I fell in love with the Schadenfreude dress for Collabor88. It’s adorable and the lace-up back is even more so, though you can see that in Zas’ first post highlighting the backs of several outfits.

Hey, that’s me!
The other day Inex Hax asked for same suggestions for this elegant houndstooth dress she was about to release for Peqe. I suggested Baskerville and then, for some reason, did not see follow-up replies because Plurk was being glitchy. So, when I logged in and saw an object from her named Cajsa, I assumed that she had labeled it for delivery. Until I opened it and saw that the box was called Cajsa because the dress was called Cajsa and that was when my eyes popped and I said, “Hey, that’s me!” Like anyone, I am thrilled to have a design named after me, especially when my name confounds so many people. Even better, though, when the dress is so very much “my style” like this dress. You all know I have a deep, abiding love for sheath dresses and pencil skirts, prints and elegant designs that pull from the past but look to the future. This is all that in one.
Moving the Velvet
One of Second Life’s oldest indie music clubs, The Velvet, moved this week and there’s a huge party this weekend to celebrate and raise funds to pay for that transition and keep the club going. There will be music from 9 AM to 11 PM Saturday and Sunday and all the tips will go to the club. The Velvet has been playing great indie music for over five years and hope to keep going strong under the ownership of Maht Wuyts who has managed the club for the last year. The new location is here. I will be DJ’ing early Sunday morning – at 9 a.m. – a strange hour, I know, but then I DJ’ed at 6 AM for SL9B, so this is certainly better timing than that. If you can’t make my set, I hope you can make another – the music at The Velvet is always a great mix so you are sure to enjoy it.
Hair Fair 2012 Braids and Ponies
There’s a lovely variety of braids and pony tails at Hair Fair this year, though it feels like fewer than past years, or perhaps my computer is crashing less while I shoot. I did have to reduce my head size to fit the pony from LaViere, but it’s such a beautiful pony tail it was well worth it. I put the saved shape for that head in the LaViere folder to have it handy in the future. The retro chic Magdalen from Lelutka doubles as an updo when you remove the pony piece. The fabulous adornments in the Exile pieces can be removed, allowing you to wear the hair plain if you like. There were a few hairs I tinted a bit as their red was too bright for me. The other sets are A to Z, but I decided a Z to A might be a good option – just to be fair in case folks get tired before the end of the slide show.

I’ll Eat My Hat
People sometimes use the expression “I’ll eat my hat” to indicate disbelief or improbability. “If that horse wins, I’ll eat my hat.” or “I’ll eat my hat if she’s telling the truth.” The assumption is that the bet is safe and no one will be eating a hat soon. But you know, some hats do look good enough to eat – like this one from Bliensen & MaiTai. I decided to wear it, not eat it, because I love how it looks with this fabulous mesh dress from Kunglers.
There are so many reasons to love the Gisele dress from Kunglers. The sheath dress is always a flattering cut and the deep notched neckline adds a hint of sexiness. Most exciting, though, are the fabulous leaves that were painted on. Kunglers hallmark look is combining organic inspiration from their native South American flora with high fashion design. This dress is instantly recognizable as theirs.

Hoodoo Voodoo

This cute and casual top from MEB called out to me, insisting it would be the perfect choice for showing off the short haircuts. It’s true that a boat neck with hair off the neck, whether short, in an updo or a pony always makes a gorgeous neckline. I added some comfy leggings by Pink Outfitters for the July faMESHed showcase.
Hoodoo voodoo, seven, twenty-one, two
Haystacka, hostacka, A B C
High poker, low joker, ninety-nine to zero

Hair Fair 2012: Short Hair
I definitely recommend you click the slideshow and view it full-size on Flickr. I really wanted you to see all sides of the short cuts, especially the ones from MADesigns with the intricate fade cuts on the tattoo layer. MADesigns tattoo layers are modifiable. You receive a single one that you color to match your hair. All of these cuts are at Hair Fair and a portion of every hair sold goes to Wigs for Kids. I have included several men’s styles that seem to work well for women as well.

The Sweet Spot
High fashion, elegance and sex appeal are not mutually exclusive. I doubt, though, that they have ever come together with such masterful balance as in this gown from NYU for Relay For Life that hits the sweet spot of avant sexy elegance. To make it even sweeter, it’s packaged with three options. You can wear it with the floral skirt and white top, a floral top and white skirt, or with a white top and skirt. And then to make it even sweeter yet, your purchase supports Relay for Life.
The Sun
If you look real high
You just might find
Sitting in the stars
Glistening, glistening
Waiting for the band to come
Just waiting for that man to come
Oh, I wonder…

Gizza has made two sets of four tutus and it would take Solomon to choose the best of them. I wore this delightful Sunburst Tutu because I love its whimsy and the delicate, watercolor colors in the skirt.
Slip on down from that sun
To climb down to earth
And down to things like time
Because we are all, we are all just lovers
Born of earth and light like all these others
Hey there, I like your hair!
Hair Fair 2012 opens at midnight and I am starting to sort hair for my blog posts featuring the different styles of hair you can find there. This event is to raise funds for Wigs for Kids. Meanwhile, I thought I would share the map with you and some useful info on making your experience better.
- Join the Hair Fair Demo Group. You can copy and paste this into your chat window to join as well. You can set it so it doesn’t deliver and only save the demos you want if you’re afraid of being overwhelmed. Test the demos at home.
- Don’t worry too much about your aim when you’re walking around, most of the build is phantom so you can walk through walls.
- Take advantage of the pose balls to jump ahead.
- De-prim.
- Don’t render the other avatars by reducing the number who render in debug settings. The default is 35, you don’t need to see 35 people, you want to see hair. Go to Advanced Menu (CTL-alt-D) and type in RenderAvatarMaxVisible. Lower it to something reasonable like 5. Don’t make it 0 because if you’re not rendered you can’t move. Now, if you can’t see them, you don’t need to care how much they’re wearing.
- Lower your graphic settings. Turn off atmospheric shaders, turn off the water reflections. Turn of particles and lower draw distance. Keep the mesh details high so you can see the hair, though.
- Turn on avatar imposters so even the folks who load are not fully loaded.
- Meanwhile, Darkley Aeon has kindly posted all the slurls to help guide your way.
- And then there is redelivery. I don’t know who is responsible for this innovation this year, but we all owe that person a big hug.
Don’t you love how every year they find another way to make it better?
