I am a little excited cuz I joined an SL book club. It might sound silly but I never do stuff very much other than work, and the occasional party so to have a planned SL activity plus yay BOOKS, I was excited.
My friend Owly has been quoting from this book for days, and eventually I was so intrigued I had to ask about it and then next thing I knew I was reserving the book at the library and then I was making plans to attend. Continue reading
Bounce has made a ton (a scientifically accurate standard of measurement) of these gorgeous summer dresses for Vintage Fair. They made me extra happy by making them with different textures that suit different moods instead of a rainbow of one texture. So there’s dressy, romantic, nostalgic, and basically a texture for every day of the week.
This might not sound like a compliment, unless you – as a small child, spent hours and hours in discount fabric stores in the 70s. They heavy, thick fabric texturing of this sundress from Aris Aris reminded me immediately of fabric that you could find on sale to cover your chair, or to make a skirt or a dress. It’s made with natural looking creasing that only lends to it’s appearance as a thick woven fabric, heavier than a denim. Continue reading
She was the walking incarnation of the karma wheel, was Milly. She did good things, good things happened. She did bad things, bad things happened. Yet just like the old witchcraft rules, her evil returned to her threefold (although who is doing that counting is always somewhat suspect to me).
Born in the coal mining hills of West Virginia, the 9th of 13 children, Milly was born into poverty. Her exhausted mother looked at the two nurses who had just come to the house to deliver her and asked “What are your names?”. I am so happy to see Shiki releasing in mesh with this lovely summer dress. The dress has been released in six different prints from this soft and delicate blue to bold tropical oranges, all with the distinctive Shiki love for florals. Not all clothing should be made of mesh, but for this silhouette, mesh is the ideal option.

This is the 3379th post at It’s Only Fashion – they do add up, don’t they? Why did I point that out? Mainly because I could not think of anything to organize this post around. I thought about writing about the effing brilliant Olympic Opening Ceremony – a democracy’s response to the despotic precision of China – but that doesn’t have anything to do with this outfit. I thought about writing about the ineffable presumption of some folks who are so quick to criticize others (creators, event planners, bloggers and photographers to name a few) and how that drip, drip, drip of negativity wears and erodes the spirit – but that doesn’t have anything to do with this outfit. I thought about writing about the fear of rejection that makes clicking an Add Friend button a fraught exercise in risk analysis – but that doesn’t have anything to do with this outfit either. But – I was wearing this outfit when these topics came up and somehow they came to mind when I started to blog.
I even thought about blogging about the upcoming Vintage Fair. After all, the skirt from Peqe has a vintage flair. The fabulous print jacket is called Vintage and the set is Long Angel’s Vintage Picture Window set. I guess three vintages could make that work, couldn’t it? Even if none of the pieces are at the Vintage Fair? So, yes, Vintage Fair is coming – opening August 4th and running to August 29th. I am excited and know many of you will be, too, but there are only a few peeks and previews on Flickr and elsewhere. I know it will be wonderful, but how wonderful is still a mystery.
I feel so totally cheery and energetic in this outfit. When I put it together I immediately felt like I needed to have a car with the top down, a pink poodle and 4 assistants to help me go shopping. Get outta my dreams, get into mah car BEEP BEEP YAH! Oh, remember the blonde chick with the big boobs that the stuck up housewives hated in the movie The Help? Yea, I feel like her. She was hot.
Apparently I’m in the mood to blog, two post in one day, I’m on a roll with a side of slaw. I was passed a skin from EiDOLAN Skins, which is a brand I’m unfamiliar with, called Nikita. I tried on the various eye and lip tattoos that came with it and found the combo I liked. I put on my truth hair called Bailey which I thought might look too bohemian for the corset I am wearing from Dilly Dolls but I think it works. Just because someone is wearing a laced up corset doesn’t mean they gotta look “hard”. I think it’s a good balance.
The corset called Dola Pinstrip comes in various sizes, normally I’m a size M when it comes to standard sizing but this corset is XS. It fits the breast well but also makes my waist super tiny, which is okay, it’s a corset.
It starts off innocently enough. A few drinks, gossip. And then I remembered I had new lingerie and obviously I needed to show it off because, who better to show it to than my friend Vaki? I knew she’d really be looking, and would tell me if she didn’t like it. Continue reading
