Style Notes:
I had planned to blog this before I went into the hospital for surgery, but ran out of “oomph” and didn’t get it up. I shot this for Luna Jubilee’s 52 Weeks of Color Challenge because I love this gown from Paper Couture and it’s blue, blue, blue!!!!
The gown may be blue and the lovely Endless sim may be blue, but I a not feeling blue at all. I am a happy woman. When my best friend came to visit me after surgery she said, “before we chat, go look at your blog.” I cried, of course, touched not only be the treasure trove that is Gidge’s boundless heart, but also by the outpouring of good wishes, hopes and prayers from friends, acquaintances and readers here on the blog, in SL and in plurk. There was a whirlwind of love and kindness that circled the globe, gathering up hope an dropping it gently into that operating theater here at OHSU. And it worked. My surgery was complete within the minimum estimated time and there were no complications at all. Despite a rough day of illness and drama yesterday, I woke up this morning full of energy and optimism. Thank you each and every one for adding your voice to that whirlwind of hope that lifted me up through a very rough few days.

Well.. not really but… it is the BLUE week in the 52 Weeks of Color bloggers challenge. Once in a while I like to take a walk on the wild side… or at least the less dressy side and relax and get comfy. This outfit is the lazydayIdon’tfeellikefixingmyhairorgoinganywhere outfit I would wear (well I would have on slippers in RL, but this is SL) if I was staying home look. I bought this outfit on the new Marketplace and it didn’t come with a Landmark (I hate when they do that). But its from a place called *T & A Designs* and I got the link from the Marketplace, so I hope its right.
Check it out… cute huh?

On Weds 11.17.10 I’m going to be introducing a new feature here on IOF called WTF WEDS!!! This is how it’s going to work!
I’m going to do a post and you get to fill in the fashion details. I’m not going to approve ANY comments during the day for that post so that no one can get any “ideas” of what the style details are. I’ll release the comments and announce the winner on Thursday.
The Winner will be the FIRST person – based on comment time stamp – to give me ALL the fashion details correct (or most of them). If we have more than one person get them all right, the winner will be the one with the FIRST time stamp correct and everyone AFTER that will get a new pose pack from Gesticulate!
Anyway, it’ll be a festive weekly game.
And if you want the truth, it was my husband Silo’s idea because once again I’d forgotten to write down any fashion details and had to log in to get them, he said “You should just make it a contest” and VOILA a fun idea was born.
It might seem like I’ve been drinking. But I promise, I’m not drunk.
Watch this space for………..WTF WEDS! Coming to a blog feed near you….
Earlier today, Miss Gidge made me cry by posting an eloquent and heart-felt testimony to her friendship with Cajsa. It made me stop and think about my own connections in Second Life, and what makes the game worth playing for me. I agree — it’s also the people. Second Life can be a quiet world sometimes when nobody’s awake or everybody’s busy, but the moments of interaction with good friends make all that quiet blogging time worthwhile. I love my friends too, and that feeling is as real life as it gets. It was also beautiful to read about Cajsa and Gidge’s friendship and how it grew, and painful to see Gidge’s state of mind while she waited for her BFF to emerge from the operating room.
This post is for Gidge and Cajsa. The styling is far from my usual, because I’m trying my best to take on Cajsa’s style aesthetic. I’m in gray with red hair, and I donned the most ruffled item that I own in my wardrobe. Cajsa exudes femininity to me, and I tried my best to embody this. It’s harder than it looks — I had to firmly remind myself to leave off the finger tape and facial piercings. Heck, I even put on earrings! (The problem is, I think I failed — I look like I’m in vintage, waiting for something creepy to happen, like Tippi in The Birds. But hey, I tried.)
Even though Gidge and Cajsa and I have extremely different styles, their blogging has always had a place in my heart. I love the location shots, and I’ve always been a sucker for Cajsa’s lighting effects, and whenever I feel like looking for a perfect frock I head on over to It’s Only Fashion. Keep on keeping on, you two, and thank you for inspiring me today.

