Going For Baroque

Mar27_003

Yes, I went for baroque, combining a sweater, skirt, collar, leggings and jewelry for a lace on lace style that is as extravagant as it is elegant.  The skirt I have worn before, a favorite of mine from Baiastice. It is just the right length and has a nice high waist to fit well with so many tops. The sweater from h.m.a.e.m. is divine and cleverly comes with the alpha in two lengths in case you want to show some midriff. She made a black sweater with white lace also and I may go back and pick it up.  Continue reading

Casual Comfort and Joy

in shadow_001

I used to own this book, titled something like How To Live Well When Your Age and Income are UNDER 30. Oddly, it was sort of a lifestyle book for when your career and finances aren’t in keeping with the aesthetics you’d like to embrace.

It gave you advice on how to appear “all together” – always wear at least lipgloss, do you nails – do them yourself it’s cheaper. Wear a scarf, it classes up even a tee shirt. Meet friends for apps vs dinner – it’s cheaper but still conveys that social eating and drinking vibe. It taught you how to hunt for chic, fun things to do within your budget. Continue reading

Wee Little Me

mar25_001

I stopped by at Avatar Games this morning and got to feel like a wee little tyke. The back wheel of the velocipede dwarfs my avatar.

Luckily I was dressed in some casual clothing suitable for climbing mountains of books. The casual tank is from Pink Outfitters. I was tempted by the cuteness of this purse from MiaMai for The Critter Society arcade. With pandas, fox, raccoons and other critters in a rainbow of colors, even the Grinch would find one to tease out a smile.

Just Visiting On A Sunday

Just Visiting

It seemed perfect to check out JUST VISITING on a Sunday, the traditional day of calling and visiting friends – after church of course.

I can’t remember having been here, so either it’s new or new to me but I decided it would be a more perfect world all purpley.
My Lunch Didn't Agree With Me
I tried to grab some lunch while visiting but then my lunch tried to grab me. I didn’t find this to be polite AT ALL!

Perfectly Purple

But in terms of a beautiful relaxing place to swaddle yourself in the windlight of your pleasure, it’s a perfect place.

Speaking With a Fan

mar23_006

“Men have the sword, women have the fan and the fan is probably as effective a weapon!” —Joseph Addison

When I studied Spanish in High School, one of the really fascinating lessons was an overview of the language of the fan. For example, resting the fan on the right cheek signaled yes and on the left cheek signaled no. Supposedly the message the fan is sending in this pose is “without your love, I want to die.”  Oops!

A Piece of Cake

Mar21_010

I guess one way for diabetics to have their cake is in the form of a dress like this colorful confection from CheerNo. It comes in all all the bright flavorful colors, blue, pink, yellow, purple, red and green. I went for green because that bright green looks like it could power the universe. Made of a simple sleeveless bodice with four flounces of color for a skirt in three shades of cake frosting and one layer of black on top, it’s like a very, very, very dark chocolate with three flavors of frosting. It looks delicious.

Let Me Give Your Heart A Break

I Know You Are

Watching the temperature drop has made me a cranky girl. I want my daffodils and spring days. I am ready now, for winter to be gone and the newness of the world to open up like oxygen to us all. Continue reading

Cold Nights and Predictable Books

Comfy and Fine

Despite my wishes, the cold air returned, causing me to thank the Lindens for my fire place and making me turn up that furnace too for a cozy night in. I didn’t feel like anything, certainly not plugging into the world and talking to anyone.

I have a new to me Stephen King collection of short stories that I’m reading. I’m stuck on one, that is either predictable and boring or about to be absolutely terrifying at the next page turn. I don’t know which. Continue reading
