Purple Moon sought retro inspiration for Vintage Fair in the classic little wool suits of Coco Chanel drawing on the familiar Chanel motifs – richly texture boucle wool fabric in classic colors and prints, piping on the seams that emphasize the structure and fit, and easy elegance. Aptly naming her suits Jackie after the woman who popularized the look in America, she featured two dramatic looks for Vintage Fair.

Shiki Gets Meshy
I am so happy to see Shiki releasing in mesh with this lovely summer dress. The dress has been released in six different prints from this soft and delicate blue to bold tropical oranges, all with the distinctive Shiki love for florals. Not all clothing should be made of mesh, but for this silhouette, mesh is the ideal option.

“Now, if you ever have the opportunity to go to Los Angeles, why don’t you take a pencil out, sharpen it, and shove it in your eye. Cause you’ll be better off sitting in a hospital emergency room holding the pencil steady, wondering what you’re going to look like in a jaunty eye-patch, than to spend a minute in that town…….. You Can Almost See My Sn@tch

Every week Ivey Deschanel releases a new note card with another play on her stores infamous name. I’m not sure how she keeps it fresh, but I always secretly giggle a bit. They entertain me, what can I say? Continue reading
A very, very complex person

The red sequin cocktail gown from CIA Designs for Vintage Fair is a torch singer’s perfect accompaniment.

I got senses that I cannot control
My stomach’s like a bottomless hole
My desires command me like a slave
I’m a knave, I can hardly behave Continue reading

Devil in the Details
It’s trite but true that success and artistry is found in the details and, in this case, in Les Petits Details. That’s where I found this gorgeous and oh-so-romantic dress at Vintage Fair. Les Petits Details is new to me, which is why events like Vintage Fair can be so exciting – adding the thrill of discovery to the already proven pleasure of great fashion.
It’s Time…To Dance, Perchance to Dream…

Whimsy and fun are half the reason I log in to SL. The other half is clearly the wry repartee. Continue reading
Bonne Chance
One reason I love vintage clothing is its unabashed femininity. This dress from Bonne Chance for Vintage Fair is as feminine as they come with its slender, figure-hugging silhouette and lacey white on white adornment, it’s a dress fit for jazz nights and afternoon teas.
