LeeZu Does It Again

LeeZu is more fashion forward and fashion adventurous than I am. I love to go to fashion shows featuring her clothes because there’s sure to be some extravagant and experimental forms and designs that are just a bit more wild and wonderful than my personal comfort level and that’s fine. I love to see it and marvel and know that there will also be equally extravangant and wild pieces that are at my comfort level. Her work spans such a range that you can always find something that’s “just right” like this lovely gown called Adriana.

Did I say gown? I should have said cocktail dress, I guess? Depending on how you wear it, LeeZu includes enough prim options to let you get it just right. The Sayuri pumps, by the way, are from HaysUriza.

Three Cheers For The Red White And Blue!

posted by Gidge Uriza

I know I know, I WORE you out last year with nothing but red, white and blue the week before July 4. I’m letting you OFF the hook this year with a minimal invasion of Patriotica.

But you didn’t think you’d get away Scot-free did you? I have to look up that phrase! Scott free, scott-free, scot-free – I have no idea. It’s probably some sort of slur even – but they’re my people so I feel free to dog them 🙂

BACK TO MY TOPIC! July 4….putting it to the British Empire – Continental Army style………….We The People…………..

Well, it’s like this. There has been more than a bit of brouhaha this year about the wearing of the flag and while I don’t mind wearing stars and stripes prints I don’t care for wearing ACTUAL flags (which, I note IS NOT THE SAME)……..regardless…….to avoid the drama I opted to salute Old Glory and this important day IN Red White and Blue colors.

The pants and top are from the beauties at AXEL and are a super pick up any time of year. They come in a variety of colors but these holiday colors are perfect, aren’t they?

But now, the finishing touch – the JEWELRY! YAY EarthStones has once again created beautiful July 4 Jewelry! Last year the jewelry was amazing and once again Abraxxa has created lovelies PLUS SHOES! Wheee! Continue reading

Golden Girl

Choosing something to wear while shooting a million hairstyles, I wanted a dress that would not interfere with the hair. No collars, ruffles or puffs – no prims, no sculpties. I wanted it to be relatively low cut as that tends to flatter most hair styles and really simple so it wouldn’t look odd with vastly different styles of hair. This dress pretty much fit the bill though it was a stretch for a few of the hats and fantasy hairs. It’s a lovely simple dress from Casa del Shai and really proved how flexible it is.

Hair Fair 2009: Fantasy Hair

My last collection of Hair Fair pictures highlights the most fantastical and imaginative hair you can find. I believe all of these were promotional copies though I may be mistaken.  Several of these hairs are highly scripted, allowing you to customize hair color, fabric  and metal colors, the colors of jewels, shells, and thingamabobs. The Crustacean hair from Tekeli-li totally cracks me up. It reminds me of the scene in Farscape where Crichton says “Cross my heart! Smack me dead! Stick a lobster on my head.”  Most striking, I believe is the scripting in the Curio Oscura Pocketwatch that lets you change the time zone.  The most daunting hair is the Rococo Fantastico that actually has three pairs of dancers waltzing in a ballroom in the middle of the pompadour – and scripting can change their clothing and the decor of the ballroom – along with everything else.  To see full-size pictures of these hairstyles, simply check out the set on Flickr.

Ribbons & Bows: The Ordnance of Princessery

This is the set of hair that has been embellished with attached crowns of flowers, ribbons, bows, barrettes and all the other “make me look like a princess” equipment. Hence the Ordance of Princessery.   We make up lots of words here at It’s Only Fashion. As before, you can find the full size photos of any of the hair you want to give a closer look at its own set on Flickr.  The skin in these photos are from PXL Creations – the new Kim line.

Hair Fair 2009: Hat Hair and Men's Hair

As before, you can see full size photos of any of these hairs at the Flickr set. All are from Hair Fair and most were promotional copies sent by designers, though I also bought some of them. I sorted them all into a Hair Fair folder instead of into a separate promotional folder, so I lost track of which is which. The skin for all of the photos is the newest from PXL Creations – Kim.

PIRANHA!

posted by Gidge Uriza

The Piranha pocket dress by Bliensen + Maitai is just one more eclectic offering from this very versatile creator.  First off the dress is practical with fun pockets for your smokes and what not 🙂

Second off…….it’s called PIRANHA! Does anyone remember that terrible terrible movie from the 70s called PIRANHA? OMG that freaking movie damaged me as a child, I couldn’t go nightswimming for YEARS because I was nervous.  Those things eat fast!

Luckily, this fun dress has no hidden dangers and is nothing but cute cute cute. It also comes in a black version and they are sold together.

The hair is from Fishy Strawberry – HUNTRESS. I’m all about the braids these days.

It’s a shorty tonight girls…….I’m sleepy sleepy sleepy……..

I should shoot some jammies! No no………go to sleep!

🙂

My Hair Fair Quest

posted by Gidge Uriza

I have a small notebook beside me at the PC where I jot down fashion details and inventory offers and other things I need to remember. It’s higgledy-piggledy but it’s also a system that works for me. People will say clever things like “oh just type in WORN and then copy and paste that into a text document” which would work famously if I didn’t own so many pieces of clothing that for some unknown reason the creator put the words “WORN ON HEAD” or whatever on them.

I could rename them, but why bother. Back to my point. I keep this notebook. And every once in a while something catches my fancy and gets written down as a WANT. Continue reading
