Spoiling Myself Silly

I’m afraid that after I walked myself to death shopping this evening, I had to just kick off my shoes and do nothing. There is a reason why I create my comfy, happy rooms. It’s for nights like this that I’m just quiet and thinking of how lovely this little world is. Getting ready for Halloween and all the shopping that goes with it has me in a tizzy.

Shopping today was amazing, I can’t remember the last time I had such a good time finding goodies. Continue reading

Hot Hot Haute

oct18_007

One of the reasons I enjoy Fashion Week in real life and Second Life® is the abundance of high fashion designs that are haute, haute, haute. Take the Liana gown from Zanze. There’s nothing practical or sensible about and that is why I love it.

Walking In Your Spider Webs

I had some fun making Projectors for my Gacha items for the HORRORFEST event that opens at 11:59 pm tomorrow night. That’s ALMOST the 19th but not quite. You’re very smart so I suspect you’ll sort it out.

There are five projectors that you can use independently or together in layers. The RARE is the terrible spider you can add or use on it’s own. Continue reading

Wanna Be On Your Mind

oct17_003

One of my favorite features on iTunes, is the “Also Bought” suggestions that show up. The idea is simple, you like something, someone else liked it, so you might like what they liked. That was how I came across Valerie June, a new addition to my list of favorite singers. She’s such a fascinating blend of R&B, folk, gospel and even a bit country that you just cannot pigeonhole in any genre. That kind of versatility is not necessarily an advantage. It often seems the most underrated singers are those who cannot fit in one simple slot. Anyway, if you like Amy Winehouse, Macy Grey, Brittany Howard and the other gritty vocal divas, you will love her.

Wanna be on your mind
Stay there all the time
You can’t call my name

The Citiest People

KatatonikOct12_003

I am in love with this gorgeous gown and capelet from KatatOnik. It comes is all the rich jewel tones that you could need to fill a treasure chest. You will find it at Collabor88.  For some reason, the pose and the cool blue tone of the lighting made me think of Melanie Safka’s extraordinarily beautiful song, The Citiest People. Most people probably have not heard of Melanie, or if they have, they only know her biggest song, Brand New Key. However, if you have a chance, spend some time on Spotify or YouTube and discover her many other fabulous songs, like Kansas, Someday I’ll Be a Farmer or Candles in the Rain.

To the citiest people
In the whole wide world
You’ve been unkind
To an un-city girl
From the stone walls you grew, so
I’m not blaming you
But look what the city –
Just look how the city
Has taken a pretty
And made an ugly of you
Just look what the city
Is doing to you

KatatonikOct12_009

I have pulled out my Fiat Lux projector that I am selling on Marketplace for 50L for shooting the pics today. This is a combination of two projectors – one white and one tinted. They are mod, so you can change the color of the tint. I changed it to red the other day and have often changed it to gold. You can pretty much tint it any way you please. You can also make your own, using the tutorials you can find under the Tutorials tab up above.

To the citiest people
In the citiest town
I’m not the one
To be putting you down
From the stone walls you grew, but
I grew there too
And I know that the city
The dirty old city
Can take such a pretty
And make an ugly of you
Just look what the city
Is doing to you

Pointy Hats Off To The Wizarding Faire

I finally made it to the Wizarding Faire this morning. I wanted two very specific things at the event, as I’m not a wand using/Harry Potter reading/cape wearer sort, I had planned a really limited amount of time to get in and get out.

Props to the builders, when you land you can touch a picture to get a map that details exactly where each creator’s items are. It’s built as an alley of shops (Harry Potter? I don’t know) and each creator is located with a small group in each one. It took me a minute to figure out how to get out of the landing zone – you have to touch a wall of rocks when then opens into the alley. There are words that say TOUCH HERE – but my camera wasn’t set high enough to see them initially.

When I got about the first area of shops – I got caught in the familiar lag soup. And this is where I also want to send out a HUGE set of props to the builders and even organizers- because I mentioned on plurk that I was having trouble and boom hello folks were there to see what was going on.

Being concerned about people’s shopping experience is amazing and really appreciated.  Continue reading

Bossy Cat

DSCN4796
Oscar is a regular fusspot dictator. I generally make my bed as soon as I get up, but left it unmade yesterday when I got up from napping most of the day with a sore throat and ear ache – a typical cold. I planned to fix some supper, take my meds and then go back to sleep so I left my bed unmade. Within 10 minutes, my cat started howling. I go look and he’s sitting staring at the bed and caterwauling away. I shrugged and left him, but he would not stop. He continued to meow endlessly until I finally gave up and made the bed. This is not the first time. He always howls when the beds not made. Have you ever heard of such a thing? There’s a method to his madness. He likes to crawl under the covers and run around under the blanket – more easily done if the bed is made. Anyway, just one more way Oscar is a bossy cat.

Well, on to what I am wearing. I am DJ’ing this morning and went for comfort and ease with this stylish casual gathered top from tram. I picked it up at Seasons Story. It is sold in two parts, the gathered top and the pleated neckpiece suggesting a blouse to be worn underneath.

The shirt itself comes with two options, a solid black or with the black/brown bicolor.

Wizarding Faire pose set with books!

Witch at play (1)

Don’t you hate it when your books do that?! Today I was inspired by Fricka’s new gacha dress and tights set. The tights come with SLink feet appliers, but I wanted to wear these witchy Flutter boots from Lassitude & Ennui (I was reminded of them by a customer who came knocking this morning, “Pardon me, please help me find these boots?” It’s a little funny because I have nothing to do with the store for the most part, but people think I do.). The dress is adorable and topical for the season, and incredibly cheap in Fricka’s shop.

The Wizarding Faire is also great for the season! How convenient that there are such great witchy poses and props, especially these from OKKbye. The poses come with the appropriate book props, and are incredibly playful. I can see these poses being useful in many blogging situations, and in real life too, especially when my books fly away. …Ok I am talking out of my arse. Anyway, I dig it! More photos and credits behind the cut.

Hitchhikers Guide to catching the Coach in 1834

What is a girl to do when she wants to get to the next town over, without a cent to her name?

She strikes a pose, that’s what!

There is very little time left to head on down to the latest round of Genre, This round was Western in theme. While not my normal thing, I thought I’d give it a try.

I ended up looking like a partially dead strumpet, but I am totally fine with that!

Poses all from Shop Free*Style

I tried to find a location to shoot, which was somewhat hard. Most places that had the look I wanted, required traditional garb and esthetics. I had the clothing, but the skin wasn’t appropriate, or so the GMs all told me. Even just for taking pics.

I did eventually stumble upon the starter area for Wyoming West. Again, this was another location I was not allowed to tp down to, but the starter area was nice enough to take a few snaps in.

Quiet Contradictions

Oct10b_004
I love when designers do the unexpected and take something that has been around a long time and use it in a new way. The Fall/Winter collection from Legal Insanity is all about fusing contradictory elements into something new and exciting. One element is the fabric. Through most of the collection, designer Datrip Blackbart uses traditional menswear fabrics – pinstripes and plaids. However, you never see them made into the traditional suit. For the men, they show up in dropped-crotch pants and hoodies and other urban casuals. Meanwhile, for women you see the quiet contradiction of the traditional menswear pinstripe in a strapless formal gown. These pieces deny the expected and take us in an unexpected direction – but more importantly, they work. Looking at this gorgeous pinstripe gown, you can see how perfectly it works.
