Cajsa Fast Five: March 23rd

Fast FiveThere is a Not-To-Be-Missed video today as well as a tutorial on landscaping, upcoming events, the weekly Single Frame Stories challenge and a fun outfit shot at a lovely mystery spot.  So much to see and do.

  1. Drax Files Episode Two: Jo Yardley, 1920s Berlin  The second episode of The Drax Files is out with a tour of 1920s Berlin, interviewing the creator. She gives an overview of the many events organized by the 1920s Berlin community. She explains how she recreates interbellum Berlin in real life as well as Second Life.  Continue reading

Cajsa Fast Five: March 22nd

Fast Five It’s Friday and in addition to the news that the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary episode will feature all eleven Doctors, there is big news coming about AOs in Second Life® and a bunch of fabulous outfits with great pictures, plus a fun challenge.

  1. Second Life Scripting Changes: Nalates Urriah has the skinny on scriptless AOs which I imagine will do lovely things in terms of reducing script count and lag. I am not clear exactly how it will work, but I get the impression you attach an AO with scripts that set your animations, then you can detach the AO and the settings perseverate. Continue reading

A Piece of Cake

Mar21_010

I guess one way for diabetics to have their cake is in the form of a dress like this colorful confection from CheerNo. It comes in all all the bright flavorful colors, blue, pink, yellow, purple, red and green. I went for green because that bright green looks like it could power the universe. Made of a simple sleeveless bodice with four flounces of color for a skirt in three shades of cake frosting and one layer of black on top, it’s like a very, very, very dark chocolate with three flavors of frosting. It looks delicious.

Cajsa Fast Five: March 21st

Fast Five Today there is some good advice that is definitely needed, a clever decorating idea, a gorgeous new skin at an incredible price, a fabulously stylish outfit and an artist that you all should take a look at.

  1. How to Leave Meaningful Marketplace Reviews (Or More Accurately, How to Avoid Looking Like an Ass in One) Iris Ophelia has some advice.  She offers three tips to avoid looking like a jerk or an idiot when reviewing on Marketplace. Somehow I think the people who need to read this are the very ones who will not read it. But, it never hurts for the rest of us to get a good reminder of how to be civil and sensible.
  2. A Curved Wall Family Display: Editorial Clarity offers a solution for those curved walls.  It’s beautiful and would be smart in real life as well. In fact, it makes me want a curved wall.
  3. Focus: Linda Reddevil shot a great photo, but even more I like the styling. Super bold, colorful and iconoclastic. Fair warning, she has autoplay music which you can turn off at the very bottom of the left column.
  4. And Everyone Will Wanna Look Just Like Me: Magenta Devinna gave this post the right title. In fact, as soon as I log in, I am going to go pick up that skin!
  5. Harbor Galaxy’s Photostream:  Her work looks more like paintings than screenshots. If course, she is processing the photos to give them this painterly look. You should take a look just to see how far someone can take Second Life into the world of art.

Let Me Give Your Heart A Break

I Know You Are

Watching the temperature drop has made me a cranky girl. I want my daffodils and spring days. I am ready now, for winter to be gone and the newness of the world to open up like oxygen to us all. Continue reading

Cold Nights and Predictable Books

Comfy and Fine

Despite my wishes, the cold air returned, causing me to thank the Lindens for my fire place and making me turn up that furnace too for a cozy night in. I didn’t feel like anything, certainly not plugging into the world and talking to anyone.

I have a new to me Stephen King collection of short stories that I’m reading. I’m stuck on one, that is either predictable and boring or about to be absolutely terrifying at the next page turn. I don’t know which. Continue reading

Cajsa Fast Five: March 20th

Fast Five I don’t spent much time on the Second Life Community Forums, but occasionally the conversations get very interesting. Today’s Fast Five includes a forum discussion as well as a fabulous post about SL friendships.

  1. Will Second Life still be around 10 years from now? Charli Infinity posed the question at Second Life’s General Discussion Forum and a thoughtful discussion about SL, its future and what makes it viable began. Are you as optimistic as most of the commenters? Continue reading

Skin Fair: quirky cute

tadpole1

Fade Lei of Ugly Duck has a habit of playing with people’s expectations. Sure she can do gorgeous, but she can also do quirky, because there’s a range of motion with those avatar sliders that most of us just don’t use. “Try on Tadpole,” she suggested to me gleefully.

I bought it without even looking at the demo.

“ACHA! What the heck, try on the demo first. You deserve what you just got,” Fade said, more or less.

So I put on Fade’s Tadpole shape and laughed and laughed… But after a while I realized that (a) I like it. It’s got a lot of personality. And (II), the face looks gorgeous in Fade’s Olive skin, with or without the squinty eye. Nice try, Fade. Nice try.
