown before in other colors, since Gidge and I did a shoot together. The dress is so stunningly beautiful we fell in love with its shape and flow. At FFL, you can find this lovely dress and help support cancer research at the same time.

Of Ball Gowns and Best Friends
As we head into a weekend of parties and swirly dresses I’m pulling out a set that was shot long before Cajsa got sick.
Over on my RL blog I talked yesterday about knowing who you are. (Words of wisdom via Keith Richards). The importance of that struck me as I was muddling through flickr sets trying to decide what to post today.
This picture above, well, that’s who Cajsa and I are.
At least, it’s one facet of the gem of our barbie girls. Continue reading
Cecilia
Cecilia, you’re breaking my heart
You’re shaking my confidence daily
Oh, Cecilia, I’m down on my knees
I’m begging you please to come home
The heartless Cecelia of Simon & Garfunkel’s lyrics could get away with running off with other men because she was so fascinating. If she were wearing the Cecilia gown from Azul, that would not hurt either. In this photo, I ran off to the Old Abbey at The Looking Glass – a gorgeous sim from Marcus Inkpen that is a delight to explore.

The Black Swan
Traveling on a space highway,
Three long years to this day.
A billion million trillion miles.
Home is a long, long way away.
From bow to stern she’s 20 miles long,
Ten miles high and wide.
A beautiful swan in a silent sea,
No water to slow her down.
Sometimes it seems we’re motionless,
Caught between time and space.
Other tiny star systems rush headlong by.
Signs are bursting in the rain

Lucky I Ran Into You
posted by Gidge Uriza
One of the final acts of my favorite Woody Allen movie – HANNAH AND HER SISTERS – is called LUCKY I RAN INTO YOU. It’s about two people who’ve known each other and fall in love despite the past. Making friends can be like that too.
I feel that way a lot about my best friend and blog partner, Cajsa. Continue reading
