Circumnavigation

This simple little dress from Drift is a perfect summer dress, loose-fitting and casual. It comes with a HUD so you can choose all the colors. In fact, it comes with two textures, a cotton knit and this lovely satin and each texture has its own little hud full of color. However, I thought I would wear it with some leggings because it was a little breezy and I was afraid the wind would catch it and cause an indiscretion. The Lydia Slingbacks that Ingenue did for Collabor88 are as perfect as can be.

The bolt leggings from MichaMi sure look great with it. I had to go to XS to get it to fit under the dress, but that okay since the dress covers the skinny butt. Well, not completely. When I walked, the dress and leggings intersected from behind, so moving was more of a circumnavigation so that I faced forward.

Government Housing Redux: Spruced up for Summer

I’ve spent the past few months making my government housing abode comfortable and in keeping with my need for a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. I like where I’ve landed, at least for a minute or two. I’m always on the lookout though, for that amazing low impact item that I just MUST HAVE. 117 prims is not a lot to work with. Thank the Lindens for Mesh.

So then, let’s come inside.

I did add walls to my Linden home. My bedroom is directly off the entry way. I’ve spent a long time picking up the 1 Land impact items to tweak this room I’m pretty happy with it. Continue reading

Walkin’ well before midnight

Walkin'

Hello! It’s amazing how well the PRETENSE ESCAPE poses (meant for a bag hold) work with my big old staff. I’ve been trying my best to bust out of my shell in Second Life of late, visiting new sims and wandering like I used to do in my Second Youth. I’ve really enjoyed stalking Julliette Bergan’s photostream for this, which is how I stumbled upon Sea Salt, the sim where my avatar’s wandering.

Funny story. I teleported into the sim, flew a bit and found a nice place, and then the PLUMBER CAME. The real life one, Second Life is blissfully free of plumbers (except in, you know, THOSE sims). So I idled for a good fifteen minutes, only to return and realize that I’d totally interrupted a sweet tete-a-tete by two lovers lying not ten fake feet away from me. Oops. Whoever you were, sorry, I wasn’t standing around staring at you two sexting, I promise!

Stay

All along it was a fever
A cold sweat hot-headed believer
I threw my hands in the air, said, “Show me something,”
He said, “If you dare come a little closer.”

Round and around and around and around we go
Oh now tell me now tell me now tell me now you know

Not really sure how to feel about it.
Something in the way you move
Makes me feel like I can’t live without you.
It takes me all the way.
I want you to stay

TheBrokenOne_0033

It’s not much of a life you’re living
It’s not just something you take – it’s given

Round and around and around and around we go
Oh now tell me now tell me now tell me now you know

Not really sure how to feel about it.
Something in the way you move
Makes me feel like I can’t live without you.
It takes me all the way.
I want you to stay. Continue reading

Cajsa Fast Five: June 27th

Fast Five Why did I wake up at 5 AM when my cat didn’t even wake me? Clearly, he has so effectively trained me to wake at 5, he doesn’t even have to bother standing on my face any more. You would think waking up so early would mean getting more done. Why doesn’t that happen?

  1. Liberty and Justice for ALL: Vaki Zenovka celebrates the marriage decisions handed down from the Supreme Court yesterday with a brilliant photo replicating the iconic V-J Day kiss with Lady Liberty and Justice. I love it.
  2. The Top Ten Innovations That Have Shaped the Face of Second Life Fashion Over Ten Years. SL10B finds Iris Ophelia reflecting on the history of SL fashion and choosing what the thinks are the key innovations. See if you agree.
  3. Dust in the Wind: Luna Daines in a sweet outfit with two lovely photos. I kind of love the falling leaves, even though they fall suspiciously neatly.
  4. The Impish One: Serene Fairey is so well styled I want to rush out and buy everything.  I love Art Deco and she does it very well.
  5. Violin: I love the sweet romanticism in this ethereal photo from Liv Haalan for her blog.

I Am An Ugly Pink Flamingo

You might not know this about me, but I was set adrift by my fashion blogger parents as a young Zooby Baby sized fashion blogger, and wound up on the shores of Juicy. There I was taken in by herd of Pink Flamingos who raised me as their own.

Sometimes, late at night, I sneak back there, to visit my secret family and tell them how I am, and all the news in fashion blogger land. They pretend to listen. Continue reading

Vero Moderno Kaleidoscope V-Neck Dress

Our virtual extremities have gone through some extreme changes in recent years. Shoemakers responded to the deficiencies of the avatar mesh by creating sculpted feet with shoes that we could match to our skins. The tinting methods designers employed were varied and highly idiosyncratic and tinting a pair of shoes to match could take anywhere from 30 seconds to 30 minutes, depending on our skill and the sophistication of the HUD interface. This year, with mesh rigged to fit perfectly, a few designers have taken steps to ease our pain and make our desperate clicking about in color selection boxes and frantic sliding of RGB numbers a thing of the past. Because the path of innovation is never straight, two different routes were chosen, but whichever one you take, you end up with gorgeous shoes and skin that matches.

Jun25_013

In exploring the pros and cons of these two paths, I am going to look at Gos shoes and SLink Bare Feet with add-on shoes from another vendor. However, N-Core is also following the same path as Gos and I am sure some other shoe-makers will as well. The thing is, these are fundamentally different approaches to how to match the foot to your skins. Gospel Voom of Gos has chosen to provide the foot and shoes as one piece, the traditional way. His innovation is creating a skin color database and a scripted hud that accesses that data and applies it directly to the foot. Siddean Munro of Slink has taken another road, creating a foot that can be tinted and a free developer’s kit for skinners to customize for their skins and allowing shoemakers to use to make their own shoes to her form.

Good Things

I like things that take like 1 land impact and are awesome. I was desk hunting the other day, and besides finding “daddy little %&^ bucket” desk, I was having trouble locating something that was ME.  I like my home in SL to be comfy and cozy, maybe a bit worn and lived in. I want it to be a place where you feel welcome.

My friend Isla Gealach (and contributor here at IOF) popped in and said DUH, I made on it’s 1 Land impact.  It’s from CHEEKY PEA and if your land impact needs are constrained it’s BRILLIANT! Continue reading

With or without the horns

Acha's proportions challenge thingie

  1. Do you try and keep your avatar’s body proportionate and similar to the “average” proportions pictured above? – Acha’s original shape was no-mod (if you can believe it), and this one is a mod approximation done by Ellantha Larsson of Ellabella. It was such a relief to be able to modify my shape that I never really strove for average. Acha is me and I am Acha, only now I can shift Acha around a bit to accomodate mesh.
  2. What do you dislike the most about the SL avatar mesh? – Nothing. I quite like mesh. It makes everything pretty and bendy.
  3. Does it bother you when you see other avatars that are not proportionate at all? – I like weird avatars, the weirder the better. It shows that people are using their imaginations and not just attempting to be clones.
  4. Even though this is a virtual world and people can be anything they want to be, do you feel when they are in human form, they should try to keep their proportions close to average? –Whatever for?

Thanks to Berry for throwing yet another Proportions Challenge!  I poked through the group and found my photo from last year.  Amazing how I *cough* haven’t bothered to change at all. Maybe bigger boobs? Hm.

Berry's challenge...
