Vacation Clothes

Growing up we had a family tradition of vacationing at the Gulf of Mexico. All people from Indiana do so, from what I can tell. Once we had settled into our hotel, my mother and I traditionally went to a ladies “beach store” and we each got one nice sundress, matching flip flops and sometimes a necklace.

Shell necklace obviously. Continue reading

Shaping Up for Summer – A Shape Review for Tuli Shape #4

Both pixel and RL Gidge hate deciding what to wear. When I say hate, I mean dislike with the fire of 1000 suns. It’s not that we don’t WANT to get dressed and be cute. It’s that, there’s decisions. And more decisions. Pixel Gidge has an inventory the size of the grid. And RL Gidge isn’t much better.

Thus we both tend to sit about not quite done, wondering what to put on next.

That’s why I’m blogging SHAPE and UNDERWEAR TODAY!  Continue reading

Falling Upward: This Dress Is Made of Antimatter

jun05_004

While scientists at CERN have been designing an experiment to see if Newton’s apple might fall upwards, they results are in. Scientists at Peqe Laboratories have already developed a method of collecting antimatter without annihilating the planet and proven that yes, indeed, antimatter does fall upwards. How else to explain the anti-gravity powers of the Nine dress from Peqe? What keeps that dress up? Anti-matter, obviously.

While noting that this dress does almost miraculously fall upward, it does have a couple of issues that make you trying the demo particularly essential if you are one of those people who will not adjust your shape on single digit. She kept the alpha as small as possible, so you will probably need to adjust the torso just a bit. I had to reduce my cleavage a bit, making the breasts a little farther apart so there was no alpha showing along the neckline. In certain poses, a bit of skin pokes through right below the bottom of the neckline and at the back of the skirt. It is perfect 85% of the time or so, but there are a few poses that break through. The only option for 100% coverage is making the alpha disappear the entire body under the dress. Some designers and fashionistas like that, some prefer the body to remain as whole as possible. That is solely a matter of personal preference, not good or bad design. Antimatter can make it stay on the shoulders, but it does not fix everything.

You might have thought that it was held up by the back of the dress, but see…It’s clear that it plunges past normal bounds both back and front and would naturally slide off the shoulders and bare far more than is Safe for I Heart SL if not for antimatter. Continue reading

Sometimes There’s Nothing For It But Beach Therapy

Sometimes real life gets too real and my avatar and I need fantasy STAT. My favorite aspect of having a Second Life playground is the ability to choose a climate, real or imaginary, and immerse myself in it. I suppose it’s a primal urge, the rush to the sea that so many of us get in SL. It’s not just a luxury, something calls us there, there is nothing as relaxing and calming to me as time at the sea.

Even a virtual one. Continue reading

Hiatus No More

My computer is back! New logic board, new graphics card and new adapter. I actually got it back last night, but then my wireless router when fuzzy and I could not access the internet. It almost made me feel as though the internet was picking on me. However, it’s fixed now and I am back. It felt good to log in and put on a new outfit and freshen up a bit. I even did a manicure, using the new polish applicators from FLAIR.

I picked up this jacket and skirt last month while I was hunting around Mimikri for a good jacket to wear with something. This jacket did not work for what I needed at the moment, but I loved it and the skirt that coordinates with it. Actually, I pulled the jacket from one color set and the skirt from another just to have a little extra contrast, but for folks who like their jackets and skirts to match, they can buy them in matching colors, too.  I love the prints and the casual elegance of the styling. I Have Some Boots You’re Going To Need

So I have NEWS! If you remember the FLUX events, the Mardi Gras, the Taxidermia event, then you might be excited to learn that FLUX is returning with a new monthly THEMED event. What’s fun about FLUX is that it isn’t a big discount room full of crap you don’t need, rather it’s a themed event where invited creators are releasing lovely items based on that month’s concept.

The first concept in the hopper is AMERICANA and I’ve got a sneak peak at the EASY RIDER boots from Memento Mori by FLUX creator GHOST MANNEQUIN. You’ll have to wait till July but it’s shaping up to be an AWESOME event. Continue reading

And How To Spend My Weekend?

The bed’s made the apartments swept and dusted, and now I can’t decide how to spend my weekend! Fill it with mirth? Get some work done? Actually see friends in SL for a change? Continue reading

Why Does The H & G Expo Make It SO Hard To Shop There?

I have now spent three days attempting to shop at the Home and Garden Expo to support Relay for Life. With all of the shenanigans with Ionic ripping RL tiny artists (seriously don’t even argue with me – that case is closed), I wanted to go and BE SUPPORTIVE of the event and charity.

And then I actually tried to go.

The first morning, I had like an hour. I found a slurl someone had posted and ended up in an area that was really not interesting. I had a little time to explore though, and didn’t feel like being “SHOP AND GET OUT” so I wandered. Then I crashed. Then, when I tried to go back, the sims were offline. All of them.

I asked on plurk and was told “Yeah that keeps happening.” I can’t validate that. But I know that for the rest of my log in time that day, they weren’t back.

The next day I had about 30 minutes, it was crunch time. I had a short list of things I REALLY wanted and creators I REALLY wanted to support. Lag. Ok, I know they’ll be lag. Lag. I ask – is there a list of slurls? I get point to THIS. This is not a list of slurls. This is a list of slurls to the SIMS. WHO IS ON WHAT SIM? HOW DO I GET THERE?

I also was shown a map I can’t blow up nor read. I tried to read the maps at the event but again they were so small I can’t read them. It seems like it SHOULD blow up so maybe that’s just my PC. Continue reading

Styling with the St✰rs of Second Life®

I have been without my computer too long now. I fell asleep while reading this morning and dreamed I walked into a real-life store staffed with some of the Style St✰rs of Second Life walking around in the flesh,  talking up fashion and trying to style me up to the minute.

angelina-jolie-oscars-legs

First there was Sasy Scarborough who kept posing while I was talking to her, bending over and stroking her leg and reminding me that clean lines and smooth skin were the ultimate fashion essential. I was flummoxed and kept naming skin brands, “So should I get Lelutka, Glam Affair, Belleza, PXL, Adam n Eve? What are you saying?”

4d3e_Angelina_Jolie_-_Legs_012070112She just shook her head in disappointment. The thing is you never want to disappoint Sasy. After all, she’s the standard bearer of fashion bloggers and even though she’s just the tiniest bit bossy (Surely that is why she came embodied as Angelina Jolie) it’s always for your own good.

So of course, I was sad that I was so disappointing, but after I woke up I realized that she was telling me to wear SLink’s hands and feet with appliers for smooth skin and of course her own brand of FLAIR manicures and pedicures that come in nearly 100 versions. Sometimes I am not the brightest person while I sleep.
