If you go out in the woods today

Sn@tch @ Vintage Fair

I can’t promise you would find a Teddy Bear’s Picnic, but the little bit of woods at Lettuce, home sim to Cafe Adrastea, does have the loveliest little glade of trees. A glade filled with flowers and light, though I could not resist adding a projector to give add some color to the light.

Sn@tch @ Vintage Fair

The June Party dress from Sn@tch is a floral explosion of color in itself. It’s got a very 50s silhouette with the figure hugging bodice, nipped waist and full skirt and is one of Sn@tch’s Vintage Fair creations. Ivey Deschanel made this lovely dress in six beautiful colors. The dress is made of system layers, sculpts and flexi. It’s one of the great things about Ivey and Sn@tch – the wisdom to choose the right technology for the dress. She makes excellent mesh, but knows that not every piece is best served with the latest technology.

Don’t You Mess with the Messer

Vintage Fair - Loovus Dzevaror

This stunning gown from Loovus Dzevavor for Vintage Fair is another of those gowns that I can imagine being worn by one of the great singers, singing songs of passion and power. Perhaps even that old, old blues wonder, Don’t Mess with the Messer

I’m gonna cross the crosser
I’m gonna cheat the cheater
I’m gonna use the user
and then beat the beater
You can’t mess with the messer
The messer gonna mess with you

Vintage Fair - Loovus Dzevaror

I have not had space to rez my old house from Y’s House in ages, but I do now so I have pulled it out of my inventory and decided to snap some pictures before I furnished.

BOOK CLUB!

I am a little excited cuz I joined an SL book club. It might sound silly but I never do stuff very much other than work, and the occasional party so to have a planned SL activity plus yay BOOKS, I was excited.

My friend Owly has been quoting from this book for days, and eventually I was so intrigued I had to ask about it and then next thing I knew I was reserving the book at the library and then I was making plans to attend. Continue reading

Bouncing Through Vintage Fair

Bounce - projector raw photos

Bounce has made a ton (a scientifically accurate standard of measurement) of these gorgeous summer dresses for Vintage Fair. They made me extra happy by making them with different textures that suit different moods instead of a rainbow of one texture. So there’s dressy, romantic, nostalgic, and basically a texture for every day of the week.

It Could Also Be A Couch

This might not sound like a compliment, unless you – as a small child, spent hours and hours in discount fabric stores in the 70s. They heavy, thick fabric texturing of this sundress from Aris Aris reminded me immediately of fabric that you could find on sale to cover your chair, or to make a skirt or a dress.  It’s made with natural looking creasing that only lends to it’s appearance as a thick woven fabric, heavier than a denim. Twelve Gowns in One

Vintage Fair - Cajsa Lilliehook

This gorgeous gown from LIV-Glam at Vintage Fair is a perfect dress for the jazz clubs of the past filled with smoke, gin, torch singers and taxi dancers. Made with a combination of mesh and flexi, it combines the best of both.

Vintage Fair - Cajsa Lilliehook

The deep, swooping back is a torch singer favorite – and adds so much drama. All the poses are from the Rouge (based on the red carpet) Set from oOo Studio for Vintage Fair.

Color Me Impressed

Can we take a moment to talk about colored jeans?

Color Me Impressed (01)

I love them!  I’m so excited that colored jeans have made a comeback in the real world.  I’m a child of the 80s who spent her youth decked-out in an array of colored pants (or everything, really), from neon to jewel tones.  I think that’s why I still love color so much today.

Luckily for me (and you!), there have been plenty of excellent colored jeans released in SL recently.

The Eighties Are Vintage, Too

aug08_002

Vintage is such a flexible word. When you watch the red carpet and a dress is described as vintage Versace or Galliano, it could be as little as two seasons old. In general, though, vintage means clothing that’s 25 years old or older which takes us back to 1987 – the year the Speedo became the most fashionable swimsuit and big, bold graphic shirts over leggings were ubiquitous. So were bright colors and lots of embellisment. This top from Loovus Dzevavor’s clothing label LD Major screamed 80s to me, so I dug out some leather leggings from Peqe and decided to get physical.

I Knew A Girl Named Milly

She was the walking incarnation of the karma wheel, was Milly. She did good things, good things happened. She did bad things, bad things happened. Yet just like the old witchcraft rules, her evil returned to her threefold (although who is doing that counting is always somewhat suspect to me).

Born in the coal mining hills of West Virginia, the 9th of 13 children, Milly was born into poverty. Her exhausted mother looked at the two nurses who had just come to the house to deliver her and asked “What are your names?”.  Sister Imelda and Sister Ann they were, and thus – Imelda Ann was named – called Milly. Save me from the nothing I’ve become…

“How can you see into my eyes like open doors..
leading you down into my core
where I’ve become so numb                                                                                                      without a soul my spirit sleeping somewhere cold                                                                    until you find it there and lead it back home”

I can certainly understand this. Wanting someone or something to bring you back to life….. Continue reading
