Skin Fair: quirky cute

tadpole1

Fade Lei of Ugly Duck has a habit of playing with people’s expectations. Sure she can do gorgeous, but she can also do quirky, because there’s a range of motion with those avatar sliders that most of us just don’t use. “Try on Tadpole,” she suggested to me gleefully.

I bought it without even looking at the demo.

“ACHA! What the heck, try on the demo first. You deserve what you just got,” Fade said, more or less.

So I put on Fade’s Tadpole shape and laughed and laughed… But after a while I realized that (a) I like it. It’s got a lot of personality. And (II), the face looks gorgeous in Fade’s Olive skin, with or without the squinty eye. Nice try, Fade. Nice try.

Pacific

I made my way back to Insight Forest, the striking art exhibition space on Visionaria. It’s such a peaceful and serene spot to shoot and turning on the region’s own windlight settings enhances that pacific mood. I wore the new skirt from Baistice. I have shown it before, but this is one of the two-color versions. I added a cream system layer top from LeeZu! The top is very sheer, but it becomes opaque by layering three layers.

Cajsa Fast Five: March 19th

Fast Five There is a theory that the more choices we have, the harder it is for us to decide. We become paralyzed by choice. That sure can happen in SL when there is always more things to do than we can ever get to. At least, here we are sticking to five.

  1. Neva River Sim Opening Its Doors: Neva Crystall is opening her home for visitors for ten days. If you saw her sim last year, it was beautiful. I will bet that it is even prettier this year.
  2. Ribbet! OK, so this is not technically a Second Life blog post or even anything really close, but many folks in SL don’t have PhotoShop and would like a good alternative. This is very much like the old Picnik that people have been mourning since it went away.
  3. One more Spring post: Lana Quicksand shows us Whispering Wind, a beautiful sim to spend your springtime days in. It has a great mix of landscape and decor.
  4. Rainbow Connection – Aledia Underby makes the most of the new Alice Project Rainbow Glitter hair, styling with gusto.
  5. Look #417:  Alexiaa Allen’s first post in almost a month. If you check out her post, you will see why it’s nice to see her posting again.

Easter Colors Hatch

Easter Colors_003

The soft yellows, pinks and greens of Easter are upon us, signaling spring is coming. Despite the snow storm that just swept across the north of my part of the world, today it’s  a barbecue and socializing that is on my calendar. Continue reading

Cajsa Fast Five: March 18th

Fast FiveBeautiful places, beautiful pictures and beautiful clothes. That’s what’s in today’s Fast Five.  Let’s start with the beautiful pictures.

  • Single Frame Stories: Blur Every week a bunch of photographers take up the challenge to shoot a picture inspired by a word. This week’s word was blur and they focus on it brilliantly. I love how very different all their ideas are.
  • Lost in Time and Space: Open this set from Tillie Ariantho and set it on full screen and just read through a fun, humorous comic book created in SL. There is boobage so depending on your workplace, it may be NSFW.
  • Vintage Rose: Ruriko Bracken brings her inimitable style to create this gorgeous photo. I love her styling of a skirt we have all seen a dozen times or more. She makes it fresh and exciting.
  • Just Visiting: Hybie Minx shows you more of the gorgeous sim I shot my own post at last night. I feel a proprietary interest because when I arrived at the sim, I knew she would like it and dropped her a LM.
  • I Got a Brand New Pair of Roller Skates… I love Elle Couerblanc’s photos and Melanie Safka. I get two in one.

Thank You, Fashion For Life

The G Field dress for Fashion For Life has wonderful details like the bows on the back.

I am the youngest of six children. My five older siblings were all married by the time I turned four, so they basically doted on me like a pet or just one more child to play with their kids. They sometimes squabbled over me, all of them wanting me to come spend the weekend with them. I was pretty happy to go with any of them, but my oldest brother doted on me the most. I think it was because he saved me from drowning when I was three. My sister had brought me with her to the lake but was not paying attention when I got hung up in the weeds and slipped under water. Luckily my brother was there and noticed I was missing, ran in and found me unconscious, but obviously still alive. I do not remember any of this, but the story has been told to me over and over, though never by my brother. He was never one to boast. Instead, he took me swimming the next day and again and again until I grew up so at ease in the water that I would think nothing of running out the front door and swimming across the lake for a snack. Cajsa Fast Five: March 17th

Fast FiveHappy St. Patrick’s Day. For your listening pleasure, Miles Davis’ Blue in Green. For your reading pleasure, there’s some real reading pleasure to be had in Second Life.

  1. This week at Seanchai Library: The Library turns five and celebrates with storytelling. This has a schedule for upcoming stories for the week ahead including a reading of one of my favorite poets, W.B. Yeats on Monday.  Continue reading

Gidge’s Fast Five: Saint Patrick’s Day Edition

GidgeFast FiveThe most important thing I can say to you right now is this. I’m Irish Protestant.

Now, moving on.

There were five posts that I saw earlier, meant to blog, forgot because life is busy and then liked them enough to pour a glass of wine and log in to share them!

1. Antlers for Everyone Everyone seems to be wearing antlers lately and it’s not Christmas. Sam Laszlo has found the best way yet to blog some antlers and keep it fresh. Well done. Continue reading

Skin Fair: Ugly Duck Olive skin and Calf shape

birdie

It’s that time of the year where your fashion feed fills with porn — no wait, those are just all us fashion bloggers reviewing our loot from the Skin Fair! That’s right, in order to better show you what the skin looks like, we’re compelled to post all nekky and in sexy lingerie and stuff. (I secretly suspect we’re all just exhibitionists.)

I’m not even me in this photo. I’m wearing a gorgeous skinny-model-esque shape by Ugly Duck (called the Calf shape, Fade Lei’s professed favorite), and the new Ugly Duck Olive skin too. I’m kind of addicted to both. (By the way, I threatened to blog her shapes in demo form, because they look so cute and gollumy with the enormous hands and feet.) Go check it out at the Skin Fair!

Sitting next to me is a new mesh plushie from ~Silentsparrow~, keeping me company while my partner is busting her ass all day making mesh corsets and necklaces and stuff.

Shape: Ugly Duck Calf
