Brownstones

0412_006

The Argrace hair, Crystal Line jewelry (with color change HUD) and the [k]rooms star can all be found at Japan Fair. I am so excited to see Argace doing a red hair color.

I did not get around to blogging Barnesworth Anubis’s fabulous 5th Avenue skybox when it was at Collabor88 last month, too sick to feel like moving from my old house. However, as soon as I razzed it, I knew I had to move into that gorgeous brownstone. It reminded me so much of my first apartment. In fact, it is almost identical, other than being much, much bigger, with 6 rooms instead of 4. But the big rooms with windows and glass doors are identical to the two big room in my old apartment, the big difference being that there was this small 8 foot space between the 2 big rooms and the bed room that was the bathroom/kitchen area. That house was built before refrigeration and the kitchen was 5 feet by 4 feet in size. Yes, space for a stove and a sink and an upright body. The cupboards and fridge were in the hallway! And what cupboard, they went from the top of the fridge to the 12 foot high ceiling. That meant I could stand underneath my kitchen cupboards and needed a tall ladder to reach the shelves. Yeah, good times!

The Barnesworth Anubis 5th Avenue skybox reminds me of my old apartment on St. Paul’s Grand Avenue – an avenue rich in history and full of wonderful brownstones.

This was our first apartment and my roommate and I had almost no furniture which lent itself to great parties since we never had to worry that something would get broken. We also had a closet that was about 4 feet wide and 28 feet long  (Yes, 28! It was like a cave and we needed a flashlight to see at the far end.) – long enough that when we had a party we could put every single breakable thing in storage. We would rent a keg and stick in a bed of ice in the tub and invite all the neighbors so no one would complain about the noise. We also invited the landlord, knowing he would not come under the assumption that if someone complained he would think – how bad could it be, they invited me? That was our strategy and it worked.

If I Raided My Closet

Raid Your Closet

Part of my problem is, I’ve been deleting a LOT of my older stuff lately trying to get a hold on the madness that is my inventory. But I rifled around and found something things that I slapped together. I am even keeping the rule that you must have owned everything since before the beginning of the month. YAY Me.  Check out the Raid Your Closet Challenge HERE.

The boots are new from Lassitude & Ennui for L’Accesoires (I probably spelled that wrong) but most of the other things are older than newer. (I got them in Sept so shut up) Continue reading

Look of the Day November 3rd

Snowpaw Fashions – one of my fellow IOF bloggers did a post on the cutest outfit yesterday and since I’d never been there I knew I HAD to run over there as soon as I logged on.  And wouldn’t you know it I found this!  I’m in a fall mood and this is just the outfit to slip into and take a lovely stroll around the Garden of Dreams.  A flowing skirt (my fave kind) and crop 3/4 sleeve top look just divine together.  I added this cute hair style that has the hat attached from Argrace and a chunky jewelry set from Dark Mouse to complete the look.  Take a minute and head over to Snowpaw Fashions, they have a fantastic selection at reasonable prices and quite a few lucky boards too!

Another Utopia

This outfit began with the pants from Lelutka that are the perfect mix of fashionable, funky and fun. I love them. They come in several prints and I want all of them but will have to content myself with a couple pair. In typical SL serendipity, I received a lovely fatpack of new tops from eha and their design with the loose, flowing layers is a perfect complement to the pants.

After I finished styling this outfit I knew I had to shoot it at Utopia02 – no energy – by Glyph Graves.  I will paste a short clip from the notecard you can request when you arrive there:

Entropy by Glyph Graves

This is a full sim installation that was created for the Shanghai Expo…There are four statues situated on hills at the source of the rivers. The rivers flow in to a central basin. There is a tree near the centre. Whispering into the tree will start the entropy in the system. The statues will melt/fragment change shape and texture. All the sculptures will freeze and change colour. The statue fragments will flow along the rivers to the central basin where the will assume a entropic pattern swirling. The butterflies near the tree will flutter to the ground. don’t forget to whisper again to restore the state…

Renegade

Adam n Eve like to do things a bit differently than most stores – and that’s true with their offerings for the RFL Clothing Fair. In addition to the more traditional Ruffles dress you saw the other day, they put out Renegade, a decidedly not the usual RFL pink or lavendar girly confection. featuring jeans and a hot bomber jacket (photo after the cut.) The jeans come with a cute red camo crop top, but I wanted something to tuck in. I picked up this gorgeous top at Apple May Designs at the fair instead and decided I just love it.

Unbelievably, it’s already the last day of the Clothing Fair. Many, though not all, items you have seen on the many blogs featuring RFL items are exclusive to the fair and won’t be available after midnight SLT. If that’s not enough reason to run-don’t walk to the fair right now, there are the magnificent builds that people spents weeks making.  It’s worth the lag, the crowds and everything just to see the wonderful builds.

Rainy Days Are A-Bomb

posted by Gidge Uriza

I shot this a few days ago, when it was still about 12 degrees in the Atlanta Metro.  At that time, I couldn’t fathom when I was going to be feeling rainy but here we are this morning with rain pouring down and it’s the perfect time to pull on a cableknit and these Wellies from A-Bomb.
