An IOF PSA: How to Request Customer Service

aug01b_006.jpg

The BabyDoll Dress (Vintage) from House of Fox is a playful, fun summer dress.

I first saw this gorgeous BabyDoll Vintage dress on  the feed. I jotted down the name of the store (House of Fox) and when I next logged in I hopped on over there to get the dress. I am a sucker for vintage floral prints and the print is not only lovely, but I love the way the shape of the skirt and the beautifully made belt. I easily found the store in search and also fell in love with a few other things like the dress you saw yesterday. I was a happy camper until I put the dress on to go shoot photos for the blog and noticed there were no glitch pants and my cheeks were showing. More than my cheeks, but that’s what lingerie is for. However, lingerie did not provide the coverage I needed.  At that precise moment I was feeling a bit wrathful – particularly with the blogger for not pointing this out – but I have learned long, long ago that it’s never wise to ask for a repair or a fix in a wrathful mood, so I decided to wear something else and ask for a fix when I was less agitated. Sure enough, after a time I was calmer and realized that both the blogger and the designer may have been looking at and shooting the dress on a pose stand and not run around enough to see the flaw. And that, dear readers, is the first rule of requesting customer service. Always wait until you feel calm and collected before contacting the store. This is as true in the virtual as in the corporeal world.

Frolicking at the Akasha, Lost Paradise sim.

The pictures in this post were shot at Akasha the Lost Paradise – a lovely sim full of flowers and graceful ruins. So, now you can see from all the quite active Lost Angel Dance and Spring Fever poses I used in this post and the other pictures of the dress on my Flickr, this dress now has glitch pants. That’s because the next time I logged in I calmly and politely asked the creator to send me some. That’s the second rule of requesting customer service: Always make your request clearly and politely. Party All Night Long!

cajsa_002.jpg

Well, until Midnight anyway! Last night I had my 3rd Rez Day Party and we danced for hours and despite Gidge’s best efforts I did not wake up with a dozen strap-ons – though we did have a bumper car attraction for the party last night. It was incredibly fun!! I wore this bright and lively skelton dress from House of Fox. All those vibrant psychedelic colors just screamed party -especially on my dance floor which is aglow with all sorts of color itself. The pose, by the way, is from a recent set from Glamourama Boa’s Just A Pose highlighting plurkers! This is December! Incidentally, Plurk won 2 Stylies for its impact on the community and best third party site.

This one is not from that set but from a set of fetish poses by Just A Pose, but I had to include it because I love it! Besides, it shows off the dance floor. If you come to a party at Lost in the Stars – you will discover that the dance floor gives everyone a bit of a rosy romantic glow. By the way, Sasy took pictures.

hai(r)evolution

jul29c_002.jpg

Hair in Second Life has come a long way since Washu first developed prim hair. This evolution has gone from prim hair to flexis, sculpts and combinations thereof. Over a year ago, we first started seeing hair bases with attachments, usually a bun, ponytail and perhaps an updo in blonde and black, but still limited in variety and color. With the 2.0 tattoo layer we saw a new innovation, the hair base on the tattoo layer with attachments best illustrated by Monica Outlander’s creations for MiaMai which I will highlight tomorrow. Today, I will stay with the skin plus hair base innovation and its tremendous expansion with the release of Baiastice’s new Pulchra skin by Sissy Pessoa.  It’s not just that she also includes brunettes and redheads, but it’s the great variety of hair styles she has produced to work with her hair bases. So many, in fact, that I made a slide show to show them all to you.

A Picnic at Third World

Jul20b_009.jpg

The new Picnic Dress from Haven Designs is a fun and cheery summer sundress that had me heading out for the outdoors. I love the field of daisies that begins lightly on the bodice and gets more intense as it goes down the skirt. The dress comes in seven summer colors with an additional blue limited edition for the Stumblebum Brigade.

I headed out to Third World to check out another corner for this shoot. Seriously, this sim is full of what you could call little set pieces or tableau that are perfect for photos while all working together cohesively.

Porcelain & China

jul29_004.jpg

When I saw the delicate tones of the new Baiastice skins in the Porcelain tone coupled with the delicacy of the lace jacket for this DCNY outfit, I knew exactly where I wanted to shoot – in China. Not the China of hustle, bustle and the Great Wall, but the watercolor China that you can find in the magnificent China sim.

This shot gives you just a small idea of the wonderful photographic opportunities you can find in China. I also played a little bit with perspective, using the CTL-8 lens change to the max to give it a shift in perspective.

Quick Look:Baiastice for A Work Day

posted by Gidge Uriza

Real Life has reared her ugly head and is sending me off packing to go to work. WORK I say. Complete with work clothes and phrases like “Reach Out To” and “That’s a Win for Everyone” or “It is what it is”.

I’m trying to introduce phrases such as “lolz”,”Full of Win” and “I K R!” but so far they’re falling on deaf ears.

Style Notes:

  • Top – Baiastice
  • Pants – Baiastice
  • Shoes – Baiastice
  • Hair – D!va
  • Skin – PXL Creations

Expectations 7 – Royal Expectations

Marie Antoinette was a fashionista. She’s not the original fashionista because there’s Du Barry and Pompadour. I am sure if we could only find the style section of The Imperial Times of Rome, we could discover Calpurnia’s favorite stola maker. Fashion is probably as old as human existence since we just know that some cave women draped their skins better than others. Still, Marie Antoinette does have the singular distinction of being someone whose love of fashion not only contributed to her death, but to a revolution. I guess it is possible to take love of fashion too far. Sshhh! Don’t tell Gidge!

Anyway, if Marie were alive today, she would shop at Sn@tch, and she would buy this dress. Good grief, it’s named after her. I shot it at Utopia 04-Markus Inkpen. When I choose a place to shoot an outfit, I generally choose one of two approaches. Either the setting and the clothing are in complete harmony, such as a 20’s style gown in a speakeasy or  they are completely dissonant such as this bright colorful fantastical dress in this somber sim, apposite and opposite you could say.

The One Where I Learn To Use A HUD

posted by Gidge

Ok I freely admit my own dorkitude on about all counts.

I also admit that prim feet have been my nemesis since the moment the first pair slid onto the grid. I’ve tried this brand and that. I have been epic fail on every count. I did make some BOMB ASS GREEN FEET the other day for a pair of shoes.

Alas, my skin wasn’t green. So that was kind of a fail. But if I had had olive green skin, they woulda been FULL OF WIN.

One of my biggest assets is that I have friends who believe I can do anything. One of my biggest sources of annoyance is that I have friends who think I can do anything. Continue reading

Dancing in a Field of Stars

Lizzie Lexington is a great source of ideas for places to explore in Second Life. She’s an intrepid sim explorer, always finding new and fun places.  I was all set to shoot this dress the other night and she im’ed and asked if I have been to see the Hybrid Productions sim build yet. It was on my to-do list, but I decided that if she was following up, it had to be better than usual so I popped over there and in one of those moments of SLerendipity – it was the perfect place to shoot the dress I was wearing, much better than my original plan.

Actually, it’s not a dress exactly. It’s a fun little mash-up mixing the new Baiastice Arina swimsuit with the LeeZu WhiteStar skirt. Seriously, could I have found any place better? The thing is, if you want to see it, you need to go quickly as the sim closes after July 11th. It’s been created for the launch party of a new album. You can see the details here.  Go while you can – and shoot lots of pretty pictures, because it is beautiful.
