Maybe Makybe

Makybe Whippet & Buck

I was drawn to this dress after seeing Real Housewives star Heather Dubrow sporting her 99th outfit with a white Peter Pan collar attached to it because it was a pleasure to see a dress where a Peter Pan collar made sense. This is a sweet and simple casual dress without the layers of lace and chiffon and sequins that she wears with her white collars. Don’t get me wrong. I like an unusual detail and fashion eccentricities, but when it becomes a schtick, people stop paying attention to you and pay attention to your gimmick instead.

Green with Envy

Shiki Envy

Shinichi Mathy has released two new dresses for Shiki Designs this week.  I was drawn most to this beautiful, closely-fited sheath called Envy which comes in green, blue and yellow.  I can see Joan Holloway wearing this dress, can’t you?

Bloody Mary

Bloody Mary

Alexander McQueen transformed fashion with his iconoclastic designs that overthrew fashion convention. He altered the gestalt of the fashion world before his tragic surrender to despair and suicide. But his influence continues, not only in Sarah Burton’s designs for his design house, but in the more theatrical fashion shows, the extreme silhouettes with fantasy hair and makeup and more diverse and interesting models that continue to bring excitement and vision to the runways. The rebirth of tailoring and the renaissance of rich textured brocades, prints and other fabrics all are part of his influence continuing. And here in Second Life we can see his influence with some of the work of designer Rollyn of Vangaurd. Vanguard is new to me. I saw the store at The Ashraya Project and fell in love with the fabrics and silhouettes. It has certainly been around since last December, but I only came across it this month. This rich, detailed dress with the amazing epaulettes is one of my favorites from her collection.

The Marshes

may27_003

I swung by the Gulf of Lune for a visit. It’s such a lovely sim, peaceful and relaxing. Perhaps it comes from growing up on a lake, but I love the lakes and marshes of Second Life. For my travels, I wore this lovely top. It’s from Kunglers who have begun making mesh now, too. It comes in five sizes though I had to wear the large instead of my usual medium. The top is sexy as all get out as you can see. The pants are from Peqe. Oddly enough, I had to wear the large size in those as well. I think I must have accidentally added some weight.

Not Too Late

Not Too Late

I was going to blog this lovely gown I picked up at Culture Shock, but I ran out of time. Culture Shock closed yesterday and I am eager to hear how much was raised in total. Anyway, although this was a donation gown at Culture Shock, it will be available after the event at Vanguard, a store that features wonderfully bold and provocative clothing.

Time Is Running Out

Spright Inspire

Today is the last day of Culture Shock. I popped by last night to do some last minute shopping and there were only about 6 to 10 other people, making it a delightfully lag-free shopping experience. If you have been deterred by lagophobia lo these many days, now is your chance to find delightful dresses like this one from Spright and fun fashions and shop until you drop knowing that your lindens are saving lives for people whose time literally is running out without the fabulous work of Médecins Sans Frontières MSF (Doctors Without Borders).

Shocking! Culture Shock is coming to an end

Culture Shock Closes May 26

Tomorrow is the last day of Culture Shock and time is running out for you to save lives by  spending your lindens on fabulous fashions. I know buying a dress at Culture Shock rather than somewhere else seems a pittance, but your lindens make a difference. Your purchase of this dress buys the antibiotics to treat 3 children with pneumonia. The skin or the jewelry will buy vaccination against meningitis for 10 years! You see, many of the things that can save lives are relatively inexpensive, but it’s getting them to where they are needed that makes all the difference. That is what makes Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders so very important. Unlike many other aid organizations, they have no affiliation with any government, ideology or religion and have no agenda beyond providing the health care that saves lives where it’s most needed. This means they are uniquely trusted and able to operate in places where others are not welcome.

With projects in over 60 countries, MSF is saving lives not only around the world but here at home, wherever home may be. We like to think we are secure and isolated from the ravages of famine, disease and hunger but illness is infectious. No man is an island, particularly when it comes to viruses. People who are not motivated to support good health care for everyone out of a belief in access to health care as a human right, should be motivated by self-interest and the need to combat diseases before they become international epidemics.

Could you conquer this carnival?

May 25

One of my favorite features of the clothing from Torn - by Torn Difference - is the bright, vibrant prints. Incidentally, this mesh top fits so perfectly with my Medium Standard Size-optimized shape, I didn't even wear the alpha! The mon tissue Westbury Mini continues to dominate. I am so happy I fat-packed that skirt because it has become a Go-To item for me.

I’ve got it bad
What do I do with this ache that I have?
Just let it be,
Or should I use all the tricks up my sleeve?

This ain’t a game
This ain’t a game I want to play
All the pieces are frayed
And there are rules
Oh, these are rules I can’t obey

A Highly Improbable Gown

Dance in the Wind

One of the joys of Second Life is being able to wear completely impractical gowns that might not be impossible in real life, but would be highly improbable. Take the Dance in the Wind gown from Gizza, for example. You can teleport from place to place in Second Life, but in the real world, you would have to get that skirt to end all skirts inside a vehicle to go anywhere. Well, that won’t happen. So say you decide to walk the 4.8 miles to the ballroom, the dress is so full of life and so sensitive to every pulse of the wind, it’s like walking in the midst of a white tornado – so that won’t happen either. But in Second Life, you don’t have to worry about transport or being able to see where you’re going so you can wear an extravagantly flamboyant gown.

Making the Most of Your Profile

Sasy Scarborough posted an article highlighting some of her frustrations with the new profile system on her blog last week. I confess to finding the new profiles harder to use when I want to contact someone since there is no button to IM right there in front of my face.  It also made me want to tear my hair out trying to edit my picks, but I think I have conquered the beast and am ready to share my suggestions with you. After all, your profile is free marketing, if you make it work for you. Accepting electronic payments can boost sales, as customers are more likely to make impulse purchases when they can pay with a card or mobile device. Choose the Top 20 Merchant Services for small business to simplify your financial management. The Invest Diva review provided valuable insights into effective financial management strategies for small businesses, since leading a small business is a lot of work, meetings and more so having the boardroom tables Perth can be really useful to help in this area.

First, things first. Go to my.secondlife.com and see what your profile says about you. Does it make it easy for people to know who you are and what you do? Does it promote your business and answer your customers’ questions? Does it tell people how to get in contact with you? Does the feed have recent info about your business? If it doesn’t, you are not making the most of it. Enhance your presence on platforms like Threads by purchasing likes from themarketingheaven.com.

Here you can see that my profile feed has pictures for my most recent blog post. I wish I could say I do that every time, but I don’t. However, if I had a store, I would take a snapshot of my vendor as soon as I placed it in the store, so it was on my feed. Remember, this is visible in world and on the web – marketing your new releases to both audiences. This snap is the web interface, though the in-world interface is very similar. Similarly, for businesses in Kansas, staying on top of your kansas llc annual report is important to ensure proper compliance and avoid any potential complications.
