Aw Milla, say it’s not so…

MichaMi sale <3

I’ve been an unabashed fangirl of Milla Michinaga since shortly after I joined Second Life in 2008. She’s lovely, inside and out, and whatever she does is done with grace and consideration. She’s recently decided to shut down her in-world store, MichaMi, and in preparation for this she’s holding a 50% off sale. You’d think that simple, powerful, and elegantly designed pieces wouldn’t work very well with my crazy avatar, but they totally do, because her clothing is well-made enough to lend itself to any style. Go check out her store, and help me give her a proper send-off to hiatus land!

Hair: Lamb – Lost – Obsidian

The Arcade Previews Have Begun! How About – BELLEZA?

Belleza has a ton of tones and looks in their new skin LEILA out at the Arcade this round and I’m excited to bring you a preview. This is LEILA 6 and she’s COMMON – not rare, but man I love the lipstick.

I always think skin is one of THE BEST gacha pick ups – it’s a SKIN for goodness sakes. That’s like gold especially to a blogger!

Belleza’s rares are designed to fit our various hair colors and I’ll show them to you later but I had to show you this gorgeous pink lipstick! Now I need to go put some on in RL and run off.

aug27_007

Monday nights I DJ at The Velvet. I thought you might enjoy listening to my set on Spotify. This was my outfit I wore for DJing – a dress that I wore as a top and some pants.  I love the shapes and the edgy, fashion forward design.

The dress is from La Penderie de Nicole and has a very modern look with its exaggerated batwing shoulders. It is aptly names My Bat Dress. It comes with a tartan belt and a tweed belt and is a preview of Marcopol Oh’s coming fall collection. Happily the inside of the skirt is lined so the skirt looks good from all angles. I would like to have seen a similar lining of just a few inches on the sleeves and the top as there are angles where the alpha shows.

Dream Island (4)

School’s begun and mostly I’d like to be at the beach. Luckily it’s almost good beach weather in Florida (not so ridiculously hot), and this is totally achievable, just as soon as I feel better from treatments. Instead, I had a lazy morning staying in from work and headed to Dream Island in SL. Oddly enough it’s listed in the destination guide’s haunted category, but it must’ve had a thematic shift at some point because it was simply a lovely beach. I poked into a few coves, accidentally checked out someone else’s beach bungalo (oops!), and went diving with the orca. I like beach sims that don’t ignore the stuff below water!

I’m wearing a new-to-me designer, Trinite, today. I like the flirtiness of the cropped schoolgirl shirt and skirt, cutely done! More photos of the sim are behind the cut.

Today I dreamed of beaches...

So Why DO You Blog, Anyway?

I can answer that question in many parts. First of all, it’s a hobby that ties in with two things I’m fond of, Second Life and fashion. It’s an activity in collaboration with my best friend, Cajsa, and with good friends I’ve made along the way like Hybie, Till, Acha and the rest of the team.

It’s also an ego boost. Anyone who says that they don’t get high when they’re invited to blog an event, receive a review copy or simply get a compliment, we’ll, they’re lying to you. I’ve been doing this for over five years, and I can tell you – I dance just as hard and happily when any of those things happens as I did the first time it happened. My first review copy was the LUCY Skin from LAQ. I remember that moment like it was yesterday.

I think, as I watch folks post their daily posts, I am missing your passion – the piece of your blog posts that are YOU. Where did you go? Are you just bogging XYZ because everyone else is doing it an you don’t want to be left out? WHY?  Continue reading

Cajsa Fast Five: August 26th

Fast Five Some great articles for you to check out today. I need to do this fast as I have to choose my music for tonight’s set at The Velvet. It starts at 5:00 p.m. SLT – and goes for two hours in case you want to come by.

  1. A Little Night Magic – Elle Couerblanc posted this a few days ago and I saved it because I love the mood and story told in her pictures.
  2. Hunts, Freebies and Moochers – Deoridhe Quandry sheds some much needed light on the issues that plague hunts and have turned folks away from hunting.
  3. Approval and Blurring Lives – River Pearl has wonderful photos of Wendigo Lake, an atmospheric setting that sets the mood for her discussion of SL as a place for dealing with grief. This caught my attention in part because my parent’s birthdays are coming tomorrow and the next day and I find myself each year going to sims that remind me of them. For some reason, I find their birthdays the time when I feel their loss most intensely.
  4. 181 – Spotted Deer – Opal Lei takes Dim Sum off to Maria Lynn Falls – a place I might just spend time tomorrow – remembering my dad and deer hunting.
  5. Liquid Mesh – Looking from All Sides – Inara Pey does her usual magnificent job of clarifying technical issues so that they make sense for us all.

LOTD – August 25, 2013

I’ve been doing too much shopping and not enough blogging. So this lazy Sunday morning, I thought I’d throw together a quick LOTD with some of my newest purchases.

When Miel is on the $50 L friday list – its the FIRST place I head and this last week was no disappointment.

Clef de Peau

Cajsa had on a skin the other day that took my breath away, and with over 5 years at this blogging hobby, that’s not an easy task. It was pretty understandable, when I found out that it was created by none other than Marcopol Oh, the amazing photographer whose keen eye for beauty has astounded folks on FLICKR for some time.

The skin has so many options for customization it boggles the mind. Makeups, beauty marks, lashes, freckles, cleavage, plus the requisite SLINK huds (good job new skinner).

This is default lighting on my platform so you can see the skin in regular light.

I can’t wait to dig into this box and try more options.

Those of you who are always looking for a new look that isn’t “the same”, this one is for you.  Cajsa blogged everything and then some previously. As you can see, even between she and I this skin has a very different look.

Even When You Cannot See Them

aug24_008

The shoes you choose are important. Even when you cannot see them, they are important. They tie your outfit together by unifying the different elements or they can add ironic punctuation by introducing a disparate element to your look. They express the mood of your outfit without saying a word. The Pickford heels from Ingenue say a lot. They are classic, restrained and yet have some exquisite details such as the way the strap splits into two and the tiny, neat bow. In most views of my outfit today, you cannot even see them, but I know they are there and that is all that matters.

aug24_005

Today I am wearing a gorgeous formal gown from Liziaah, an amazing designer who migrated to SL from IMVU and who I predict you will hear more of as more and more people become familiar with her designs. This is a lush formal gown with minimal fuss in the structure and maximal attention to details in the print – a gorgeous of flowers and lace that would have made Marie Antoinette giddy with delight.
