About Cajsa Lilliehook

Santino Rice's little ditty "It's only fashion" seems a perfect title for my little fashion blog as you and i know that fashion means the world to him. Co-founder of It's Only Fashion and Blogging Second Life.

Charmeuse

My favorite fabric is charmeuse – a thick heavy and soft as rainwater silk. My favorite piece of clothing in real life is a vintage robe of apricot charmeuse with heavy raised embroidery – apricot on apricot so the bodice holds its shape. I just has to say, silk charmeuse sliding on naked skin is yummy.  This dress from Baiastice is charmeuse and honestly when you wear something to wonderful to touch and feel, it’s a crime to wear something underneath it. A Crime!!!

Holy Primflap, Batman!

We all know the drill. You put on your system clothes and then attach your primflap or crotch prim and begin to adjust and adjust and adjust. You want those textures to line up. You want the top of the prim not to stick out like a tiny shelf suspended off your pelvis. You hope the prim and the system pieces are the same shade. That the front and the back melt into the system pieces flawlessly. But they don’t, do they?

Well, don’t ask me how she did it, but Annyka Bekkers has mastered the primflap as you can see in this slipdress – Felice, from blowpop.  It’s not impossible to spot the prim, but it’s damn difficult.  I have never seen this difficult and aggravating piece of clothing done so well. It’s really an amazing job…and the prim flap is even harder to see on the lighter shades of clothing.

What's In A Name?

Juliet asked, “What’s in a name?” She answered that names really don’t matter, that which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet. Gertrude Stein said something similar, “A rose is a rose is a rose.” But…

She’s wrong!!!

Don’t get me wrong, I would love this new hairstyle from Truth no matter what it was called. It reminds me of my mother braiding my hair in a coronet round my head. It is so me, it takes my breath away, but that it’s also named after me makes me do the happy dance. Yes, this is the Cajsa hair style – a lovely gesture from Truth Hawks – not only making a hair style that I suggested, but giving it my name.  I was so excited, I made my RL friends look.

That must have been some battle

I won this dress!  And after Iota told me about the inspiration for the dress – The Battle of Rajasthan – I think it’s so appropriate that I won it. To be completely honest, I don’t see a battle going on in the dress – unless it’s a battle between pink and green. If so, well the wearer is the victor. Iota made this dress in several shades and it took me almost two weeks to pick the one I wanted. There’s a gorgeous blue and yellow that had my name on it, too.  However, since retiring from photography, I have to watch my lindens more closely and happily winning 2nd in one of her photo contests, I was able to get one. I love pink and green together – just about more than anything…so this is it. The dress is called Junko – after one of Iota’s friends, but no matter the name, or the inspiration, the fabric is just amazingly detailed and beautiful.

La Dolce Vita

Sophia Loren is an immortal fashion icon. Her exquisite taste and good looks have been exemplars of what great fashion can look like for decades. La Couture Chapeau has offered up a tribute to her timeless style by recreating some of her iconic hats such as this red one that demonstrates an utterly outsized extravaganza of a hat can be perfect. That proportion can be wildly disproportionate and work.

Love at First Sight

I am so glad I went to Fabulous Fashion TV on Monday night. First, it introduced me to two new jewelers, but even more exciting, whilst wandering around the store at one of the jewelry (Piso) I happened upon a new to me hair store called Mirone and it was love at first sight, and at second and third too for that matter.  Look at that whispy casually elegant updo. The hair textures are absolutely perfect and I am in love.

I am in love the the adorable dress from Truth as well. With the big, bold paisley design, it’s got a graphic punch to it. The shrug I added just in case the weather turned chilly. From Project Kiwi, it’s just that little bit of warmth on your shoulders that you want on a summer evening.

Second-Hand Rose

Truth’s Secondhand Jacket is delightful – it has an old-fashioned comfort look about it. You just know the fabric is soft from wear and that all the stiffness in the collar and pockets is long long gone and what’s left is pure, unadulterated comfort clothing.  I paired it with the Feure shirt from MichaMi in part because I am so in love with the texturing on that shirt I seek opportunities to wear it. I feel the same way about the Adam N Eve leather pants. They are my favorite leather pants in SL and they are hot. Moreover, they are thoughtfully packaged with a bootleg and regular leg for maximum flexibibility.

In Peach I Trust

There are four colors that are universally flattering and one of them is this gorgeous peachy coral color.  You simply cannot look bad in it no matter what you do. Here you see it in a fun little dress with a huge and extravagant collar. It’s from Clotheshorse and is called Aldina.  I love its peachy punch of color and think the shoulder prim is one of the best examples of that type of collar I have seen.

Boundless Bonds

Damn, that last post of Gidge’s was pure genius and it’s hard to post anything after that, but here goes something that will not be funny or witty, but becuase the dress is so clever, it will be worth your while. Don’t you just love it when designers make their outfits tintable – so your color choice is limited only by your personal taste? That’s what Polina Kaestner did with her corseted dress. The original out of the box look is a white dress with a spice corset – but I tinted the dress to an almost nude peach and the corset to a lovely rosy salmon.

Then I did it in blue. Now to get these colors, I did corset in a color I liked and dragged the color into one of the white squares to save it. Then I opened a dress piece and colored it the same as the corset and then lightened – upping luminescence by 20 points – so they are different shades of the same color.Incidentally, this corset is made for mixing and matching with other outfits.

Viva La Jolene

Now if Dolly Parton had been wearing this she never would have had to write, “Jolene, Jolene, I’m begging you please don’t take my man.” Of course, this is named Jolene,  probably because that’s what she was wearing, though I cannot imagine Dolly in granny pants, can you? There’s a lingerie party at MDR tonight with DJ Ashleigh Dickens – and Ashleigh is a fun  DJ. I am thinking I will be wearing Jolene – though I promise not to take your man even though with this lingerie, Dolly Parton says I can.

Over the lingerie, the super sexy Clingy Satin dress from Viva La Glam. Yes, they’re back and I immediately went to see if they were as wonderful as I remembered. Nostalgia has that effect, you know. As you can see, they are as good as ever. Now let’s cross our fingers and hope they bring back the metallic tights so I don’t have to feel guilty every time I blog them.
