Speaking With a Fan

mar23_006

“Men have the sword, women have the fan and the fan is probably as effective a weapon!” —Joseph Addison

When I studied Spanish in High School, one of the really fascinating lessons was an overview of the language of the fan. For example, resting the fan on the right cheek signaled yes and on the left cheek signaled no. Supposedly the message the fan is sending in this pose is “without your love, I want to die.”  Oops!

Let Me Give Your Heart A Break

I Know You Are

Watching the temperature drop has made me a cranky girl. I want my daffodils and spring days. I am ready now, for winter to be gone and the newness of the world to open up like oxygen to us all. Continue reading

Pacific

I made my way back to Insight Forest, the striking art exhibition space on Visionaria. It’s such a peaceful and serene spot to shoot and turning on the region’s own windlight settings enhances that pacific mood. I wore the new skirt from Baistice. I have shown it before, but this is one of the two-color versions. I added a cream system layer top from LeeZu! The top is very sheer, but it becomes opaque by layering three layers.

Days of Wine and Roses

Mar15_010

I know all of you have seen this top many times over. When it came out, it was so new and distinctive that fashionistas rushed to buy it, including this one. It was blogged over and over again. That happens when items are exciting and fresh. The thing is, though, that this top has qualities that make it good investment dressing, too. It’s something to hang onto for the long haul, to be pulled out next year and the year after that because it is not only well-made, but it is made to play well with others. The relatively short waist keeps it from conflicting with skirts and pants. The lack of a collar lets it fit with lots of jewelry and even several jackets. It’s a keeper.

Today I paired it with this fabulous new pencil skirt from Baiastice. I love that she put in this soft version of a kick pleat in the back, adding an extra bit of stretch when you walk so the fabric does not get so streched. This skirt was released in five solids, six bi-colors and six leathers.

English Muffins

One Bad Pixel released a new mini-collection with a lot of wardrobe basics and this fabulous slip dress. I love dresses like these, light-weight with body-skimming fabrics that float gently, falling on your curves lightly and moving with your body. The large floral print is lush and the colors are so tempting and delicious.  Of course, with the mesh made by SLink’s Siddean Munro and the textures created by Adam n Eve’s Sachi Vixen, they are bound to be well made, beautifully fitted and textured.  Continue reading

7 Facts or Opinions

Seven Facts? Sure.

I wasn’t much in the mood to do the Seven Facts Meme but, I couldn’t think of anything else to say, so let’s see:

  1. Gidge is my first avatar. I’ve said it before but some of you might be new, Gidge is also my RL nickname. I didn’t realize I was supposed to be creating an alternate person.  I’ve been told recently that the fact that I’m so just “myself” in world that it’s off putting to people living their fantasy on the grid.  I think that’s why I spend most of my time alone lately. Cultural Appreciation

Mar02_002

Bilo is one of the most unique clothing brands in Second Life. In additional to the usual Western style designs, Bilo’s Mayaa Thistle also designs clothing drawn from Islamic fashion aesthetics such as this lovely caftan adorned with a wonderful fabric featuring an intricate pattern that developed from the focus on nonrepresentational figures in Islamic art. It is refreshing to see Islamic fashion represented with respect and accuracy in Second Life. When it is as lovely as this caftan,  it’s doubly rewarding.

Are you feeling fameshed?

Mar01_002

Oh, autocorrect does not like puns! Every time I type faMESHed it corrects it to famished. Well, it’s that time again when your hunger for mesh can be satisfied with a trip to the fabulous faMESHed showroom. I am taken with this leather dress from Baiastice featuring a delicate cut out collar. It comes in several solid colors as well as four colorblocked options. I tossed on a jacket from House of Fox because it’s a bit chilly in these parts. I am wearing a large jacket over a medium dress. For some reason, a medium jacket over a small or even xs or xxs dress does not work and portions of the dress show through at the back and shoulders. The only size jacket to work is the large. However, my own shape is medium, so it works for me. And that is why you demo when you shop for items to mix and match with other mesh.

While the Gacha is Good

Do Over_005I gotta admit I’m a fan. I suppose it’s the fun of the hunt, the elusive object we desire that keeps us tossing our lindens in the machines – desperately wanting the ONE thing versus the other.

I confess, I love the gacha. Continue reading

Confessions: Sloth

feb23_014

I was curious how PXL Creations creator Hart Larsson’s would depict Sloth for his Seven Sins gacha, the sin of laziness and indolence and was surprised by his choice of showing tears. If you have been following this series, I have been pairing the skins with the Seven Sins songs from Buckcherry’s album Confessions that was released on Feb. 19th, struck by their near simultaneous release. The interesting thing is how well Hart’s choice suits the Buchcherry song Sloth in which the singer expresses his anger about his father’s suicide, of being too lazy to fight for his family and his life. That makes the tears a perfect match.

Now I’m without you and I just can’t hide it.
You’ll never know anything that I feel inside.
You know I still love you, but I stand divided
Cause I always hated your suicide.

There is nothing mournful about the Baiastice Bibbe dress for Arcade. It’s a delightful dress mixing bold colors and fabulous prints, short and sassy and ready to face the world.
