I am a confirmed lover of the system skirt. It’s really the only way to get the long, lean look of a pencil skirt. There’s no skirt shape more flattering and sexy than a pencil skirt at least in my opinion. Like most people, I found the initial look of a pencil skirt in SL a bit disturbing because my derriere just ballooned when I put on a skirt. That’s because the system skirt floats above the mesh instead of laying flush on it. I quickly learned to create a skirt shape that fixed all that and have been loving system skirts ever since. It’s not that much work and you only have to do it once – make a copy of your shape, make the edits and save it as Skirt Shape and you’re good to go. There’s an awesome tutorial for you from Miko Okegamu on youtube.

A Date with Frosty the Snowman
Well, not really, but if I did have a date with Frosty, I could not go wrong with this amazing gown from MiaMai. The gown is called Ever East and is a sinuous sexy shimmer of a gown that sleekly slides along your form. With a higher than thou side slit, it’s a perfect reveal of the fantastic Ice Queen skin from PXL Creations. A special holiday gift makeup for the fabulous July skin, this skin has delicate tracery tattooing on the legs, back, bodice and arms.
Options, must have options!
Have you ever watched the Rachel Zoe Project? I confess it is a guilty indulgence of mine. I love fashion and so I can understand her someone out-of-kilter priorities. Much is made of her pet phrases like “Bananas!” and “I Die.” and the like, but they never seem to notice that there is one word repeated again and again and again in every episode – and that word is options. “We need more options!” is the theme of Rachel Zoe and her crazy staff’s lives. Well, if she had this dress she would have many options in one. For example, the bodice can be worn like this with bare skin peeping out or….
It's in the Details
Rebranding is fairly common in Second Life – Genesis becomes Exodi, Fleur becomes 5th & Oxford and in this case, FreeSoul became DeeTaleZ. Generally speaking, I think rebranding is going to be more successful if people can remember how to spell your new name. I guess I am a fuddy duddy in this case. I don’t want to spell Details as DeeTaleZ and I struggle remembering how to spell the store name correctly. But, I don’t have to struggle with the clothing and I have no difficulty remembering the good quality and innovative work.
Sweet Sunday
I love how wildly you can change your entire persona by merely changing clothes and hairstyles. Take off some black leather and put on some batiste and tulle. Comb out the teasing and put in some pigtails. Change the boots for some sandals and in a few minutes you can go from biker chick to girly-girl. In real life, most of us don’t have a broad enough wardrobe to dress in a dozen personas, but in SL – there seems to be no limit. It’s one of the real pleasures of our new world.
And speaking of girly-girl. Is there any place more girly-girl than Hal*Hina? Just look at the lace on that sleeve. Yummy!
Gold To Me
I am a Ben Harper fan. Seriously. He’s a prolific musician who performs a variety of genres defying classification so is the perfect fan-obsession for a peripatetic music lover like me. One of his songs that I really love is Gold To Me and this dress from Donna Flora made me think of it immediately. The rich gold color is laced with black and luxurious black netting at the neckline and the hem give it this a glam look that is perfect for evening.
You look like gold to me, and I’m not too blind to see.
Oh, you look like gold.
Said, you look like gold.
And you make me want to sing with all the joy you bring.
Oh, you look like gold.
Oh, you look like gold.
Like the rays down from the sun when a new day has just begun.
You look like gold.
You look like gold.
Not My Area of Expertise
I have some familiarity with Behavior Body poses and am fond of the Elegance/Garbo AO which I sometimes use to shoot photos in no rez/no script sims as its stands are modish and fashion-oriented. But I was very surprised to be asked by Antosperandeo Allen, the posemaker, if I would like to try out one of his Runway Model Huds and possibly feature it in my blog.
I explained to him that I don’t do runway modeling and am no expert. I gave him the names of several runway models who blog and said they would be much better at it than me. I guess he likes honesty, because then he said he would give them to me anyway AND send all three, if I didn’t mind. Now, really? Who would mind?
So, ease of use. There are 12 poses and 12 numbers. You click on a number and your posing. That’s easy. You can click on this colored square and it changes the orientation of the list of numbers. It’s like Quick Huddles in how it feels and operates. As to the poses, they are very naturalistic. You will not look like Auntie Mame having a DIVA moment, but like a modern modish woman, strutting her stuff. After the cut, I have, for my sins, made composites to show you all 36 animations in the pose position at the end of the animation. Oh…and you can turn your head and orient your gaze. Continue reading