About three years ago I met this girl. I was busily setting up vendors in this huge BIAB shop that my friend owned and doing other shiz associated with managing a mall, and this girl was there, stuck under the stairs to the store.

We laughed and talked and eventually she got unstuck but I can’t remember how. She probably had to relog. She camped at my friends club, on the same property. He paid out tons of camping lindens daily because he had this thing about helping out players who didn’t have money.

Eventually she came over and modeled for me because he was having me take pictures of the BIAB to make our own vendors. (PS at that time I didn’t know the term BIAB nor the shady nature of the business so everyone just get off your high horse now.)
Time went on and my friend hired her, and I sighed. DAMN. Another one of his ho’s that I was gonna have to babysit while he ran off with OTHER ho’s. This is the same friend who kept his Gorean slaves laying about, and made me watch them while he was off doing shenanigans.
Mall manager, slave watcher, occasional escort dresser – that was my job.

Over time, she and I started doing events together at his club. And I discovered that not only was she NOT one of his ho’s, she was really smart and funny. We started having the best time thinking up crazy ideas for parties several times a week.

One day she took me to this land called Glookbone and showed me this photography studio she’d set up. I remember being in AWE of the amazing pictures they were taking there. I’d never seen pictures like that. I had no idea anyone could DO anything like that.

Time went on and we got more and more burned out trying to churn out creative parties several times a week for folks who really just wanted to camp and get paid anyway. Cajsa’s photography business was taking off and taking more of her time. And eventually my role at the island ended due to personal squabbling (his new girlfriend didn’t like me bwaahaahaa).

I was pretty vocationless for a while, just puttering around my house decorating it, missing old friends etc, when Cajsa asked me if I wanted to come do this blog thing with her. I said “Fashion blog? What’s a fashion blog?”

I remember the first shoot I did, dredging up a decent outfit and being paranoid I looked stupid.
I remember the day we got 100 hits for the first time. We were beside ourselves.

I remember my first review copies. I remember getting COMMENTS from people I had only heard of, for the first time, and being amazed. Someone was READING US?

Eventually she made me learn how to take my own pictures. We didn’t advertise it, but it was because she just wasn’t well enough to take pics for both of us anymore, because of the time involved.

Because of this blog, I met some of the best, smartest, funniest people I’ve ever known.

This is a lot of pictures isn’t it?

Today Cajsa has surgery. Surgery that she has desperately needed for over a year. Surgery that will restore her life and hopefully put an end to pain. It isn’t casual. It’s actually quite serious. This isn’t a “oh I had surgery once it was fine she’ll be ok” sort of surgery.
It’s the sort of surgery where you make a choice and hope for the best.

Over the past three years we have cried over boys, over joys and sorrows. We’ve sobbed together on the phone and in world. We’ve also laughed and cackled when so moved. She’s been there for me when babies were born, and when babies were lost. She’s held my hand and I have held hers when the world was worrisome and scary.

Two cartoon girls became real friends. Real. Not “this is my friend on the grid” friends. Real friends. It kills me that I cannot be there for her today.
Berry asked what do you believe in? I believe in reality.
She goes into surgery at 8am SLT. She’s going to be in surgery many many hours. But when it’s over, it is my WILL that everything be better. You hear that Universe? I’m talking to you.
I love you Cajsa.

And I’m waiting for you. Come back soon.
Love
Bridgette

PS – Yeah those early pics are from my early SL days. I didn’t know what high rez photos were, nor anything else. So – fssss to the haters. That’s just who we were, a couple of prissy girls in a low rez world.
Ok Luna, its week 2 of the 52 weeks of color challenge, and you have picked out the colour that I think I have the LEAST of in my inventory. I mean, I could almost start to take this personally, bcuz if you type the word “blue” into my inventory, perhaps 10 items come up. *sings to self* ‘I gots no blue bla da dee da da dooo…”

Yeah that’s right. I stole clothes from another friend. Why bother having my own clothes when my friends have cute things?
I’m bored with everything, so this might be my new blog theme “things other people wore and I liked.”
Meh, maybe not.
I’m bored with that now. Continue reading
