Keep It Simple

dec04_002

I completely fell in love with this coat from Topazia even though I am wearing it without its fur cuffs and collar. It comes in 9 lovely colors and is styled to easily wear over a dress or skirt. The collar and cuffs are typical prim fur with the typical alpha glitches that only disappear when viewed from the right direction. I thought the coat looked more chic and modern without them. However, for a more luxe look you can certainly add them. For me, I will go with the clean lines of the simple mesh coat.

As you can see, it’s not lacking for design details that define it as a high end coat with the caplet bodice and the lovely bow. The dress, worn a size smaller peek sour where it should and not where it should not. The little handbag from Cherry is delicious.

I Need A Ding Dang Chair

I have made the Arcade Yard Sale rounds and I have to say, I’ve very nearly got everything I want. I’m not THAT needy, I don’t have to have them ALL of anything, and there are some rares that elude me. I won’t pay much more than pull price though – so you see, it’s tough for me to complete a set because so many people jack up the prices so high.

For instance, the chair for the amazing Apple Fall set. Continue reading

Winter White

Dec02_004

I love the fun, modern styling of this winter coat from Baiastice. It’s deceptively simple, but the details are telling from the slightly dropped hem in the back, the pocket inset and the fabulous box pleat in the back.  It comes in several colors, but this winter white is the one that won my heart.  Continue reading

Some Snaps from the Home Tour – WEEKEND ONE

I was cleaning out my SL purse and realized I had some snaps in there that I wanted to share from weekend one of the SL HOLIDAY HOME TOUR.  If you are interested in taking the tour on one of the upcoming weekends (I think there are two more) contact Tymmerie Thorne in SL or on plurk and she’ll get you the NC of Slurls!

The snaps I managed to take were at my friend Darkley Aeon’s house. You might know Darkley from Guerilla Avatar. Where she blogs flawlessly with a great sense of style and consistently great quality images.  If you haven’t checked out her blog before you SHOULD.

So, let’s look at her stuff.

Darkley is living back in my old neighborhood in the Government Housing. She’s prim limited but has made some great choices. She created a frosty winter living room look with hints of ice blue – looks like a lot of it is from Bazar which makes GREAT low land impact furniture.

It’s an elegant room but with a great wintry look. Continue reading

Cajsa Fast Five: December 1st

Fast Five December 1st —  time races toward the end of the year. I have been slacking on my Fast Five. I have been slacking everywhere it seems. My health has not been great these past few months, but I finally got health insurance approval for physical therapy, so things are looking up.

  1. Let It Snow!  — Mokotana Boa has a delightful collage of Arcade gleanings with a fun little video perfect for December in the northern hemisphere.
  2. LOTD #493 Snow — Carolina Sauterau is adorable with cutest little bear on her arm.
  3. The Return of Harland Quinn – Season 2 of The Blackened Mirror — Prim Perfect updates us on the second season of the fabulous Second Life® serial mystery drama. Honour McMillan also wrote about this in A Good Kind of Drama.
  4. Red Shoes — Inara Pey has a piece about a wonderful art project highlighting the murder of 800 plus women in Juarez over the last decade. Combining art and activism in RL and SL – this is an exciting project.
  5. Away From the Keyboard — Whiskey Monday’s fabulous photographs are often featured in the Fast Five. Her last post announces a short hiatus while she works her way through a low period of depression. I admire her frank courage in writing clearly and honestly about depression. When my brother-in-law was in the grip of depression, I wish we had a better understanding of how it felt. If someone you know struggles with depression, this is worth reading for an insight into their experience. For another insight into that experience, check out Hyperbole and a Half’s Adventures in Depression.

Winding Down @ Shoetopia

nov30_001

There are less than 12 hours left to explore, shop and spread joy to shoeless people around the world because Shoetopia closes at midnight. Remember, you are not only buying gorgeous shoes, but you are also helping raise money for Soles4Souls – an international effort to shod the shoeless. When you and I want a new pair of shoes, we want it for reasons of style, fashion or sport, but there are children who want shoes so they can go to school, so they can avoid hookworm parasites and deadly infections and injuries. Shoes for them are not a fashion statement, but a lifeline. So before time runs short, go to Shoetopia and shop, shop, shop.

The Holiday Home Tour – I’ll Start With Me!

I spent the better part of a week hunting the new and the awesome to decorate my house for this Christmas season. I have to admit I’m a little sad that the Arcade didn’t open in time for me to add some of the lovely things I’ve seen that are coming but eh, I’ll get them in what- 3 weeks when you can get in? 🙂 Oh who am I kidding? I’ll totally get them at yardsales – tomorrow.

I am so excited about the holiday home tour. My mother and I used to always go to holiday home tours when I lived near her, it was a glimpse at a house I’d never have – kind of like day dreaming a little fantasy – and sharing it with your mom. But in SL we can all have whatever kind of house we want. I love to see how people express their holiday joy when they decorate. I hope you enjoy mine.

The living room is always the room I work on first as I consider it the room for entertaining and socializing. Plus it’s what you see first when you walk in the room.

Trompe Loeil has a really comfy holiday sofa and I combined it with some chairs from What Next, a pillow basket and coffee table from earlier releases of Trompe Loeil as well. Continue reading

Shoe Art at Shoetopia on the Last Day.

Nov29_003

Shoes like these from BSD Design Studio are not for the faint of heart, but for the daring. They are works of art – as surely as anything in a gallery space. In fact, they deserve galley space. These are from BSD Design Studio where you can always find bold, innovative haute fashion designs. Since the advent of Gos auto-tinting and Slink appliers, I have become spoiled and resist having to tint feet, but it was worth the bother to put these lovely shoes on.

Thankfulness

nov28_006

There are some great pieces that can be mixed and matched at Collabor88. The top from Aux works brilliantly with the pants from Baiastice for example. I just had to wear one size smaller pant to make sure there were no stray spots bumping through in the back.

Despite the false mythology of our first Thanksgiving and the martial origins of the official Thanksgiving holiday, Thanksgiving remains one of my favorite holidays. I acknowledge that sordid history, but I love that we have a holiday that is not about anything more than gathering with friends and family to focus with gratitude on the richness and plenitude of our lives. It’s unfortunate that it’s been invade by retail commercialism and ever-more-desperate consumerism, but that is on us. We allow it. And we can bring the holiday back to food, family and thankfulness if we care enough.

nov28_002

I am thankful for many things in my life, but for this post, I want to focus on those things that make me thankful in my Second Life®. First and foremost, I am thankful that Second Life exists and for its culture of creativity, liberality and freedom that allows people to express themselves as they wish to – as people, birds, horses, monsters, cats, dragons and even oscillating balls of light. I am thankful that Linden Lab and Philip Rosedale had that brilliant insight that the users could be allowed to make the world and it could be interesting. I am thankful that LL keeps advancing adding new ways to make our world more beautiful, from Windlight to mesh to materials to whatever comes next, our world evolves and because more beautiful all the time.

So,Your Dinner Is Ready!

I had to do some last minute shopping at MY ATTIC before it closes, as well as Shoetopia, for the perfect hostess look for my Thanksgiving meal. I also cooked a turkey and made a huge meal, so I hope you come over and eat.

I’ll never finish this giant bird alone! Continue reading
